Perennial Birthday, Butterfly Gala, Birthday Card, Crossover Gate Fold Technique

Yesterday I had attended a swap and I posted the wiper card technique on my card.  I had also made the "Crossover Gate Fold" technique. A friend of mine at the swap had given me one of her swap cards a few months back and I had not participated in the swap and I had felt like I owed her a card.  SO, since I had some time on my hands (not really - I was doing laundry and my workroom is next to the laundry room and MY rule is you need to be near the washer in the event that it might go off balance.  Even in all the years I've had the machine it hasn't gone off balance, but there is that chance and I don't want to take it, right?  LOL) I played with this technique.

This is a super quick card to make.  Well, quicker than yesterday's card.  But all in all, it is a quick card.  You cut a piece of card stock 4-1/4" x 11", here I used Poppy Parade.  You score it on the long side at 2-3/4" and 8-1/4".  The score lines are folded in.

I cut two piece of Poppy Parade Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" Brights collection.  They measure 1-11/16" x 5".  I also cut two Basic Black pieces of card stock that measure 1-15/16" x 5-1/4".  I taped those two layers together.  I taped them on top of the card front.  Be sure to only tape to where the strip meets the card front.  I taped the left side on the top and the right side on the bottom.

The words are from the "Perennial Birthday" set. I stamped them on Whisper White card stock using black Memento ink.  I die cut them using the third longest thin rectangle die from the "Rectangle Stitched Framelits" dies.  For those of  you who don't have the dies, the piece measures just a hair over 3-1/4" x just a hair over 1-1/4".  I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock that was 1/8" larger than the stitched piece.  I taped those pieces together and then set it in place on the bottom panel using Dimensionals.

The Whisper White butterflies are from the "Butterfly Beauty" thinlits that compliment the "Butterfly Gala" stamp set.  It's a fun and cheery set to play with.  The butterflies are die cut in one large piece so I had to cut the butterflies off of the large center butterfly.  I wasn't able to save the large butterfly but that's okay, I got four butterflies off it and two I'll save for another project some day down the road!  I set the butterflies in place using Dimensionals and Dimensional pieces.  I colored the butterflies with the Wink of Stella brush and when they dried I added a black faceted rhinestone to each one.

The "Butterfly Beauty" thinlits also came with some tiny butterflies. I die cut one from a scrap of Poppy Parade card stock and glued it to the 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White piece I taped to the inside of the card.  I just put it in the bottom right corner for a little touch of fun!

I liked making this card. I thought it was a lot of fun.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
