Avant Garden, Birthday Card

First of all, I don't make very many cards that are landscape, I usually make them portrait and the fold is on the left side.  Well, the fold is on the left side here, so maybe that is why it didn't seem very different to me when making it.  Such a creature of habit.

While looking for some samples of the Sale-a-Bration set "Avant Garden", I ran across one I liked the colors of.  I was going to copy the card but decided to go in a different direction with it. You can see the card I found on Pinterest by clicking here.  I liked the flower cluster the most, so I proceeded to copy it some what.

I did have to cut two masks so I could get the flowers in there nicely and the leaves as well.  I stamped the So Saffron flower first.  Then I covered it with a mask and stamped the Peekaboo Peach flower.  I masked that and then stamped the Delightful Dijon flower.  Then I stamped the leaf images using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I did have to move the masks around so I could stamp where I needed without the green getting on my flowers.   The center of the flower was open.  I didn't pay attention to the details on the one I saw on Pinterest, so I didn't move my flowers in close enough to cover that hole.  Fortunately the set had a stamen image so I inked it up with Soft Suede and stamped it in the middle.  I was glad it worked out that way because I was able to use Soft Suede cardstock for my layers and the base of my card.

The words were done on my computer.  Someone had asked about the fonts I used.  Curlz for the "birthday" and Cambria for the "wishes".  I set the image and the words in place using Dimensionals.

As I look at the card, I am pleased with how it turned out but I think a little strip of Soft Suede between the two pieces of Pear Pizzazz Decorative Paper would have given it a nice touch.  It's too late to do anything about it because the Dimensionals will rip the Decorative Paper if I try to remove the images. But for future reference, I will make a mental note of that (which will get lost up there and never surface again!!! LOL

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

Another great card. Thanks for the info on the font. Unfortunately my computer does not have Curlz on it.

Love the way this turned out, even without the strip of soft suede!! Masking the flowers as you did just made a gorgeous bouquet!! Also wondered what font you used for your 'new' Birthday wishes - it is so cute and whimsical!!

I've not usually used the computer to print sentiments, but great idea! Cheryl, go to a free font site and you can download HUNDREDS of fonts!

It’s never Too late to add that strip. Cut it in half and slide the ends underneath each side of the raised flower image. Done!
