Over the Moon, Wonderful Moments, Heirloom Frames, Birthday Card

I found this fun card on Pinterest. I did make a few little changes to it.  I was looking for a fun card that used the "Over the Moon" set.  A set I wasn't sure why I bought. Last year I bought the pig set and was not sure why.  But I now own it and I have to use it.  I thought this card was SO cute. I love the frame that it's in too.  I was also looking for a card that used the "Heirloom Frames" embossing folders.  I was wondering why I bought those too.  I need to find some more samples so I can feel better about my purchase.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  This card is folded on the left and opens on the right.

I cut a 3" x 4-1/4" strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" Neutrals paper stack.  The DSP is Night of Navy.  I taped it on top of the card base.

Next I embossed the frame piece using the "Heirloom Frames" embossing folder.  There's also an oval folder in that set.  I will try to figure out something to put in it and give it a try sometime soon.  After embossing the Whisper White frame piece, I cut it out on the paper cutter.  Not an easy thing to do.  I needed to be careful to not only cut it straight but to not crush the embossing.  I thought about cutting the card stock first but then I thought it might not be big enough once it's pushed into the hills and valleys of the texturing.

Next I stamped the cow image from the "Over the Moon" set.  I did set this up in the Stamparatus. I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to crush the piece and I wanted to get it straight because I didn't want to have to emboss and trim another.

I colored the cow's boots and flower using the light Night of Navy Blends Pen.  I colored the center of the flower with the dark Daffodil Delight Blends Pen.  The leaves were colored using both light and dark Mint Macaron Blends Pens. I colored the spots on the cow using the Basic Black Blends Pen and I added dark Petal Pink Blends Pen to the ears and nostrils.  And that was it for the coloring.  I set the framed piece in place on top of the DSP using Dimensionals.

I stamped the words from the "Wonderful Moments" set using Night of Navy ink.  Then I punched out two flowers from the "Medium Flower" punch.  I taped them together and taped them to the corner of the framed piece. I punched out a 3/8" circle from a scrap of Crushed Curry card stock and taped it to the center of the flower and the card was done.

I think it's a cute card and I was glad I got to try out the "Over the Moon" set.  I am hoping to make some more cards using it.  And I should use the pig set a bit more too, it will probably be retiring soon.  It seems that stamp sets only last a couple of years in the catalog.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
