Snow Front, Christmas Ornament, 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Now for something completely different! I found this idea on a stamping blog. You can see it here. There's a video on how to stamp on wood. The original ornament used the deer stamp. I didn't have that stamp set but I did have a tree and bird so that is what I played with and it worked.

I had my husband slice me up some wood pieces. We had a black walnut tree that had to be cut down and we saved a few of the branches. I wasn't sure why but I convinced my husband that I really needed them.  See why you should never toss anything out?  My slice is a bit oblong, it doesn't matter.  It measures about 2-3/4" x 3".  And that includes the bark.  I did have to sand it a little bit, it wasn't as smooth as I wanted it. You don't want any of the rings in the piece to be able to be felt with your fingers or the stamp will not hit all the surfaces you want it to.

I took the tree from the "Snow Front" set and stamped it using black Staz-On ink.  While that was drying I took the bird from the set and used Real Red ink to stamp it on one of the branches.

I was going to stamp a sun onto the wood but the center rings of the branch kind of look like a cold winter sun.

Then I took one of the ground images from the set and stamped on the wood using Old Olive. After stamping that I realized that it won't look so wintery if the ground is green. So I thought I would cover it up with Whisper White Craft ink. I also added some lines of Whisper White craft ink to the trees to make it look like there was snow on the branches.  A little while later I noticed that the craft ink was not drying. SO I dabbed it off onto a paper towel and I repeated that until I could no longer see any on my finger when I checked to see if it was gone.  I took out my white acrylic paint and I colored over the stamped area. If you look really close you can see on the left side of the tree the green was starting to come through. I also added the paint to the branches.  The paint tried and I sealed it with some Modge Podge. Modge Podge will make the water base inks bleed. The bird got a little bit fuzzy, but not too much. You want to take a quick thin sweep over the bird and let it dry. Once dry repeat and when that is dry then cover the entire piece. I think if I give it another coat of paint it may hide it. Painting on top of the Modge Podge should keep that yellowish color in it's place.  Or I may just leave it as it is. It's my first stamping on wood piece ever!!!  

The original ornament used some of the new gold eyelash ribbon. I didn't buy any but I did have some white so I used that. I took some of the new Christmas ribbon with the gold edge and tied a knot at the tip. Then I tied the white eyelash thread/yarn to the ribbon. 

I had some jingle bells left over that were retired so I colored two of them using Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow Blends pens.  I let them dry and then tied the silver one (gold would have been better  but I'm using what I have) to the ribbon. I tied the red and green one to the silver bells string and the piece was done. 

I think it's adorable. It's got a nice rustic look to it. A great ornament for a guys tree too!  

I believe you can order wood slices online. I didn't shop for any because I had access to them.  I have a bunch sliced and drilled and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them all.  I do have grandkids here next month and maybe they'd like to paint some for their tree.  This was a fun time stamping. It was something different for a change!

Christmas Card, October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternative Card

Today I'm going to share with you another fun October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit card.  I am amazed at how many fun and pretty cards I was able to make with the supplies in the kit.  This is not one of my favorites but I wanted to make another card where I used one of the gold words that came in the kit. I found this card in a video about 18 minutes in. It's easy to follow along.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake card stock. This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

The background strip measures 5-1/2" x 2".  This piece is from the inside of one of the envelopes from the kit. This piece was taped in place on the front of the card, centering it as much as possible.

The foil banner strip was taped in place on to of the envelope strip. I tried to center it as much as possible.

I took a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Just Jade card stock and stamped the wreath image from the kit using Just Jade ink.  This piece was then taped to one of the square pieces in the kit.

I took one of the tags from the kit and stamped the "to you and yours" on it using Just Jade ink and then taped it to on top of the wreath image. 

A bit of glue was added to the foil word "peace" and it was set in place on top of the wreath and over the top edge of the white label.  Then the piece was set in place using Dimensionals.

