Peaceful Moments, Stitched Lace, Thank You Card, 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I have a charm swap to go to tonight and it's the perfect opportunity for me to give a friend a gift I had made for her and this card I made this morning. Before the virus hit I was in a bead group that met once a month. In March we were going to exchange charms we had made. The charms were to be made to represent ourselves. Mine are snowmen made with white round beads. A snowflake was added and a garnet. I LOVE snowmen and making snowballs and my birth month is January and garnet is the stone. Nailed it! But we didn't get to do our swap so I suggested last month that we meet in the parking lot at the place we would go bead at and place our charms in the trunk and everyone can pick one and leave theirs. It seemed the safest way to do this considering the times.  I'm looking forward to seeing my friends eyes!  Masks will be required.  It will be fun just to get out and be around friends.

One of the friends had decided she was not going to be doing metals anymore and sold me her metal supplies. I have been using them and wanting to make her something. I am still planning on making her a pair of earrings, but I did get a beautiful sterling silver and amethyst bracelet done for her. She loves purple. Oh and I bet her charm will have amethyst in it!!!  So I thought I would also make her a card. This is what I found on the internet, click here to see the original card. I changed it up a bit but it's pretty close.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Purple Posy. I didn't have any matching ink so I used Highland Heather. Though I think Purple Posy ink would have been too light anyway.

I used the "Stitched Lace" die for the background. I die cut it using Whisper White card stock. I have only used this die a few times because I hated fussy cutting the bottom edges.  When I was taking the die out of the package today I noticed a die cut strip. It was for cutting that bottom ledge. Well, that just opened a new door for me. I now like this die again and I need to use it because I'm pretty sure it will be retiring come spring. There is one thing I still don't like about it and that's getting all of those little pieces out of the die cut holes. And I have to remember to use the double sided sticky sheets because gluing this isn't fun either. Hmm, maybe it's still not all that fun!! LOL No, it's fun and I'm glad I actually looked at what was in the die cut package. I've only had this thing for over a year.

I die cut the Purple Posy piece using the "Stitched So Sweetly" dies. It was taped to the front of the card on top of the lace piece.

The words are from the "Peaceful Moments" set and were stamped using Highland Heather ink. I snipped the right end to give it a ribbon look. I didn't have any Purple Posy ribbons to add to the front like the original card did and with the word piece being wider, I thought I'd just see if I could get by without anything there. I think it worked! That word piece measured 3-1/8" x 3/4".

I punched out three flowers from the "Medium Daisy" punch and I glued them together at the centers.

The leaves were die cut from the "Poppy Moments" die set. I used Granny Apple Green card stock. I made a little mark on the Purple Posy die cut piece so I knew where the flower would go and I taped the leaves from that center outward. Once the leaves were on I added the flower using a Dimensional. Then I added a Faceted Gem (retired) to the center of the flower. I still have a dozen or so of those left and I plan to use them up!  Rhinestones colored with Blends pens or Sharpie markers will work and so will a punched circle of card stock, colored or color it yourself. There's lots of options for the flower center.

I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside and the card was done.

It's now ready to proudly give to my friend. I think she will love the colors and the simplicity of the card too.  Plus it's from me!! LOL

Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by today,                                                                            Wanda
