Snowman Gift Tag Weekend Project

Once again I you could find me searching for "stuff" on Pinterest.  It's such an awesome waste of time!!! LOL  I have pinned so much stuff that I know I will never get back to!  But I know it's there for inspiration should I ever find it all again!  Or remember why I pinned something.  Did you ever do that?  Look through a catalog or something on the net and mark it and then go back a few days later and wonder what you saw in that item the day you marked it?  I do that a lot.  It must have been a color or the mood I was in at the time.  But most of the stuff I mark I like and remember why I marked it.  I just don't remember all the stuff I've marked or pinned!!  But today I found this little guy and did the best I could with it.  Though I think it could use a bit more finesse.

The original tag can be found here.  I like the background on it, it's got a lot more snow falling with all the white.  I opted not to add that so I could actually use mine as a to and from tag.  I need to find a stamp set with the to and from words in it.

The snowman face was done before I punched it out.  I punched out some black pieces of card stock for the eyes and mouth, and also for the buttons.  I glued them in place.  I was going to use tape but I thought the embossing gun would make the tape melt and slip.  After gluing the eyes in place I added the blush (a pink marker) and then the mouth.  The nose was punched out too and glued in place.  When the glue was dry I wiped the VersaMark pad over the area and I used  Iridescent Ice over it all.  Now I need to backup just a bit here.  I did the face on a piece of white card stock, not on the punched out circle.  Once I was done with the Iridescent Ice then I punched it out with a 1-1/4" circle punch.  I did the same for the body.  I used the Iridescent Ice before punching.  I scrapped off some of the Iridescent Ice on the mouth because it looked to shiny and sparkly.  So for the buttons, I just added them after embossing.  I think if I were to do it different I would have added the mouth and eyes after but then it may have made punching it out more difficult.  I am going to make a few more and try different things to see what all works the best.

I taped the two balls together on the back side and added a bit of glue to them to hold them together.  I added a few rhinestones around the tag and then I tied a ribbon around the neck and on top of the tag.  And that was it.  Fun and easy!  Oh and cute too!

A Jolly Bingo Bits Christmas

Yesterday I posted a candy cane card and now today.  Do you see a theme happening here? Though I did use two different stamp sets.  Today I used the candy cane from the Jolly Bingo Bits set and I did have to cut out the candy cane by hand, there is no punch for that one.  But since I was only cutting out one it wasn't so bad.

I was looking in my Pinterest followings and I saw this card that Yolanda posted.  I wanted to recreate it but I knew I didn't have the little packages stamp so I thought I would hunt for something else.  I wasn't having any luck so I just began to make the card components.  When I got done with the oval I thought I would see what I had that would fit inside it and that's when I ran across the Jolly Bingo Bits set.  I was going to use the mittens but I didn't like how they fit inside the oval.  I also thought how pretty a single red bird would be too.  But I liked how the candy cane covered more space up and down so I thought I would stamp one and cut it out and then decide.  Well, after I got it cut out I set it on top of the oval and I liked what I saw so I ran with it.  I changed the ribbon (from the original card) and also the wording.  I thought the card could use a little more color so I took my red marker and ran around the edges of all the white card stock pieces.  But that thought came after the card was all taped together.  Isn't that how things usually work?

If I were to redo this card I would omit the silver paper and replace it with Real Red.  I think it would give the card a lot more punch.  The silver was SO pretty with the white on the original card.  So if you are going to make one of these, I would recommend using Real Red on the background layers.

Even with the slight color issue, I did have fun making this card.  I would make another one but only one because that candy cane is so tiny to cut out!

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,

A Scentsational Candy Cane Christmas

I think I've got my mojo back!  I have been in a rut here of mostly making cards that I find on the net.  Today I created this card and I feel inspired to create even more, all on my own!!!

This is a very clean and simple card.  This card is far from what I had in mind but I like this better.  I was originally going to use just one candy cane and it was going to be on a strip coming from the top part of the card.  The flat and textured background were as I wanted them for the card I had in mind.  Once I set the candy cane on the area I was going to be working on I didn't like it.  So I set it on the textured part and that is when I saw that if I added two more it would brighten up the card SO much. So I stamped and cut out 2 more candy canes and just laid them on the card.  I liked what I saw so the next step was the mighty hunt for the right words.  I looked in the Stampin' Up! catalog for some fun Christmas wording to stamp at the top.  The set I wanted was one I didn't own.  So I kept looking until I found this one from the  Chock-full of Cheer set.  My first thought was to stamp the words directly on the card but they were too small.  So I stamped them on a separate piece of card stock and cut them out.  I cut a Real Red background layer for them and set them in place using Dimensionals.  And there you have it.  A bright and festive Christmas card.  I did not buy the scents you can use on these cards but I can imagine it would be a fun thing to play with and add a bit more character to the card.