For the final touch, a bow was made using the Cherry Cobbler twine that came in the kit.

I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside of the card and it was done.

This was another fun card made from the kit. It was easy and quick to make too!

Itty Bitty Christmas, Christmas Layers, Snowflake Splendor, Christmas Card

I found a card on the internet that I liked. It was the layout that I really liked. It was something that I hadn't done before. You'd think with all the years I've been stamping that I would have done something like this. But I haven't. There's still more out there to find and do that is new to me! You can see the original card here. If you make the card from this link, you need to be careful of the measurements. There's an error on the size of the focal piece. It's not a big deal, it's just not small enough. So you will have to do a little more trimming. It's not like it's too small and your piece of card stock is ruined. This is fixable. Just thought I'd fill you in on that.

This is a very simple card to make. The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. 

The Night of Navy piece is cut 5" x 3-3/4".

The Whisper White focal piece is cut 4-7/8" x 3-5/8".

On the focal piece I took the snowflake die from the "Christmas Layers" dies and set in the upper right corner and ran it through my Big Shot. Then I moved the die to the bottom right corner and die cut it there too. Save the snowflakes, you need to put them back in place.

I turned the focal piece over and set the snowflakes back in place. I used my multi-purpose glue and glued along the outside tips of the center design. If this is confusing, look at the snowflake. See the darker center part. There's tips on that center part. That is where I put some glue and then I moved the glue along the cut lines with a toothpick.  I set this aside to dry.

In the meantime I took some Whisper White Baker's Twine and colored it with my light Balmy Blue Blends pen. You can also color it with your ink pad, it will just be a bit darker. To lighten it you can grab the twine with a pretty damp but not sopping wet folded paper towel (folded about 4 times so the ink doesn't bleed through onto your hands) and pull the thread through the paper towel. This will take off some of the ink to lighten it up. Set this aside to dry. You need it dry. Mine wasn't quite dry and it made a mark on my white area. You can also use your heat embossing tool to help dry it.

Tape the focal piece to the Night of Navy piece. 

I cut a 4-7/8" x 1-1/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Snowflake Splendor" 12" x 12" package.  I set it on top of the Whisper White focal piece and I made a light pencil line so I knew where it would go when I was done stamping.  I used my Balmy Blue marker and flicked some ink onto the piece. It needed a little something more than just plain white. Perhaps the snowflake embossing folder would work if you don't have a snowflake die. I think it would be pretty too.

The words are from the "Itty Bitty Christmas" set and were stamped using Night of Navy ink. The pencil mark was erased and the DSP was taped in place.  Wrap the twine around the two layers and tie a bow. 

Tape the piece onto the card base and the card is done.  As simple as that.  Pretty, huh?

Christmas Card, October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card

Here's a super simple and cute card using the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit. Most of the pieces are from the kit except for the card base and the ribbon cut piece. I found the card here in a video. You can see the card about 11 minutes into the video but there's no instructions.  

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Soft Sea Foam card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I had a piece of Designer Series Paper sitting around from another project. It came from the "Flowers for Every Season" Designer Series Paper (DSP) 6" x 6" stack.  It was cut 2" x 4-3/8" and punched using the Triple Banner Punch. 

On top of that is one of the textured rectangle pieces from the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit.  

The word strip is from a piece left over from the inside of one of the envelopes from the kit. It's cut 4-1/4" x 1-5/8" wide. 

The word "joy" is from the kit and stamped on a piece of one of the cards from the kit. It was punched out using the "Timeless Label" punch.  

The flower is from the kit and was set in place using Dimensionals.  I did add some Wink of Stella to the darker lines of the flower to give it some sparkle. And that was it. Super easy and quick.  Not one of my favorites but it's still pretty.

