To Swap or Not to Swap

I'm considering joining in our stamping groups swap. The theme is something from the new mini catalog. Well, I did meet the requirements. It's ALL Stampin' Up! products, at least one layer and it's from the mini catalog. But I'm not really liking the card. It is important that I like the card for several reasons and one of them being I will need to make more than one. It is one thing to make a single card you don't really like but to reproduce it, well...... Maybe reproducing it the card will get better!!! I can't even pin point why I'm not liking it. I do think it has a bit of a blah look to it. I will have to play around with it a bit more and see what I get.

I am liking the glossy card stock. I like the effects you can get with it using VersaMark and clear embossing powder. And I do like sponging in the colors on top of it. You can create some nice effect doing that.

I think I'll set this aside for a day or two and go back to it. Sometimes it's just best to walk away for a while (or forever!!!LOL).

If you have any questions for me please be sure to email them to me. I can not respond to you from the comment section. It's not set up by Blogger to allow me to do that. I get a lot of quesitons I can't answer from there. Maybe this week I'll add a question post and you can ask me your questions there and I can reply as best as I can!!! Sounds like a possibility!!!

And DON'T forget the Blog Candy! The link is highlighted. Please leave your "bid" to that post only. There's been some pretty interesting bids!!! LOL From belly button lint to stuff under the beds!!! Boy it sure is tempting!!! You all just crack me up!!! Thanks for making me laugh!

Thank you for stopping by,
Wanda

Hmmmm....I do like the colors and what you did with the background....how about adding some brads and maybe photo corners with the new punch?

I like how it looks, I think it would make a great swap card.

Ok, I LIKE the card, but here is my suggestion....what if you switched out the snow background for the tree background and then made the base of the card a solid color, not shiny treat cardstock?
Just my thought.

I agree with your own judgment, that there are things to like about this card for sure, but that it's just not....hmmm...

My reaction is that my eye is confused by the two separate focal points, the snowman and the greeting, and jumps back and forth across that empty space between them. Maybe if they were closer, or maybe some additional visual element is needed to tie them together? I can understand you would want to be happy with it before making lots of them! --Liz

LOL, I'm glad you enjoyed my bid of under the bed goodies! I think walking away from the card is a great idea. I personally like the card. My only thought is you might like accent colors from the snowman elsewhere on the card. Perhaps stamp the words in one of those colors. Or change the colors of his "clothes" and see if you like that better. Or leave it alone! ;)

I liked the card, but the only thing I would try is just moving the ribbon and snowman stamp down closer to center..but even as it is, its very nice and I would be thrilled to receive a card like that..and even more thrilled if I could come up with a design that nice..I enjoy your blog very much..

I like the card and wouldn't mind it in a swap. I actually am considering CASE-ing it, sort of, for an upcoming class. My changes will be to stamp a greeting, maybe "sparkle" from Warm Words in the lower right and lose the smaller square that's camping on the focal point. Maybe one ribbon length instead of two... I don't know. I do know I love the resist effect of your background. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Debbie J...I like the colors and the background.

If it were me, I would make it a square card (just trim off the bottom), and put the words inside a hardware frame instead of framing them with the blue cardstock.

Would the hardware be too much and overpower the snowman?
