Bands Together, Beauty Abounds, Birthday Card, 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I wanted to play with the "Beauty Abounds" set and I didn't have any ideas of my own so I went online to see what I could find.  I did find a card but I didn't have the Blueberry Bushel inks, markers or card stock.  I didn't buy the new in colors (again).  I just can't invest in them, it's too expensive.  But because I liked the card I decided to see if I could make it work with some colors I liked to use.  You can see the original card here.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Balmy Blue.  On top of the Balmy Blue is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic Black and on top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White that was textured using the "Eyelet Lace" embossing folder.  I taped all of those layers together.

I stamped the flower and three sets of the leaves on Whisper White card stock using Versa Mark. I sprinkled black embossing powder on them and heat set them.

I colored the flower using both light and dark Balmy Blue Blends pens.  You do need to be careful NOT to color over the embossing.  The Blends pick it up and then add it to your coloring area.  I had a dark mess on my first flower.  The center of the flower is colored with the dark Daffodil Delight and the very center of the flower was colored using the light Pumpkin Pie Blends pen. I fussy cut the flower out.

I colored the leaves using both the light and dark Granny Apple Green Blends pens.  I die cut them out. Too bad the flower didn't have a die cut.  You know how much I love fussy cutting!!! LOL  But I survived it.

I cut the lacy word piece using Basic Black card stock.  I stamped the words from the same "Bands Together" set using black Memento ink.  I die cut them out using that same lacy die cut.

I taped the Basic Black lacy piece to the card front with the bottom of the side "strap" piece being 2" from the edge of the Whisper White layer.  Then I taped the word piece to the inside of the lacy piece.

I added the flower using Dimensionals.  I taped and tucked a leaf in behind the flower and I taped a couple of leaves to the upper right part of the lacy piece.

On the original card there were colored pearls.  I was going to take my Blends pens and color some pearls but the card was going to be going through the mail and I didn't want to pay the extra postage.  So I left it as it is.  I may add some sequins, those lay pretty flat.  They are not as high as the flower with the Dimensionals and they are not hard like a pearl would be.  I will probably glue them in place to make sure they stay.

And that was it.  It's a pretty simple card to make. I LOVE coloring and after I figured out where the black/dark gray was coming from, it went super well.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