One of the fun things about the Paper Pumpkin kits is that you can change the original designs suggested and make whatever you want with the parts. There's lots of places on Pinterest to see many alternative cards. You get an ink cube each month too. I have almost all of the colors of cubes. Some I know I will never get. They tend to use the darker colors that show up. So like Daffodil Delight or So Saffron will probably not be in the kits. But that's okay, I ordered empty cubes and inked them up so I have a full collection of the small cubes.  It's nice to grab and go with them.  And another plus, you get to make a bunch of cards as opposed to the 8 the kit usually comes with.  The September 2020 kit was party favors. Nothing I would ever make but I played with that kit for many days because of all the parts in it. I had to stop playing with it because, well, Halloween came and went and the new kit had already come.  I had a lot of fun with these last two kits. I tend to make the kit as it shows but making alternative cards is a lot more fun. It depends on how much you want to play or be done! I highly recommend the Paper Pumpkin kits.

Geared Up Garage, Here's a Card, Masculine Birthday Card

My masculine card stash is pretty low, so I thought I would see what I could come up with today.  There's not a lot of masculine stamp sets available. This one is from last year but is still current. Though I do have a feeling it will be retiring and not be in the 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog. SO that means I need to play with it some more. I still have some Designer Series Paper (DSP) left too. It was designed to go with the stamp set.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.

I had a strip of DSP from the "Classic Garage" 6" x 6" paper stack. I cut it to 5-1/2" long because I believe it was still 6" long. This piece measures 5-1/2" x 2".

I stamped the car from the "Geared Up Garage" set using black Memento ink. I die cut it with the matching die.

I had a Basic Gray circle inside the set from something left over or an idea waiting to be created.  It measures about 2-5/8" and the Basic Black piece behind it was die cut using the largest "Stitched Circle" die. I taped those two pieces together. 

The words are from the "Here's a Card" set and were stamped using black Memento ink.

I taped the circles on the front of the card and I set the car in place using Dimensionals and the card was finished.  

If you don't have the DSP, you can always find something current to replace it.

Wedding Card, Sending Love, October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card

This card is SO totally different from the other cards I've seen using the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit. Most of them were Christmas cards but this one is more of a wedding, anniversary or even a Valentine's Day card. I found the card here, it's about 20.5 minutes into the video.  You can see that video here.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Blushing Bride card stock.  The card stock was stamped using Calypso Coral ink and the flower stamp from the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit. You don't need to stamp the flowers all the way to the top, though I don't think it would matter if you did.

The Calypso Coral strip of card stock was cut 4-`/4" x 1-1/2".  Before you tape the strip in place, set the "love" words on the right so you can see where you need to stamp the "sending" words. They were stamped using Calypso Coral ink.

The flower was stamped on a piece of Whisper White card stock  using Calypso Coral ink and then fussy cut. I used my Wink of Stella pen to color in the flower. It picks up a bit of the ink too and gives it a soft colored look.

The "love" is from the Paper Pumpkin kit and was set in place using a little bit of glue. Then the panel was set in place on top of the card using double sided tape.

The flower was set in place using a few small Dimensionals.

A 3/8" x 4-1/4" strip of one of the cards from the kit was taped in place just under the Calypso Coral piece and the card was done.

It's a quick, easy and pretty card. I wanted to make this card because I knew I wouldn't be using the "love" from the kit. But when I saw this card I thought it was a perfect opportunity to use "love".  And I have a wedding coming up so it was perfect timing too.

This was a fun card to make and super quick.

Snow Front, Masculine Christmas or Holiday Card

As I promised, no Paper Pumpkin card today.  Though I have several other ones I'd like to make from that kit. I thought last months kit was fun but this one is just as fun and prettier because it's Christmas themed. I found this pretty card on Pinterest.  It's kind of busy but yet it's got some fun things going on in it. You've got the sun setting behind the mountains, pine trees in rows, a cute snowman and a little dear by a pond. You can see the original card here. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Mossy Meadow card stock. 

