Very Best Occasions, Awash in Beauty, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

I saw this card in an email I had received so I clicked on the link to get some details. You can see the original card here. I had to make do with what I had and this is how my card turned out. I like it just the same.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I took a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and the mask from the "Artistic Mix" decorative masks package and my blending brush and scrubbed on some Balmy Blue ink.  I didn't have the die that was used on the card. I looked it up and thought I might order it, it's called "Split Textures" dies, there's two of them. But upon looking them up I saw that they are not available.  SO I thought about waiting until they did come available but then I'd probably forget what I wanted to do with them. I decided to just use a mask for the background and one of them looked a lot like the die so I went with it. At first I did it on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock because that was what I needed but once I removed the mask the border was larger on the left than on the top. But it was okay that I had redo it because I colored over the area too many times and the Balmy Blue was really dark.  I cut the card stock at 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and then I colored over the mask. I was much happier with how it turned out. I trimmed the long side first so the piece measured 4"and then a little off the top to match the border left on the long side. Then I trimmed the other side so the piece measured 5-1/4".

The flower cluster is from the "Awash in Beauty" Designer Series Paper (DSP) 12" x 12" package and was fussy cut.  It was a lot of cutting but it's SO worth it. I set the piece on top of the card to see where I was going to add the words.

The words are from the "Very Best Occasions" set and were stamped using black Memento ink.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the flower and it was set in place on the front of the card.  And that was it, the card was done.

Isn't it pretty?  Even with the stenciling mask. Making do with what I had and the best part is, it worked!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

I just got my order with that beautiful paper a few days ago. Your card is lovely! I really like those dies. I don't have the SU ones but I do have some from Memory Box.
