Avant-Garden, Birthday Card, 2017 Sale-a-Bration

I wanted to play with the "Avant-Garden" set again but I wanted to use the flower cluster this time.  Though I do think I like the single flower better, I knew I had to give this image a try. I want to try to use every image in my sets. Many times I buy a set for just one image in it.  So sad!!!  SO I am challenging myself to use more images in each set. Hopefully all of the images!  That would be ideal!  Other than a couple of word images in this set, I have used the bulk of them! That makes me happy since this is a Sale-a-Brations set and retires on March 31st.  It seems like a long enough time, but when you mix it with the new sets in the new Occasions catalog, it really isn't!

So, onto my card. It's a very simple card to make.  The base of my card is Basic Black. The next layer is Whisper White cut 4_ x 5-1/4".  Then I cut a piece of the dotted green paper from the "Serene Scenes" 6" x 6" pad.  The color on the front said it was Old Olive but when I cut a piece of Old Olive card stock for my layer, it looked too green, so I went with Pear Pizzazz.  I stamped my image and then I trimmed it up and from there I measured it and cut my layers 1/8" larger.

The words were done on my computer. I'll be working on the PDF for them this weekend and it should be in my web store a couple of days after that (unless I can enter it in by myself without any help).  There is a very nice "Happy Birthday Wishes" in the set that fits nicely in the oval and scalloped oval dies that you see used here.  I just happened to have had these words already die cut and I thought I would use them.  The lazy part in me shows up every now and then!!!  LOL
The flower was colored in using Pear Pizzazz for the stem, leaves and under the flowers.  And the flowers were colored in using Wisteria Wonder.  I just colored directly from the marker, no blending. You gotta LOVE that!!!  And that was it.  Simple, quick and easy!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
