Snow Front, Curvy Christmas, Christmas Card, Winter Card

Looking for a serene winter/Christmas card I ran across this one on Pinterest.  I didn't have the images that were used so I got out something close and went with it. I think it worked.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is the focal piece, it's Whisper White and was cut 4" x 5-1/4".

First I made a mask of the cabin from the "Snow Front" set using a post it note. I did that first so I knew how much of the focal piece I needed to mask off.  So after fussy cutting the cabin, I set it on top of the focal piece and then took two strips of some post it note tape and taped off the sides.

The cabin was stamped using black Memento ink.  Then I put the mask over it and began the fun part. I stamped the trees using Shaded Spruce ink.

While the mask was still in place, I sponged on some Balmy Blue ink. I started at the bottom part of the cabin and worked my way to the top, keeping it lighter at the top. I also sponged on some Seaside Spray and then I added a little Rococo Rose ink.

For the specks I used my chalk marker but it ruined the tip. The tip of that pen is not like the tip of the markers or Blends. It is more brittle and it started to crumble apart. So I lightly touched the flanged tip. I don't think I'll be able to flick it anymore without it breaking off completely so I will just use it to touch the surface. It made a nicely falling snow sky.

The original card has the words under the cabin, but I didn't plan very well and I didn't leave much space for anything under there. So I moved my words over. The words are from the "Curvy Christmas" set and were stamped using Smoky Slate ink.  I thought the words should be stamped in something soft instead of black or a darker color. I like the way the card flows. The eye is always attracted to red. The eye looks at the cabin and then up from there.

I set the focal piece in place on the card front using Dimensionals.  I added a single rhinestone to the sky and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I do like how it turned out, even without having the same stamp set as the original card.  Making do with what I have!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by and have a look,                                                          Wanda
