Beautiful You, Birthday Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

I found this fun card on Pinterest and I just had to make it. You know how that goes!!!  You can see that card here.  I tried to get to the original post through the link.  It did take me there but you have to sign up to view the site and I just didn't want to sign up for another web site.

My plan was to make two cards.  I wasn't fond of the idea of fussy cutting out the dress and hat, let alone twice.  But there was something good on TV, so I figured "why not?"!

I used the "Sending Love" 6" x 6" decorative paper from the 2017 Occasions catalog.  It was with the other Valentine's Day stuff.  That was another reason why I wanted to make this card.  I had hardly touched that pack of paper.

It was a pretty easy card to make.  First I cut and folded the half sheets of Whisper White cardstock for the base of each card.  Then I cut the decorative paper.  I only used one sheet (see why it's difficult to use up a pack of them? LOL).  I cut the left panels 5-1/8" x 2".  The piece that was left was big enough to stamp the image on twice. After stamping them, I set them aside to dry and cut the panel pieces.  The Whisper White was cut 2-1/4" x 3-1/2".  The Basic Black piece behind it was cut 2-1/2" x 3-3/4".

Next I fussy cut the dress and hat.  I glued them in place. It was much easier than taping.

The top image has the words stamped in an oval and layered in a Real Red oval.  I had to do that because when I stamped the words, the edge of the stamp caught the ink pad and I pressed too hard on my cardstock and got a nasty ugly looking line under my wording.  So I thought I would cover it up with the ovals.  It worked!!! YAY!!  Now had I not told you that, you would have just thought I was trying out some fun layering for the words!!!  Oh, wait.  Yup, that's what I was doing!!! LOL

The focal piece was taped together and Dimensionals were added to the back to set it in place.

It was a fun card to make but I don't think I would like to make a bunch of them at one time.  I'm not a big fan of fussy cutting anymore!!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

Cute card. YUP I have done that myself. Nothing wrong with a little oval frame.
