Art Gallery, Thinking of You Card, Book Technique, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Today I tried something I have never done before. A friend of mine had a live stamping class. Since it was after dinner and things wind down for the evening and there's nothing going on to bog down the internet connection, I decided to give it a try. I tried to get all of my supplies ready in advance but I failed at that. I wasn't ready but I did manage to keep up for the most part. After the video was over I was affixing my pieces and I added words.  You can watch that video here.  Colleen will be doing these every Monday evening, so if you have the time, play along. This card was done in 15 minutes. You can see the video here.

I ended up grabbing my paper cutter and my package of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Fine Art Floral" 12" x 12" package so I could use the same papers. I didn't feel like being creative and since it was a "Mystery Card" I was lost at what papers to use.

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It was cut at 4-1/4" x 11".  Cut your sheet in half on the short side. It was scored at 4-1/2" and 5-1/2".

The space between the score lines was glued shut. Now you have your "book".

The strip on the left was cut 4" x 1" from coordinating DSP. And the larger piece was cut 4" x 4". Both were glued to the front of the card.

The flower is from the "Art Gallery" set and was stamped using Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry ink. Then it was die cut using the matching die.

The Smoky Slate piece was die cut using the second largest rectangle die in the "Stitched So Sweetly" set. I'm SO glad this isn't retired. I LOVE these dies.  Then I set up the rectangle in my Stamparatus and I stamped the leaves from the "Art Gallery" set using Mossy Meadow ink.

Next the flower was set in place using Dimensionals and Dimensionals were added to the back of the Smoky Slate piece. I set my piece in place on the card towards the right side instead of centering it like the original card is.

I stamped the words from the "Art Gallery" set on Basic White card stock using Mossy Meadow ink and I die cut them with the die that is with the "Art Gallery" bundle.  Two Dimensionals were added to the left side and glue to the right and the word piece was set in place.

Three pearls were added to the center of the flower and the card was done.

This was a fun online class. I was glad the stars lined up so I could play along. If I were to make this card again, I think I would use vellum like Colleen showed in the beginning of the video, and use Basic White or maybe even Very Vanilla behind it. I'm not loving the gray.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by to see today's card,
Wanda
