Happy Easter to my Favorite Peeps! Baby Chicks Cupcakes

I wish you all a very Happy Easter.  Yesterday I baked and decorated cupcakes.  I found these on Pinterest and I pinned them thinking I would make them some time. Well, that some time came around sooner than I thought.  I had a list a mile long of things I needed to do yesterday but I didn't get to half of it because these little guys took a lot of time.  I suppose if I would have made them regular size instead of mini they wouldn't have taken as long.  But it's ok, they're just too darn cute and I'm glad I made them. They were easy to make too.

I didn't have any pipping bags so I just put my frosting (for the wings, feet and beak) in a zipper bag and clipped the tip.  Easy peasy!  And no clean up,  just toss the bag when I'm done!   I LOVE that.

Spring Sampler Mother's Day Card

Here is a very versatile card.  This can be made into a birthday card, get well card, thank you card, and a thinking of you card.  It's a fun layout to play with and the top part allows you to use those smaller images or you can use something larger because the top part has plenty of space.

The image here came from the "Spring Sampler" set.  I LOVE those types of sets.  There's a lot of images to play with and they can be used for a number of occasions.

The decorative paper used here came from the "Print Poetry" pack.  I'm on a mission to use the pack up by the end of May.  We all know it won't happen but I'm sure going to give it a try!  And it's hard to use it up when you only use 2" of a piece for a card like this!!! LOL

The words came from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I probably should have moved them down a bit but what I ended up doing (after I saw the big gap under the words) was I moved the ribbon up.  I had not affixed it to the card.  Now it's in place and it's not going anywhere!  

This was actually a very quick and simple card to make.  I LOVE this layout and I think I'll use it again sometime.  But not when I'm on a mission to use up some decorative papers!!! LOL

Thoughts & Prayers Mother's Day Card

A second attempt at finding a nice Mother's Day card that I like.  Now I do like this one but it's not going to stop me from making more.  This one is pretty but I think I can do better!  This one was very easy too.

I used the "Vintage Wallpaper" embossing folder.  I used the brayer and inked up the front flap on the inside.  Then I put my card stock inside and rolled it through the Big Shot like you would normally do.  I did use a quarter sheet of card stock and I cut it down 1/8" around when I was done.  

Next I took a piece of Whisper White card stock cut 3-7/8" x 2-7/8" and colored the image from "Thoughts & Prayers" and stamped it on the card stock.  

The words came from the "Delightful Dozen set".  I had stamped them directly on the card stock but I got it crooked and I mean CROOKED!!!  So I stamped it on a piece of scrap card stock and punched it out.  Then I sponged the edges before I set it on top of the crooked words using Dimensionals.  You can kind of see the words under it if you are looking for them but it's not noticeable.  I had to really look for them.  SO they are covered well and the card is now pretty.  And I think that mistake was meant to be because I do like the words raised on on the card.

And that is it.  Very simple and fairly quick too!  Now to go wash off the folder and brayer and dry them!  I don't like cleaning up after stamping!!! LOL

Spring Sampler Mother's Day Card

Ok, now I'm on a quest to make a Mother's Day card I REALLY like.  This one was fun and easy to make but it's not doing much for me.  So this card will go into the box for the spring garage sale.  It's such a huge sale and I put some cards in it last year and almost all of them sold.  It was nice, I was then able to buy more card stock to make more cards!!! Such a vicious cycle!!! LOL

I did get to play with some more of the "Print Poetry" paper stack.  There's a lot of sheets in that little stack and I'm on a mission to try to use them all before the end of May!! Wish me luck on that one!!!

The words on the card came from the "Delightful Dozen" set.  I'll probably be using these words a lot in my upcoming Mother's Day cards because there isn't a lot of choices currently available for it.  But I do have some retired ones I may drag in now and then!  

The colors used here are Whisper White, Bubblegum Green and Raspberry Ripple.  They are fun colors but this card needs some work.  Actually, what happened here was I had cut the decorative paper and I put the tape on the wrong side. The other side of this card has a pretty flower print.  I was going to take the left over piece and use it instead but it was cut the wrong direction so I just ran with this. Maybe tomorrow or this coming weekend (if I have some down time) I will work it up the way I had originally intended and see if I like it any better!!!

Just Believe Emboss Resist Technique

The "Just Believe" set has to be one of my favorites.  I especially LOVE this image from the set.  It's so versatile.  It can be used for almost any occasion.  It can take on a festive look down to a somber look.  

To do the emboss resist you must first stamp the image using VersaMark or embossing "ink".  Then you sprinkle clear embossing powder on the paper and tap the excess off.  Then you  sponge over the embossed area.  Here an oval frame was made and set on top of the image and them the color was sponged on.  Once you are done with that you do need to wipe off the embossed image.  Ink tends to sit on there and could get on your fingers and smear or smudge your card.  

Once you are done with that you can embellish your image as much or as little as you wish.  Here the card was embellished with two sizes of half pearls.  