Scentsational Gingerbread Boy Christmas Card

Ok, I had the other gingerbread boy just sitting there on my worktable.  It was all stamped and cut out, just sitting there waiting for me to either spill on it so I could toss it or make something with it.  So I thought I would whip up a quick card with it.

I used the Enfrance background set and I stamped it using Real Red.  The base of the card is Real Red, that is why I went with that ink.  Between the back layer and the stamped layer is a piece of Wild Wasabi.  I also used the Wild Wasabi for a layer behind the glitter paper and on the die cut gingerbread boy layer.  The card could use a bit more finesse but my plan here was to make a quick card without a lot of fluff!

It's very festive but it's lacking something.  Any ideas?  It would be fun to redo the card (actually make another card(s)) with your suggestions and see how it could be punched up some without making it take a long time to make.  So just post your ideas for me here and I'll see what I can come up with.  Maybe it could turn into some kind of contest!!!  I'm not saying anymore there!

Scentsational Gingerbread Boy Card

I am such a sucker for gingerbread boys!  I have a few of them in my kitchen.  One is a really cute gingerbread couple.  Each are on the side of a gingerbread recipe.  I keep that up all year long.  I've had it for years but have yet to try the recipe!!!

So onto my card.  I stamped my gingerbread boy using Chocolate Chip ink and then used the die to cut him out.  I stamped and cut out two because I was pretty sure I would ruin one but I didn't.  SO I guess that means I'll be making another one later on!!  Maybe!

I had lots of scraps for layers and I cut what was left of them to fit the length and width of the card.  I love it when I can use up those strips.  And trust me I have LOTS of them!!

This card was a lot of fun and get this.... I didn't even copy it from anywhere!  Imagine that?  It's been a while since I have posted an original card.  I've just been finding way too many pretties out there that I have to make for myself!!  But today I thought I would step out that box and try one on my own!

Come to Bethlehem

My card for today comes from Terri's fun Stamp-A-Stack.  We made Christmas cards that night.  I LOVE Christmas and I LOVE making Christmas cards.  And no, my cards are not done yet and thanks for asking!!! LOL  But they are close.  All I have to do is assemble them and do the labels and I'm ready.  They will be going out in the mail by December 1st!  Which is earlier than last year!!

This card was super easy and SO pretty.  The stamp set used is Come to Bethlehem.  I don't have this set, it's not my style.  I much prefer snowmen sets and I usually just buy only one Christmas/holiday/winter set a year.

It's hard to see but the center of the star has a clear rhinestone on it.  This also has a fun fold.  The front piece is folded to the left and a piece of the brushed silver card stock is set in place.  Then the die cut image is centered on the card front. The die cut piece is big enough to hide the round circle in the center of the inside of the card.

My sister and I love to attend the Stamp-A-Stacks and we always have a great time.  It's fun to catch up with each other and chat while we play!  Terri always has such great cards too.

I am working on some fun things for you to see so please be sure to stop back and see what I've been up to!

Ho Ho Ho Santa Earrings

Just for a little change of pace today I am going to post some fun Santa earrings.  Aren't they cute?  I am going to wear these when  I work next month!  They are such fun and they were fun to make too!

The Santa was originally a bookmark but I thought they were earrings so I made a pair.  Be sure to check out her website.  There's a cute pair of brushed silver beads Snowman earrings.  SO adorable too!

I have a few other "Santa Theme" items for you and no, they are not jewelry, they are stamped and paper craft items!  It's time for Santa stuff, isn't it?

So, how did your Black Friday go?  Did you go shopping?  I posted last night that hubby and I were going to go to Wal-Mart.  Well, we did BUT.   It was crazy there.  I could see the lot was full before we even turned onto the road to the store.  I told hubby we could just forget it but we went in anyway.  We parked about 1/4 mile away.  We were on the far side of the whole shopping center's parking lot!!  Not a big deal, it was a bit chilly and windy but the snow had stopped.  Plus hubby said he wanted to see what this was all about.  Silly man.  Then we got in the store and all the craziness started.  Hubby and I got separated and of course, of all times to forget my phone at home!!! UGH!  Then the crowds in the movies they had on special were unbelievable and the people were a bit rude.  Some paid no regards to you, they just pushed in front so they could see the movies.  I think the store could have done the display on them much better to avoid that kind of mess there.  I found 3 of the 5 movies that were on my list.  We found a couple of toys for the family we buy for and I found hubby so we decided we were done.  We got in line to check out.  It started in the clothing department which formed a people maze.  At one point I became claustrophobic.  There were racks of clothes on my right and stacks of clothing on my left (both higher than I was.  You couldn't move forward and you couldn't go backwards.  When we finally got out of that clothing section and turned the corner we were told to form two lines.  You couldn't even see one line.  We looked across the area and the people maze was 8 rows wide.  We moved 2 feet in 10 minutes and I told hubby that I was done.  We turned around and hopped over their roped off area.  We put the stuff down on one of the clothing stands and headed for the door.  What a nightmare.   So I say NEVER again AND you can quote me on that!  When I got home I went online, found the movies I wanted and got close to the same price on two, less than Wal-Mart had on two of them and one was the same.  And get this, free shipping!  Silly me.  I'm SO for online shopping!  I will probably do some store shopping after this weekend but as for this weekend, the remainder of it... I'm HOME!!!  LOL

