Wildflower Path, Peaceful Moments, Forever Fern, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello! I'm so happy you found your way here today! I have a fun card that I found on Pinterest that I wanted to make and share with you. You can see the original card here. I did have to change it a bit because of supplies.

The base of the card is folded half-sheet of Daffodil Delight card stock. It was cut in half on the short 8-1/2" side and after cutting it in half it measured 4-1/4" x 11". This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

Since I knew I was making a sympathy card, I stamped the words from the "Peaceful Moments" set using black Memento ink on Basic White card stock.  Then I die cut them using the 1-5/8" circle die from the "Layering Circles" die set.

Next a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock was cut and I die cut the scalloped Pear Pizzazz layer from the center of this piece. I taped the word piece to it. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

The Basic White layer was cut at 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" and was textured using the "Painted Texture" embossing folder. I glued this to the Pear Pizzazz layer and then I taped those two layers to the card base.

I cut a 3-7/8" x 2-5/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the focal layer. I stamped the flowers from the "Wildflower Path" using Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry ink. I stamped the longer stem first. I stamped once and then moved the stamp to the left and stamped again. I moved that stamp to the right and down a bit and repeated that. I also stamped once and added another shorter one on the right near the bottom. Then I took the shorter stem and stamped them towards the middle of the card, only stamping once and inking it up to stamp again.

Then the flowers were added. I did read in the link that she recommended stamping the darker part of the flower first. I did give that a try but found it difficult to know where to stamp it since the main part of the flower sits on the tip of the stems. So I had to guess at where they would go and it worked but I think I'll just go back to the other way of doing it, I didn't have any trouble seeing where the darker stamp would go over the lighter. I also used the smaller flower image to add both Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry flowers around the piece.

Next I cut a 4" x 2-3/4" piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock for the layer behind the focal piece. I taped the two together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the center of the card.

I took a 3/4" x 3" piece of Crushed Curry card stock and snipped the ends to look like a ribbon. Then I taped it to the front of the card about 1/4" from the edge of the Basic White focal piece. I got the tips of the piece close to the right side but not even, I didn't want it to catch on anything.

I liked how the leaves in the original card were cut using Designer Series Paper (DSP) so I got out my "Forever Fern" dies and cut the largest leafy image using a piece of Pear Pizzazz DSP from the "Subtles" 6" x 6" stack. I snipped off some "branches" and set them on the front of the card where I thought they would look their best. Then I affixed the word piece over the branches and that was it for the front.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was added to the inside of the card and the card was done.

There was a number of steps to this card but it really didn't take all that long to make. I'm glad I gave it a try, I thought it was fun and it turned out nice.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's sympathy card,
Wanda
