Happiness Abounds, Hues of Happiness, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Today's card was a very fun one to make. I was drawn to this card because of that tiny little strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I just loved the look of it. I found this card on Pinterest and you can see the original card here

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut the sheet of cards stock on the 8-1/2" side so after cutting it measured 4-1/4" x 11". I used Basic White to save on my Pool Party card stock. The white doesn't cost as much as the colored and with prices on everything on the planet going up I am trying to save where I can. It still looks pretty this way!

I cut my Pool Party piece of card stock at 5-3/8" x 4-1/8". I taped it on the front of the card.

Then I cut a 5" x 3-7/8" piece of Basic White. On top of that Basic White piece is a piece of DSP from the "Hues of Happiness" 12" x 12" package.  It's another one of those cards where I used some busy DSP. I cut the DSP at 2-1/8" x 3-1/4".  I marked the sides at 1-7/8" on the right and 3" on the right. I cut them from mark to mark. Then I cut the tiny strip about 1/4" wide, maybe just a hair bigger. I taped both pieces of DSP to the Basic White piece.

Next I fussy cut the flower from another piece of DSP from the same package. I added Dimensionals behind it but I didn't affix the piece to the front of the card. I set it on the card for placement of the words.

The words are from the "Happiness Abounds" set and stamped them using Melon Mambo ink. Once the words were stamped I set the flower in place.  I had some enamel dots and set them in place on the card and the card was done.

This was a very fun card. I SO love that little strip. This card went together quickly and was easy to make.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop by and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

I totally agree with you about the rising costs! I think it was brilliant of you to use white CS and also how you cut a narrow angled strip from the DSP! Clever...nice "split" for a change. Have a wonderful 4th of July!
