Free as a Bird, Thank You Card, 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Today I had fun playing with the "Free as a Bird" set.  It's from the 2019-2020 catalog. I had to make it because I saw it on Pinterest and I kept thinking about it as I was looking for something else.  Obsessed?  Perhaps!  LOL  You can see the original card here.  I only made the front of the card, not the inside technique.  I have some Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Bird Ballad" 12" x 12" package that I had gotten as a gift. It was cut 4" x 6" along with some matching card stock.  I will be using this layout to make some more of these cards.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake card stock.  This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 3" piece of Pool Party DSP from the "Subtles" 6" x 6" pack.  I cut a 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Whisper White for the layer behind it.  I think what really attracted me to this card was the colors.  The Pool Party and the Crumb Cake go so well together, it's very pleasing to the eye.  I taped the DSP to the Whisper White piece.

Then I wrapped some Polka Dot Tulle ribbon around the left side and taped the ends on the back using scotch tape.  And then I taped the piece to the front of the card base.

I cut a piece of Shimmery White card stock using the third largest "Stitched Nested Labels" die.

I stamped the birds from the "Free as a Bird" set using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock. I colored them in using both light and dark Crumb Cake Blends pens, dark Crushed Curry, light Old Olive and light and dark Pool Party.  After coloring, I die cut them out using the 4th largest die in the set.  I taped the two pieces together.  I set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. I centered it as best as I could.

The words are from the same set and I stamped them using black Memento ink. I cut them on the paper cutter and snipped the ends to give them that ribbon end look.  I set them in place using Dimensionals.  I was going to add them to the bottom part but I did like how the pearls looked, so I left them at the top.

I tied a bow using the Polka Dot ribbon and set it in place on top of the ribbon strip using a glue dot.

I added the three pearls at the bottom right and the card was done.  I thought it went rather quickly.  Now if you opt to do the whole technique thing on the inside of the card, it will take a little longer than just the front.  I have done that technique before and I think it's a fun and easy one to do.

I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White to the inside and the card was done.

I really do like the colors.  I want to make one as a birthday card I will be needing in a couple of weeks.

Thank you SO much for popping in today,
Wanda
