Art Gallery, Hydrangea Hill DSP, Thank You Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

I was looking for a card that used the new "Double Oval" punch. I only bought the punch and not the stamp set that matches it. I figured I had enough word stamps that would fit in that opening on the punch. I had to budget so I needed to pick one, the set or the punch. The punch won!  Anyway, I found the original card here, I changed it just a little.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. The piece before folding measured 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Hydrangea Hill" 12" x 12" pack. It was cut at 4" x 2-1/4". It was cut at 2-1/4" because I had used a piece on another project and that was the width that was left, so I figured I could work with it.

The top piece on the card is Highland Heather that was textured using the "Painted Texture" embossing folder. I embossed and then I cut it. I didn't want it to shrink after texturing, so I texture first and then cut. I cut that piece at 4" x 2-1/2".

The Basic Black strip in the middle hides where the two pieces meet or don't meet. It measures 4-1/4" x 1".

The focal piece is Basic White and measures 2-1/2" x 3-3/4". The Highland Heather layer behind it measures 2-3/4" x 4" and the Basic Black piece measures 3" x 4-1/4".  Before I taped the Highland Heather layer to the Basic Black layer, I punched out the ovals from it. I had to punch both but it's okay, I had to make sure I punched away from the edges so I could still use the piece. The ovals that are left over can be used for a future card or stashed away and forever forgotten (like many of the extra pieces that get cut or punched!!! LOL).

The flower is from the "Art Gallery" set. I inked up the larger flower image using Highland Heather and I stamped off once. It was too dark to use at full strength! Then I stamped the detailed image using Highland Heather at full strength. The stem and leaves were stamped using Old Olive ink. Once the stamping was done the Basic White piece was taped to the Highland Heather layer and they were set in place on top of the card using Dimensionals.

The words are from the same set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of scrap Highland Heather that was left from making the layer behind the Basic White piece. I punched it out using the "Double Oval" punch. Then the word piece was taped to the front of the card.

My ribbon is retired but it's Highland Heather in color so I used it.   I tied a bow and set it in place using two small glue dots. One larger one would work but I have a bunch of small ones left over from my Paper Pumpkin kits, so I thought I would use them up.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was added to the inside and the card was finished.

This was a fun card to make. It was easy enough and I can see myself making more in the near future. I have some DSP to use up and this is a nice way to use it.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to pop in and have a look at what I made today,
Wanda
