Adorable Owls, Framed Florets, Art Gallery, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Good day! I am so happy you found your way to my blog today. I found this card on Pinterest and it was the colors that pulled me in and I just knew I had to give it a try. You can see the original card here

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/8"x 5-3/8" piece of Balmy Blue card stock and taped it to the card base.

Next I cut a piece of Basic White card stock at 4-3/8" x 3-1/8" and another piece at 4-1/4" x 3". The second piece I textured using a retired wood background embossing folder. I didn't have a current one so I just used what I had. I taped the two Basic White pieces together.

Then I cut a Balmy Blue piece at 3-3/4" x 2-5/8" and a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Dandy Designs" 12" x 12" package to tape on top of it that measured 3-1/4" x 2-1/2".

I took a scrap piece of Basic White card stock and stamped the owl from the "Adorable Owls" set using black Memento ink. Make sure your piece is large enough to die cut the oval from the "Framed Florets" die set. I miss having an oval die set but this will do.

The scalloped edge is from a die from the "Framed Florets" bundle. I die cut it from a scrap piece of Balmy Blue card stock.

With the Basic White pieces taped together, I taped them to the front of the card, centering it by eyeing it.

Then I took the Balmy Blue layers piece and taped a piece of ribbon around it and use scotch tape to hold the ends on the back. I tied a bow and set it aside. I glued the lacy strip to the bottom of the piece.

The owl was colored in using Blends pens. I used both light and dark Balmy Blue. Light Pumpkin Pie, light Soft Suede and Light Crumb Cake.  I added Dimensionals to the back.

With the glue pretty much set on the lacy piece, I added Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place on the front of the card. I lined up the right, left and top of the piece onto the textured piece.

Then the owl oval was added and the bow was glued on.

I thought the card should have some words so I stamped the words from the "Art Gallery" set using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I was too lazy to cut the words so I used a retired punch. I added Dimensionals to the back and set the words in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card. It had a lot of pieces to it but it went together pretty fast.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
