Santa Really is Coming to Town!!!

Actually he REALLY is coming to our town!!! I believe the date is the 4th of December. The fire department comes out with it's big truck with Santa on top. The first year we lived here we didn't know about this yearly event and our son was in the bathtub at the time. He heard the siren (the small rescue vehicle drives down the street first and then the big fire truck with Santa on top (lighted tree and all). Our son goes running out of the tub to his bedroom window and is standing there naked waving at Santa. Now I'm sure he won't be reading my blog to know I told this story about him!! He told me my blog has too much "stuff" on it, like my desktop on my computer that he keeps telling me to clean up. I load everything to my desktop so I can find it. Half the time I don't know where things are saved to on this computer. Just easier to load it to the desktop!!! Anyway, the rescue truck that precedes Santa is there to let everyone know he's coming plus they load the canned goods on it that they are collecting. SO I need to write the date on the calendar and get a box of items ready for Santa! Oh and if you (kids) are outside when he comes the ones walking alongside the fire truck give out candy canes. It's such a wonderful thing they do. Give the kids candy canes, let the kids see Santa right on their own street and collect canned goods for the local food shelf.

Alright, moving right along here. Onto the Santa Candy Cand. I made these last year too. They are candy cane covers made using just circle punches. How cute is that? I got the original idea on Split Coast Stampers and I'm SO sorry but I don't know who the designer is so I can give them credit. I just thought it was cute and I had to make them. It seems like I'll be making them every year!!! It takes a while to punch out all the pieces but it's SO much fun putting them together. This would be a fun project for the kids too! A great Stamp Camp, Holiday Hostess Gift, Holiday Customer Appreciation and even a fun and inexpensive Make N Take. I recommend wrapping the card stock around a pencil first to get it to bend. Wrapping that stiff card stock around the candy cane caused the cane to break several times. Not that you can't use the broken pieces with white bark and make some peppermint candies for the holiday but lets finish up one project at a time!!! I did use tacky glue to hold the "wrapper" around the cane. Double stick tape doesn't hold well and the glue stick took too long to adhere.

And adding to the Santa theme is the Santa Tissue holder which you can view here. This is one of the first in the Santa theme items I made.

Thanks SO much for stopping by,
Wanda

Hmmmm...you've got my wheels turning. Yesterday I decided I'd make baggies of Snowman Soup for my class. Maybe I'll do these snowmen for the candy cane that goes along with that. If I get started now, I might just get it done without pulling out too much hair! I need 32 of them, that's not too bad...
Thanks for another great idea, Wanda!

This is adorable. Can you tell me what size circle punches you used? I would love to try this

These are so cute; and would make such darling tie-ons to gifts. Do you recall the different sizes of punches you used? TFS.

Hey Wanda - the candy cane is so adorable. I may have to copy it. What a wonderful thing to have Santa come by for an early visit!

What a fun little project - I definitely need to make a few of these.

And in our area, Santa comes through on the fire truck on Christmas Eve. Our little boy was 9 months old at his first Christmas, and loved watching lights. Of course we bundled him up so he could take in the spectacle - well, the firemen saw him and decided to blow the horn. BIG mistake! The poor kid totally freaked out and cried so hard that he threw up (one of only two times EVER in his life so far!) Not quite as memorable as the naked waving, but an interesting memory nevertheless :)

What a funny story!! I can just imagine my kids doing the same thing when they were little. Our fire truck comes around Christmas Eve & throws out Candy and beanie babies to the kiddos! Cute candy cane holder..