And I didn't think I was going to be able to post tonight, I was having some issues with Chrome and my blog.  I didn't need anymore computer problems.   It's amazing how dependent we have become on computers!  And when I get done here I'm going to stay away from the computer for the rest of the night!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.  As you gather with friends and family we take time to remember how thankful we are for what we do have.

The shopping craziness starts tomorrow.  Though through looking at the ads in the paper this morning, I'm thinking the craziness starts tonight. And I believe I may be among the crazies to go out there and do a bit of shopping.  I have to work on Black Friday (a first in MANY years) so I won't be able to go out shopping. Not that I was one of those early risers that stood out in the cold or long lines to get a certain item.  I have a list of gifts I need to get for a family we buy for and I'm hoping the stuff will be in the store.  If not then I just shop elsewhere some other time.  It would be nice to catch a break on the prices though.  This is our third year buying for this family.  It's fun but it gets more expensive each year because the kids are growing up.  I did make some bracelets and sold them to raise money for this adventure.  I was actually able to post one on here (and it sold) but the others sold before I was able to get them on the internet.  Which is a good thing.  Maybe next year I can get more on the website!  I have great plans for beading and stamping for the new year. Let's hope I can do it!  Anyway, I'm rambling here.  I want to wish you all a great day and I will be back tomorrow with some fun "stuff" for the holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Wanda

Delightful Decorations Christmas Card

WOW, talk about going from one extreme (yesterday's card) to the other (today's card)!  Yesterday's card was full of layers and lots of little pieces.  Today's card is quick and simple with one stamp being used.  Oh and on yesterday's card I forgot to add all those pearls that the original card had on it.  Maybe I got too tired from all of those layers!!! LOL  I just forgot to add them and I didn't even remember it had pearls until I saw the pearl on this card!

This is a very easy and fun card to make. I LOVE this layout too. It's so simple to work with and many of those under 3" images work well with this. I made this card at Terri's very fun Stamp-A-Stack. My sister and I had a great time together making cards.  It's nice that we can get together and have some fun and of course end the time with a bunch of fun cards!!! I love going to her Stamp-A-Stacks.  Her cards never cease to amaze me!

For this card we used the Delightful Decorations stamp set.  I am guessing it will be next to be retired since it's been out for a while now.  I hope not.  It's a fun set and so versatile. Plus it has a punch to go with it.  I hate it when I spend the money on the sets and the punch and they retire them in only a couple of years.  I'm so much more careful about what I buy now for that very reason.

Anyway, we added the punched out image on the circle scallop and that was added to the front of the card on top of the side layers.  So super simple and fun!

Scentsational Season Card

Apparently something is going on with my email again so I had to use my camera to take the photo instead of my phone.  I've gotten so spoiled with taking photos with the phone that I rarely use my camera anymore.

I copied this really cute card using the Scentsational Season set.  I think it's such a fun set and then the bonus to it is you buy the dies for it so you don't have to cut a thing out by hand.  You just stamp the image and then take the die and line it up.  Take a sticky note and put it over the image and the die to hold it in place while you cut it out on your Big Shot.  As simple as that.  You can whip out a bunch of those little images in no time using the die!

I found the original card here at Ann's Stampin' Schack site.  As Ann had said in her post that this card was more work than she thought.  She is right.  There's lots going on here.  Lots of pieces to get cut out and stamp and layer.  But it was SO worth it.

I didn't have the same decorative papers that she used or the same wording but it all worked out and I like the card.  Though as much as I like it,  I don't think I'll be making any more of them!!!  What drew me to this card was the gingerbread boy for starters. I LOVE gingerbread boys!  And then it was the "steam" coming off the cups.  You use vellum, stamp the image and then use clear embossing.  In person it's SO pretty!

