Layers of Beauty, Friendship Card, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I found a pretty card on You Tube using the "Layers of Beauty" bundle. You can see the video here. I love using the masks and the video shows how to use them, though they are numbered so there isn't a lot to figuring it out.

I used a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock for the card base. And then I cut a 4" x 5-1/4"piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. On the original card the card front was textured with this folder. I don't like doing that because I feel it makes the front of the card feel weak. I glued my piece to the front of the card base.

Next I stamped the image from the "Layers of Beauty" bundle using black Memento ink. Now came the fun part and I'm serious, it's very fun. You take the stencil marked "1" and line it up on top of the stamped flower. I tape my pieces down so they don't shift on me because I tend to scrub my colors a bit too hard.

The first color I used was Bubble Bath. Then on the next stencil I used Petunia Pop ink and the third one I used Berry Burst. And the flower was colored. For the greenery I used Old Olive for the fourth and fifth stencil. And that was it. I like to make more than once since I've got the stencils all inky. I also used the fourth and fifth stencils on a couple images that I hadn't colored in yet, they are for future cards. But since I had stamped them and have the greenery stencils inky I went ahead and colored them in using my Blending Brushes.

The piece was then cut using the matching die from the bundle. It was then set in place on the front of the card over the embossed brick piece.

The words are from the same "Layers of Beauty" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut the piece to 1/2" wide and 3-1/2" long. The length will change if you use different wording. I used different wording than what was on the original card.

This was a very fun card to make. I just love the stenciling, it makes such a pretty card. It makes it look like you are really good at blending! Kind of like cheating but not! And it's amazing how fast it was to make this card.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's stenciled card,
Wanda

Beautiful flowers and great embossed background! I agree - I really like stencils, too, and this combo stamp, stencils and die is awesome.

Stunning card! So life-like! Encourages me to try stencils that I have in a drawer but have not used them.