The focal piece was die cut using the largest "Stitched Rectangle" dies. The layer behind it is Coastal Cabana. I tried to cut it 4" x 5-1/4" but the stitched die piece was not 1/8" smaller, so you will need to adjust the size on your paper cutter.  My focal piece is Very Vanilla card stock.

I stamped the two mountains first using Soft Suede ink. I used a sponge dauber and So Saffron to make the sun.

The trees on the right were added first and then the green hills. Both were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink. Then the trees in the front and middle were added.

Balmy Blue that was stamped off once was used for the blue hills. The snowman and pond were also stamped using Balmy Blue ink.

The deer was stamped using Soft Suede ink.

I took my Basic Black marker and colored in the snowman hat and I used the Pumpkin Pie marker to make the snowman nose orange.

The layers were taped together and a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock was added to the inside and the card was done.

There was a lot of stamping on this card but it was worth it. It's a great winter/holiday card. It could even be used for a masculine birthday, get well, sympathy or thinking of you card.  It was a fun card to make!

Christmas Card, October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card

I had found this pretty "Arrow Fold" technique card using the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit and when I went to open the window Pinterest decided to reload some "new" images for me. I tried to hit the back button but it just took me to Google. So I tried to find the card with no luck at all. Then it caused me to try to make it from memory. And this is what I ended up with. It's not the same but it's close. 

I know I posted an October 2020 Paper Pumpkin card yesterday but I had to post this one because I was working from memory and the card was ready as much as it could be.

I followed the instructions I had written up in a previous post. You can see them here and I will also explain as I go on here. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Cherry Cobbler card stock. This card opens at the bottom and the fold is at the top. 

With a pencil, I lightly marked the bottom edge of the front of the card at the halfway mark at 2-3/4". And then I marked the sides at the halfway mark at 2-1/8".  Score the piece from the top corner of the fold to the center of the bottom of the front where you made your mark. Then for the next score you keep the bottom center on the scoring line and score to the 2-1/8" mark.  Repeat for the other side.

With the card closed and facing you. Fold the long score lines inward on both sides and fold the shorter score lined outward.  Look here at the photo of the card I posted yesterday to see the inside of the card.  You will need to use your bone folder to make those score lines nice and crisp. And you will also need to glue them down because they won't stay down.  Be sure not to add glue where it's not needed.  Just open and close the folds to see where the glue should go.

I used some gold foil card stock and cut it 4" x 5-1/4".  This piece will need to be marked at the bottom half way at 2-5/8". Now you will need to cut from the 2-5/8" to the top corner.  Repeat for the other side.  Try to keep the pieces together. It's easy to get them mixed up. I taped the two smaller pieces to the inside of the card so they were out of the way.  Then I taped the larger piece on the front of the card.

I taped the middle foil piece to the center front of the card. On the inside I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White and then I taped the other two foil pieces on top, lining up the bottom and sides.  

Then I cut one of the cards from the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit at 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  I marked the center at 2-9/16".  It's between the 2-1/2" and 2-5/8" mark.  I cut it from the top corner to my center mark, on both sides. The center piece was taped to the front of the card on top of the gold foil piece.

I taped the two side pieces to the inside of the card. You may want to trim the long angle side 1/8" or it will just line up equal with the gold foil paper on that one side. That is how mine ended up. It's still pretty whatever way you do it. 

I took some of the Cherry Cobbler twine from the kit and made three loops. I added glue dots to hold the threads in place.  I took one of the flower die cut pieces and hovered over the front of the card to see where the threads should go. Then I pressed the threads in place. 

Dimensionals were added to the back of the flower. But before the flower was set in place, I punched two gold foil card stock pieces using the "Sprig" punch. I taped those in place and then I set the flower in place.  I added some Wink of Stella to the darker areas of the flower but it didn't show up in the photo but in person it's very pretty.  And the card was done.

If you happen to run across a card very similar to this one on the internet, please post a link so I can give credit to the original designer.  I do know there was no Cherry Cobbler threads on the original card. This is all I remembered of the original card and I winged the rest.