This card was made at Terri's Technique Tuesday class.  This is a very fun and effective technique.    And it was an extremely fun class.  It was a large group of gals and it was great to see them this month!

A Mixed Bunch Thank You

Today I needed a thank you card and I was thinking spring at the same time.  I love purples and since Stampin' Up!'s purples are very limited I went with the Wisteria Wonder.  

I stamped the background first and then cut my card stock 1/4" less than the quarter sheet is.  

Next I found the word set I wanted to use.  These words came from the "Curly Cute" set.  After I stamped the words I cut the strip of white to fit the area I wanted it to go in.  And then I added a strip behind it, which was cut 1/4" larger.

Then I stamped the flower and punched it out.  I also punched out a 1-1/4" circle of Wisteria Wonder and I affixed a flower on top of that.  I had stamped one more of the background flowers and punched it out with a 1" circle punch.  The flower was set in place using Dimensionals and it was done.  

This is a very quick and easy card to make.  I do love playing with the Mixed Bunch set.  Mostly because the large flowers have a punch to go with them so you don't have to cut them out by hand!!!

A Papillon Potpourri Borthday

I ran a cross the butterfly in my stash of "little stuff".  I thought I would work it into the card I had started but wasn't sure where I was going with.  I had the Whisper White and Bashful textured but I had no idea what I was going to do with it.  I had just used the lacy die cut and added that strip and then I was totally stuck.

I found the butterfly in my little stash and set it on the white.  I liked it but the lacy white edge looked funny.  So I walked away for a little while.  When I came back I thought I would work with the words.  The words were done on my computer and printed out on Whisper White card stock.  I used a piece of Pumpkin Pie for the circle behind the words.  And then it dawned on me that a strip of the Pumpkin Pie might be what that top piece needs.  It did need it but I still felt it needed something more or something different.  But it is what it is.  I have to walk away from it.  I drew a blank on this one!!  

So now I'm off to work on a new bracelet.  Well, it's not so new. I started it a month ago and have not had any time to work on it.  I think I need to write up the directions so I don't forget how to do it, just in case I don't get back to it for a year or more!!!  That has happened.  And what is so frustrating about that is, I forget how I made it and then it's all lost!  One day this week I will take a photo of the bracelet and post it here for you all to see.

Moving Forward

I always purchase the  Ronald McDonald set and sometimes I use all the images in the set and sometimes I don't.  I REALLY do like all of the images in this set and today I thought I would take out my set and finally play with it.  Though if I don't get to all the images or if I don't use the set at all at least I know that the money spent on it goes to a good cause.  

I used the cute little bike from this set.  Which by the way, the words on the card are attached to the image. I just masked them off and added them later.  I'm not sure if they were far enough from the edge of the tires to just punch them out but I didn't want to ruin the circle part of the card.  

I used Basic Black for the base of my card and for the layers.  The colored decorative paper came from the "Print Poetry" paper stack.   And yes, it even comes with the little flower image that you add on after.  I used markers to color in the flowers and stems and then stamped them in the basket.  It just added a nice touch of color to the card.

The card looks crooked but it really isn't (for once!!!), it's just the angle that the picture was taken at and the card is somewhat open so it distorts the image a bit.  

This is a very fun and easy card to make!

Morning Cup

Here's a set I just HAD to have and hardly play with.  And I don't know why.  I REALLY do like the "Morning Cup" set.

Connie over at Inkspired Impressions had a card with a cute coffee cup on it and I reminded me that I had a coffee cup set.  It's the "Morning Cup" set so i went over to my shelf and got it out.  I really liked the layout that Connie used so I kind of stuck with it.  I did make my background decorative piece a bit smaller and I did make the larger background piece textured,  I changed the wording and the location of the wording as well.  I just felt that top part was too empty for me.  Had I made the decorative paper larger like Connie did there wouldn't have been so much space up there.  See what happens when you don't follow things exactly as they were?  LOL

I do like this card. I like the colors and I REALLY like the layout.  And I got to play with my "Morning Cup" set!!

Papillon Butterfly Sympathy Card

Last night I had some very fun stamping gals over. It was such a fun time.  It's great to see them all and also to see what they create!  This is Tracy's creation!  It's such a pretty card.  

Tracy used the Papillon Butterfly stamp and the punch that goes with it.  I LOVE that punch.  It sure saves a LOT of time!!! You just punch instead of cut!  Though if you don't have the punch you can always cut it out by hand.  

The words came from the "Petite Pairs" set.  A set I have used often.  

This is a very easy card to make.  Your base is a half sheet of card stock that is folded in half.  The black layer is 5-1/4" x 4" and the embossed layer is 5-1/8" x 3-7/8".  

I'm not sure what size the circle and scallop punches are but just find one that the butterfly fits in and go from there.

Everybunny Easter Card

Ok, last "Everybunny" card before I put the stamp set away!  I was just having some fun with the Sunshine & Sprinkles paper and this set.  They just seem to go together so well.  

