Happiness Abounds, Hues of Happiness, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Tonight I will set the "Happiness Abounds" set aside and play with something else.  I do love playing with this set though, mostly because of the printed flowers in the "Hues of Happiness" Designer Series Paper (DSP) package. The matching dies make it easy to cut out the pretty flowers and whip up a card in no time. Here's how I made today's card:

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Early Espresso card stock. This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I chose Early Espresso because of the center of the larger flower.

Next I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of DSP from the 6" x 6" "Subtles" stack. I taped that to the front of the card base.

Now here's where I had to redo a step. I had taken a 4" x 5-1/8"piece of Basic White card stock and I textured it using the "Pretty Flowers" embossing folder.  Then I took the scalloped die from the "Basic Borders" die set.  Once I used the border die I had squished all the texture and I realized I had done it backwards!  So I die cut the scalloped piece first. I set it just above the bottom edge of the 5-18/4" side of the Basic White piece.  Then I texture it and then I cut it to the size I wanted it. After cutting the piece measured 5-1/8" x 3-1/4". I had cut 1" off the top portion. Before I glued this to the front of the card, I tied a piece of linen thread around it and made a bow. You can see it on the left of the big flower. You can see it more clearly if you click on the phot.

Once the bow was tied and the piece was glued in place, I die cut my flowers and leaves. I set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals for the flowers and glue for the leaves.

The words are from the "Happiness Abounds" set and were stamped using Early Espresso ink. I cut them to measure 5/8" x 3".  I added Dimensionals to the right side and the center and a dot of glue to the left side.  I just noticed my words were a bit lower on the right side and I fixed that on the original card but I didn't retake the photo.

For the final touch I added three pearls, and then a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock to the inside and the card was done.

This was a very fun and easy card to make. I like the colors and I love the layout.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