Christmas Card, October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card

I have found several pretty cards using the October Paper Pumpkin kit. I will be making some later and posting them. This one I came up with on my own. I know, what a surprise!! Sometimes I can do that!  LOL

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.

I took the inside of the envelope that came in the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit and cut it to 1-1/2" x 5". I taped it to the bottom of the card front.

The kit comes with some Cherry Cobbler twine. I wrapped it around my fingers three times and stuck them together with a glue dot to hold them while I positioned them on the front of the card. I did need to take the die cut flower image and hover over the area so I could sew how much thread would be showing. Once I saw where I wanted it to go, I just pressed the glue dot onto the card.

The flower was added using Dimensionals. 

The "joy" is from the kit and I used a little glue to set it in place. There's tiny glue dots in the kit that could be used to affix it. I went with the glue, I thought it would be easier.

And that's it. It's super easy and quick and I used up the pretty part of the envelope flap!

Life is Beautiful, Thinking of You Card, 2020 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

I needed to make a quick thinking of you or get well card. Thinking of you covers that and in my case, this card is late and hopefully the one receiving it is well on their way to recovery, so thinking of you works better. I thought I would play with the  "Life is Beautiful" set again before it goes from fall to a winter tree.  We had super strong winds here last week and all of the trees in our neighborhood are bare now. We got all the leaves raked up and the ground is ready for winter. But it can hold off for a while longer. As much as I love the snow, I am not ready for it yet.

So, onto my card.  The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Pumpkin Pie card stock.

On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.

I stamped the tree from the "Life is Beautiful" set using Soft Suede ink. 

The leaves were stamped using Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, and Crushed Curry ink. 

I took my Pumpkin Pie marker and flicked some ink on the card. To flick it you just take the tip of the marker and put it on the inside of the cap about 1/8" in and then push the tip of the marker outward. The ink flicks off the pen and spatters on the card stock.  It's fun but I often wonder if it will ruin the markers.

The words are from the same set and were stamped on a scrap piece of card stock using Soft Suede ink. I die cut them using the oval die and I die cut a Pumpkin Pie layer using the scalloped oval that was just a little bit larger. I taped the ovals together and I added Dimensionals to the back.

I had some twine/thread leftover from a previous Paper Pumpkin kit so I thought I'd use it on this card. I wrapped it around three fingers and taped the ends together with a couple of glue dots.  I set the thread on the card and then I set the oval in place.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White was added to the inside of the card and it was done.  

I told you it was a quick card. This could also be used or a masculine birthday, get well or sympathy card. It's got some versatility to it.

Christmas Card, October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternative Card

I just new I had to make this card when I saw it on Pinterest. It's SO pretty and it's an alternative card using the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit.  The cards in the kit are nice but not very colorful. This card is bright and cheery.  There's a video for this card but there are really no instructions with measurements. I will provide them as I describe how I put the card together.

First you will need a folded half-sheet of Cherry Cobbler.  

Take one of the envelopes in the kit and trim off the sides and bottom, very close to the sides and bottom. Cut the larger area 4" x 5-1/4". Save the strip that is left over. I did trim mine so I had an evenly cut rectangle for a future card. The envelope piece was taped to the Cherry Cobbler card base.

There are some Whisper White pieces in the kit that are already embossed. I used the rectangle cut piece and taped it on top of the envelope piece.

I took a 1" x 4-1/2" piece of Just Jade card stock and punched the end with the "Triple Banner" punch. Then I stamped the "Merry Christmas" that was in the kit. I used Just Jade ink.  I taped it on top of the Whisper White piece.

Then I took some of the Cherry Cobbler thread that came in the kit and I wrapped it around my fingers to form three circles. I used glue dots to hold the ends in place so I could set it down while I decided where it needed to go. I did set the die cut flower piece over the area to give me an idea of where to affix the thread.  Once the thread was affixed, I added Dimensionals to the die cut piece and set it in place on the front of the card. 