My eye is really not liking this card as I'm seeing it here on the computer.  In person I didn't see it like I do on here.  I used Lucky Limeade ribbon across the bottom part of the card.  I should have used Lucky Limeade card stock and it may have blended better. My eyes keep going directly to that green ribbon! Now why didn't it do that when I was working on it?  It's still an ok card, just not as good as it could have been had I used the Lucky Limeade for the base of the card and for the scallop and layer.  But it is what it is and it will be just fine.  I know some of you say I'm too critical of myself but sometimes things just don't look exactly right and this card is one of those.  Now tell me your eyes don't go directly to that green ribbon?  

Anyway, the card is done and ready to be sent out!  

I have been reworking a beading pattern and I finally got it done.  It takes me a while to do them because I never took any classes on graphic design so I muddle through at a slow pace but I manage to get the job done!  I will post my project tomorrow and there will finally be a pattern available in my web store!

Everybunny Easter Card

I really do like this "Everybunny" stamp set and I've been having  a lot of fun with it.  From the candy header I posted yesterday to the cute Easter card I have to show you today.

The base of my card is Marina Mist.  There were SO many colors to pick from when using that cute paper from the Sunshine & Sprinkles set.  I was leaning towards the Melon Mambo but thought I would lean towards a boy color card.  Though Gumball Green or the Daffodil Delight would have worked for a boy card too.  But I'm partial to the Marina Mist color so that is what I picked.

I used the "Fancy Fan" folder on a piece of Whisper White for the background.  The next layer is the "Sunshine & Sprinkles" paper and then the image from the "Everybunny" set.

The words were done on the computer, printed out and punched with a 1-1/4" circle punch.  They were layered on an Old Olive circle and the scalloped piece was punched from a piece of Marina Mist.  A great way to use up some scraps!!!  I set the scalloped layer on the card using Dimensionals.  The card needed a bit of a punch and that was the ticket.  But yet it's not too much that it can't be mailed without adding extra postage!!! You gotta think of that when making cards you're going to mail!!!

Everybunny Candy Header Easter Candy Project

Here's a fun project for you that the kids will like to help with.  If they don't eat all the Peeps that is!!!  I'm not a big Peeps fan so I don't have a problem with these cute little guys! And when did Peeps get so expensive?  I thought they  use to be a cheaper Easter candy!  Anyway, I bought a pack of them to play with!!!

I bagged up the Peeps and then checked my stamps to see what I had for Easter.  I found the "Everybunny" set and ran with it!!!  I know there's a bunny in the bag and there were bunny stamps but I REALLY liked this little chick.  I suppose I could have bought chick Peeps but I didn't.  I thought the bunnies were a lot cuter and they are flatter too, which makes them so much easier to put in bags and to actually see them in the bag.  

My bags measured 3" x 4".  I got my food acceptable bags at our local cake decorating shop.  I cut my card stock just a hair over the 3" mark wide and 5" long.  I folded it in half on the long side.  I found some fun decorative paper that I thought would be nice for Easter.  My decorative paper came from the "Sunshine & Sprinkles" pack.  Another pack of paper I won't be using up any time soon.  I am learning to scale back on my paper purchasing because I'm just not using it all before it retires.  I'm sure that is so true of many of you to.  Anyway, I cut the decorative paper to fit the front of the header and yet leave an 1/8" border around it.  Before I taped the decorative paper in place I did staple the white header piece on.  I made sure the bump parts of the staple were in the front and the smooth part was on the back.  It makes the header look so much more clean and neat.  I did take a hammer and flattened down the bumps so the decorative paper would lay nicely.

Next I stamped the chick image, colored it and then punched them out.  I punched out some Old Olive scalloped circles to layer the chick on.  I taped the layers together and then taped them to the front of the header.

I have a stash of punched out "things" and I found a bunch of Modern Label punched pieces so I pulled them out and found I had exactly enough for my little project here!  Then I went on my computer and typed out "To one of my favorite Peeps".  I had to have it print at font size 10.  Any bigger and I wouldn't have been able to get it all in the Word Window punch.  I punched them out, affixed them to the Modern Label piece and then I used the Sticky Strip tape to affix it to the front of the bag.  And that was it.  They are now ready to give out to my favorite Peeps!!

By the Tide

I got this set and I thought I should stamp something with it before it retires.  It's really not that easy of a set to work with. I do like the fish in the set.  The shell and seahorse are ok too but the lobster/crab thing doesn't do much for me.  I failed miserably in an attempt to make a card using this set.  And of course using the "Print Poetry" designer paper.  For such a little stack of paper (48 sheets) I sure am having a hard time using it up!  

I originally bought this set for the seaweed looking image.  I thought it would be fun to use parts of it when making polymer clay leaves.  It would make very pretty and realistic looking veins in the leaves.  But I wanted to stamp with it first before I get it all full of clay oils.  

I did have fun making the layers and cutting out the fish but that seaweed thing is not working well with this card.  I may be doing a remake on this one!

Thanks for bearing with me here!!!  I do try to keep the ugly posts down to a minimum!!!  I hope I'm not exceeding that already!!! LOL
