Butterfly Brilliance, Sweet Ice Cream, Birthday Card

This month I'm in need of several birthday cards and a Mother's Day card too.  So today I made the birthday card even though the next card I need is the Mother's Day card!!! LOL I must like to work under pressure!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.  I cut a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Ornate Floral" embossing folder. I cut a 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" piece of Coastal Cabana card stock for the layer and a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Basic Black card stock for the back layer. I taped the layers together, added Dimensionals to the back.

I set the square on top of my card to see where the words should go. The words are from the "Sweet Ice Cream set and were stamped using Coastal Cabana ink.

The butterfly is from the "Butterfly Brilliance". This is an interesting set. There are six butterflies to stamp and they are all on one piece of rubber.  And the matching die allows you to cut them all at the same time.  How cool is that?  Unless you need a bunch of one size for a swap!! LOL But I'm sure I'd figure out a way to use them later.  What's more fun than to open a set up and there inside it are some stamped pieces ready to use?  I love it when I run across that.  I stamped the butterflies using black Memento ink and then die cut them out.  I used the second largest butterfly and colored it using my Coastal Cabana marker and a Blender pen.  I highlighted some areas using only the pen.  I colored the body of the butterfly using the light Soft Suede Blends pen.  I wanted the butterfly to have some shimmer so I colored over the wings with my Wink of Stella pen. I added Dimensionals to the back of the butterfly.

I took some gold thread and wrapped it around my fingers a few times and used glue dots to hold the threads together. I stuck the treads to the front of the embossed square.

The butterfly was set in place over the thread on the textured square piece. Then the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

I added some crystal rhinestones to the butterfly and the card was done.

I think it's a bright and cheery birthday card. It was easy enough to make and gun too!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time today to see this fun butterfly card,