I took some clear dots that I had left over from a previous Paper Pumpkin kit and I added them to the front of the card.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock was taped to the inside of the card and the card was done.

It's SO pretty. I like it a whole lot better than the ones in the kit.

Framed for You, Forever Fern, Good Morning Magnolia, Thinking of You Card

I took out my "Framed for You" set and thought I'd make a fall card with it. Here's what I came up with. I had seen a card made using some leaves in a circle from another set and thought this set would work. It's smaller but it worked.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. 

I took a 3-3/8" x 3-3/8" piece of Whisper White card stock to stamp my leaves on. I punched out a 1-1/2" circle mask from copier paper and used removable tape to hold it in the center of my piece. Then I stamped the leaves. Looking at the circle as a clock, I stamped the Crushed Curry color first at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. Then I stamped Granny Apple Green next to the Crushed Curry going clockwise. I did this all around. The next color is Pumpkin Pie and the final color is Rich Razzleberry. I accidently stamped an extra Rich Razzleberry and I bet you didn't notice until I mentioned it.  I think it would be prettier if I had squished the leaves together more so more Rich Razzleberry leaves could be added. I like the look.  But it's done and it's still pretty colorful!  

After I stamped the leaves I added some Rich Razzleberry dots to the image. The dots are from the "Forever Fern" set. 

The words are from the "Good Morning Magnolia" set and were stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White using Rich Razzleberry ink. I did heat set my ink because I've been having bad luck lately with the ink not being dry enough before I touched it. I die cut the words using the 1-5/8" circle die. I set the words in place on top of the stamped leaves. The word circle is just a little bit larger than the circle I used as a mask.

I cut a 3-5/8" x 3-5/8" piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock for the layer. I taped the two pieces together.

Then I cut two 3/8" x 5-1/2" pieces of Pumpkin Pie card stock strips.  I taped them to the front of the card. I tried to center them as much as possible.  Then I taped the focal piece in place and the card was done.  

It's sweet and simple. Oh and very colorful! This would make a great masculine birthday card too. There's no lacy frills or big bows on it!! A get well card, thank you card, and a thank you card.

Forever Fern, Itty Bitty Christmas, Christmas Card, 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Today's card came from the same page as yesterday's card. I liked both cards that were displayed and I made the one that was my favorite but I still liked the other card very much so I thought I'd play with that one.  You can see the original card here. There were no instructions so I had to wing it.  Here's how I made the card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock. This card opens from the bottom and the fold is on the top.

The Whisper White focal piece was cut 4" x 2-7/8". The Real Red piece behind it is cut  4-1/8" x 3". The Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Heart Warming Hugs" 12" x 12" pack was cut 4-1/2" x 3-3/8".  I had just enough of the DSP left to make this card. Now I hope I don't run across another card that used that paper!!! And the Whisper White piece behind the DSP was cut 4-5/8" x  3-1/2".

I stamped the words on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock. They are from the "Itty Bitty Christmas" set. They were stamped using Real Red ink. I die cut them with the smallest Stitched circles dies. I also die cut a silver foil circle using the next size larger circle in the "Layering Circles" dies.  And I cut a Real Red scalloped circle. I used the 4-1/8" x 3" piece to cut my scalloped circle from. Just cut in the center and the hole in the piece won't show.

I took the focal piece and I stamped the dotted image from the "Forever Fern" using Versa Mark and silver embossing powder. I heat set the powder and then taped the piece to the Real Red layer.

I stamped the leaves using Old Olive ink. I stamped and die cut two of them. I also stamped the round leaves image using Real Red. I stamped and die cut two of them. I colored them in with Wink of Stella to give it a bit of a shimmer plus it pulls up some of the color to make the leaves a bit darker.

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White and added it to the inside of the card.

