Peaceful Moments, Fine Art Floral, Sympathy Card, Corner Fold Card Technique

While in the middle of making this card, the husband pops in my workroom and tells me he needs a sympathy card. I was more than in the middle of the card. I was ready to add the words (it was going to be a thank you card).  So I went to my stamp sets to find some sympathy words. You can see how to do this technique by clicking here and a previous card I made. This link also shows you how to cut the Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the solid front of the card. Mine is just solid.  You can also see other samples using this fold by clicking here

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Poppy Parade card stock. I did score it on the long side at 4-1/4".

To make the special fold you will need your cutting board. With the long side lines up at the 3" mark, move the cutter to 2-1/2" and cut down to the 4-7/8" mark.  Then turn the card stock clockwise so the short end is on top. Again, line the edge at 3". Move your blade to the 3" mark. It should like up with your previous cut. Then cut upward to the 5/8" mark.  I actually used a sharpie to mark my cutter a while back and the marks are still there. I must have been making several for a swap at the time.

To form the corner, move the bottom left corner inward and push it through flipping it over. Then take your bone folder and burnish the folds.  A glue dot will hold the bottom left corner down. Don't do it yet if you're going to add DSP over that area.  Use the link above for directions on how to cut that DSP to fit.

The corner cut area measures 3" x 3".  So I cut a piece of Mossy Meadow at 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and the DSP from the "Fine Art Floral" 12" x 12" package at 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  I taped the DSP to the Mossy Meadow piece and then I taped that to the corner flip.

The words are from the "Peaceful Moments" set and were stamped using black Memento ink.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was added to the inside and the card was done.

I forgot how fun this card was to make and even more, I forgot how quick it was.  Before I left my worktable I added two more glue dots to the fold. The one in the corner just wasn't cutting it for me. There was a gap on the left side and one on the bottom, so I added them to the center areas of those edges.  I liked the look much better.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to pop in and see this quick and easy technique,
