Halloween Card, September 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit

I wanted to find a Halloween card that used the cat from the September 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit.  I don't know if I had made one with a cat or not but I know I have a lot of cats left in my kit. I don't recall seeing a cat card when I scrolled back through my posts. Anyway, I found one I thought was cute so I went with it. You can see the original card here.  I made a few minor changes

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Balmy Blue card stock. I stamped the pumpkin from the kit using Balmy Blue ink. I only stamped around the edges. I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White to the inside.

I cut a piece of Balmy Blue card stock 4-5/8" x 3-1/4" and I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock to measure 4-3/4" x 3-3/8" for the layer.

I took the Balmy Blue piece and my sponge brayer and sponged on some Balmy Blue ink, then Pacific Point in, and then I added some Night of Navy ink. I kept the left center light and I made the right side darker. When I was done sponging on the color, I spritzed the piece with some Wink of Stella in a spray bottle with a little bit of rubbing alcohol. I heat set it so it the card stock wouldn't warp, plus I wanted it to dry faster.  The card stock ended up a bit textured from the wetness of the alcohol, but that was okay, I used it to my advantage. I took my Wink of Stella pen and held it by the very end and moved it back and forth over the card stock. The raised parts took on the sparkle from the pen.  I set it aside to dry while I got out the die cut parts I needed from the kit.

I also stamped the words from the kit using black Memento ink on Balmy Blue card stock. I die cut them using the second smallest stitched circle die.

I taped the sponged Balmy Blue piece to the Basic Black layer. Then I taped those two to the front of the card.

The cat was taped in place first, then the rusty colored flower was added on the bottom over the cat's paw. Then the single pumpkin and then the brown leaf. The yellow leave was added on top of the brown leaf and then the single pumpkin.

The face was stamped on the double pumpkin using the stamp from the kit.  Black Memento ink was used here.

I slipped the long green leaf under the brown leaf. Then I moved over to the left and added the green leaf and the double pumpkin. I added the orange flower on the left and the yellow leaf on the right side of the little pumpkin attached to the large one. I had added that green leaf in the middle because I didn't get all the way across the bottom without an opened area.  It may have worked if I would have cut the Balmy Blue piece 1/4" smaller.  There were no measurements or instructions to work with so I had to guess.

Tape was added to the round word piece and slipped under the upper part of the double pumpkins.

I had added some rhinestones to the card. Two black for the flower centers that I colored with a black Sharpie.  And one green that I colored with my Old Olive Blends pen.

I thought this was such a cute card and I love the reference to the blue moon.  There is a blue moon this Halloween. The next time there will be a full moon on Halloween is in 2039.  A long time away!!! If your skies are clear on Halloween, be sure to step outside and take a look.  It's not going to look blue. Look up what the blue moon means.  Fun to learn!!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by today,                                                                           Wanda
