Varied Vases, Butterfly Gala, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Birthday Card

I had to laugh while I was making this card.  I did some things that made me raise my own eyebrows in dismay!  LOL

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Soft Sea Foam.  On top is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Soft Sea Foam that I stamped some tiny flower bunches on using Soft Sea Foam ink and I sponged the edges with Soft Sea Foam ink. I taped the stamped piece to the card base.

I cut a "Pearl Doily" in half and set it on the card front. Then I stamped the bumpy line image on Whisper White card stock.  I thought it would be great as a makeshift shelf so a brown would be a good color choice.  I colored it with the dark Soft Suede Blends pen.  Laughing at myself, I could have just stamped the image on Soft Suede card stock.  DUH!

Then I took some vellum and used the "Starburst" punch and punched out two of them.  I cut the bottom off about 1/4" and I ran a little tape along the bottom to hold the two pieces together. I did add a little tape where the vase was going to be too.  It just needed a little extra hold. I also added tape to that same spot on the back so I had some in the inside holding the two pieces together and one on the back to hold it to the card.

Next I stamped the vase from the "Varied Vases" set using Coastal Cabana ink.  I punched it out with the matching punch.  I set the vase in place using Dimensionals but only after I finished stamping and fussy cutting the flower cluster.  I had also added a little dot of Daffodil Delight to the center of each flower.  I glued the stem of the flower to the vellum and then the vase was added.

I had an extra butterfly from a previous card so I just set it in place on the card with a Dimensional.  The butterfly is from the "Butterfly Gala" set.

The words and border around the words are from the "Happy Birthday Gorgeous" set. I used black Memento ink to stamp them.  I was thinking that maybe I should have used Bermuda Bay or Soft Suede to stamp the words.  It's kind of dark at the bottom of the card.  But as I look at it, my eyes move from the words to the vase to the butterfly, so it's got the artistic movement that a piece of artwork should have.  So I guess it's okay!

This was a fun card to make and maybe next time I will use colored card stock.  LOL  But it was simple enough to just color it with the Blends Pen.  Either way, the job got done!

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