To assemble the card I taped the Old Olive leaves on at an angle in the upper left and lower right corners. Then I taped the Real Red leaves in place. 

I assembled the circles. I taped the stitched round one to the silver circle and then set them in place on top of the Real Red scalloped circle using Dimensionals.  I taped this in place on top of the center of the leaves.

 

The focal piece was then taped to the Real Red piece. The DSP was taped to the large Whisper White piece and set in place on the front of the card. Then the finished focal piece was set in place on top of the DSP using Dimensionals.

The bow is some retired ribbon I had and I added some Wink of Stella to it to give it some shimmer. I attached the bow with a pop up glue dot.  I forgot to add the red rhinestones. Though I may just leave it as it is, I kind of like the cleaner look. 

This was a very fun card to make. And it's SO pretty. I LOVE how this card looks. It's sweet and elegant.

Forever Ferns, Christmas Card, 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I saw this card on Pinterest and knew I had to make it. There was just something about it that attracted my eye to it. I love the colors. Red is not my favorite color but I am SO loving it on here.  Plus now that Halloween is over and we can move past those colors, it's time for some Thanksgiving and Christmas colors. You can see the original card here. I did make a few changes because of lack of materials. There were no instructions for this card, so here is how I made it.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On the top is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.

The focal piece is cut from a piece of Whisper White card stock and measures 3-7/8" x 2-5/8".  The layer behind it is a 4" x 2-3/4" piece of the silver foil card stock. And the Real Red layer behind that is cut 4-1/8" x 2-7/8".  The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Heartwarming Hugs" 12" x 12" pack. Mine piece was 4" x 6". It was a gift so I had to be careful about using it. On the original card, this pieces is cut 4-1/4" long. Mine was cut at 4" because that is how it came. I could have turned it and cut from the other side but I wanted to make sure I had some DSP left to play with, there's lots of weeks left before Christmas and I don't plan on buying this pack of DSP. So I made do with what I had and it looks just fine, actually I like it better than it hanging over the Whisper White piece. I taped the Real Red piece on top of the 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White piece.

I stamped the leaves first. The leaves are from the "Forever Ferns" set. I LOVE it that I can use this set for more than one season. It does make a pretty Christmas card.  The leaves were stamped using Old Olive ink. The round leaves were stamped using Real Red ink on a scrap piece of Whisper White and were die cut with the matching dies from the bundle.

Now before you tape the Real Red leaves in place you will want to stamp the dots. I used Versa Mark and silver embossing powder. I also added words to the front of my card. They are from the "Itty Bitty Christmas" set. They were stamped with Versa Mark and then embossed with the silver embossing powder. 

The Real Red leaves were taped in place after they were colored in using Wink of Stella. The Wink of Stella makes the red bleed a bit to fill in the leaves and it gives it a nice subtle sparkle.

Once the Real Red leaves were taped in place, I taped the Whisper White piece to the silver foil piece. The DSP was taped top of the Real Red piece on the card base. And then a 1/4" x 4" piece of the silver foil was taped across the DSP about 1/2" up from the bottom of the DSP. Then the Whisper White and silver foil taped layers were taped to the Real Red piece on the card base.

I colored a few rhinestone using my dark Blends pen and I set them in place on the front of the card. I tied a ribbon in to a bow and set it in place using half a large glue dot. I didn't have the same ribbon that was used in the photo but I had some that was close so I use it and I also went over the ribbon with my Wink of Stella pen. I did that after I tied it. I also heat set it because it got pretty wet from my Wink of Stella pen. I didn't know how much sparkle I was getting. It is now dry and has a nice subtle sparkle to it. I like how it looks. The sparkle doesn't show up in the photo but trust me, it's there and it's very pretty. If you click on the photo you might be able to see it closer but I don't think the light caught it right. I never thought to use Wink of Stalla on my ribbons before. I may have started a new trend!!

This was a very fun card to make. I think it's SO pretty. It's elegant and stunning.