Punch Cards

Here is another card I made at Terri's Stamp-A-Stack.  This card is made using punches.  The only stamping on here was done on the center of the flower.  And the best thing about this is it makes the card extremely versatile. I can see this as a get well, card, a birthday card, a thinking of you card, and even a sympathy card, and possibly a wedding card.

To make this card we stamped the worn dots background stamp on the blue card stock.  Then it was run through the Big Shot with the die.  Then the ribbon was set in place.  The center of the flower was stamped and then the flower was punched out.  Next we clipped the petals on the flower and it was set in place on top of the ribbon.  As simple as that and SO elegant looking too.  I just ordered that champagne colored glitter paper.  It's SO pretty and I've seen it on a lot of other cards and that's all it took. I just had to have it!

This was such a fun card to make and because it was a Stamp-A-Stack I got to make 3 of them!  It's great to have so many cards on hand for any occasion.

And now it's coming up on Christmas time and I'll be making a variety of Christmas cards to show you.  Plus other cards that I create or find.  I did find a couple that I just HAVE to make!!!

Blog Candy Winner!

WOW, I didn't think I was going to be able to post the Blog Candy winner today.  I was unable to access my blog yesterday due to some server issues.  I'm not sure what that means but I was glad to see that it was restored in it's entirety today!  I'm assuming it is.  I didn't check every post and I won't be but it looks like it's all here! How odd was that?  So the post I have for yesterday will be added on tomorrow.  I got a day off from posting!! LOL

Ok, onto the winner. I used the Random Number Generator to pick the number for me and it was #17 and that lucky person is Peggy S.  Here is the comment she left:

 "Peggy S from OH said...
i would have to say blogs, althought I do check out splitcoaststampers, but not as often.

Happy Blogoversary, Wanda!"
Congratulations to you Peggy!  Please email me with your snail mail address and I will get these three stamp sets plus the other "stuff" I put in the package for the celebration!! It's always a fun surprise!  I will give you until next Sunday to contact me (due to the Thanksgiving holiday).  If I don't hear from Peggy by Sunday evening on November 25th, I will put the sets back up for a second chance offer!
And be sure to keep your eye out on New Year's Eve or is it New Year's Day? I'll have to go back a year and see what I do.  Oh my gosh, my memory is failing me!!!  YIKES!!! I always post Blog Candy to celebrate the new year!
I thank you all for playing and I thank you for visiting my blog, it really does mean a lot to me!

Happy Stamping,
Wanda
P.S.  I just looked and it is New Year's Day!!!  What a great and fun way to start off the New Year!!!

Pleasant Poppies Butterfly Card

I just can't believe I forgot to show you these gems that I made last month at Terri's Stamp-A-Stack.

I do not have this Pleasant Poppies background stamp.  I'm still thinking about it.  It's way down on my wishlist.  I do like this card but I have not seen many cards using this image.  There were a couple that I did see that colored in the poppies.  I'm not sure I want to do a lot of coloring.  So that is why the stamp is down on my wishlist.  Besides, there's plenty of other images that I want a whole lot more!

This is a very simple card to make too.  After the background was stamped and the scalloped edge put on the butterfly was punched out.  It was punched out using some decorative paper. If you click on the image you can see a closer view of the paper.  From here it looks like it was colored in but nope!  It was stamped on the decorative paper and then punched out.  And it's hard to see in the photo but it's punched out twice and layered on top of each other with a Dimensional.  Such a cute idea.  Though Terri has such great ideas for her cards.  She makes so many of them.  I think I would run out of ideas.  What?  I have run out, that is why I've been picking them off of Pinterest or Split Coast Stampers lately.

I like this wide area at the bottom of the card.  I can add a layered label punch words there if I want.  A  ribbon, buttons or brads.

It was a fun, quick and easy card to make!

Die Cut Leaves

This is one of the cards I made last month at Terri's fun Stamp-a-Stack.  I had set those cards aside and have not been back to that part of my workroom in a while. It's such a mess so I avoid going over there!!!  But it's time to suck it up and get the area cleaned up!!!  I love a clean space so I can just fill it back up again with more stuff I don't want to deal with right away!!  Why do I do that?  Does anyone know the answer to that question?

This was such a fun card to make.  You ran the card stock through the Big Shot with the Sizzix leaf die and then you took this wad of rubber bands and colored them.  I think there is something like 30 rubber bands tie wrapped together.  You tap the end on the ink pad, much like you would do for sponging.  And then you just tap it on your card stock.  It creates a very fun and interesting look. Then we did the part I just hate doing.  You scrunch up a perfectly good leaf!!! LOL  It just kills me to do that.  But I do like the effect so I have been learning to just roll with it!

It's a very simple card to make.  And a very fall looking card.  This would also be great for a masculine card too.  A get well, birthday and of course the thinking of you card.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
