The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. Most of my cards start out with the white card stock because I find it easier to do it that way and add the colored layers and avoid adding a white piece on the inside for writing on. When I'm done decorating the front of my card, I'm usually done with the inside too!
I took a piece of Petal Pink and before taping it to the front of the card I used the largest square die in the "Stylish Shapes" set and cut the piece from the middle. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Basic White strip will hide the opening that was made and no one is the wiser. Plus it's being a bit frugal. Read on there's more frugality to come! I taped this piece to the front of the card.
Next I cut my DSP from the "Brushed with Beauty" 12" x 12" package. It measures 3-1/4" x 3-3/4" and I cut a Basic White piece 2" x 3-3/4". I took the Basic White piece and textured it using the "Stone & Vine" embossing folder. I glued it in place on the right side of the card. Then I taped the piece of DSP in place. It overlaps the Basic White piece a little. I did that on purpose because I wasn't sure where I was going with these pieces. You can trim either a bit to fit better but it's not going to show.
Using the second largest square die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut one of Basic White. Before taping it to the Petal Pink square, I stamped the flower from the "Petals of Beauty" bundle using Petal Pink ink. I cut it out using the matching die. Make sure you center your flower or it could show. After taping the squares together I added Dimensionals to the back. I set it in place on the front of the card. I lined up the tips of the squares with the seams of the DSP and embossed piece. If you don't have the square dies you can cut your pieces at 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" for the colored piece and 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" for the white piece.
The greenery is from the "Petals of Beauty" bundle and were cut using Mossy Meadow ink. I cut the tip of the top leaf. Tape was added to each petal and the piece was set in place on the squares.
Dimensionals were added to the back of the flower and the flower was set in place on over the top half leaf. I had some (retired) "White Perfect Accents" embellishments and I set them in place on the front of the card.
I didn't add any wording because I'm not sure what I want the card to say yet. It's not speaking to me yet.
This was a fun card to make and I really do like this layout. I cut the pieces out of scrap copier paper and taped them to a folded half-sheet of scrap copier paper so I could have template/sketch to follow in the future. I also write the date on the front of when it was posted on my blog so I can go back and look to see what I did and what changes I might want to make.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's card,
Wanda
