Greetings of the Season, A Season of Green & Gold, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. I found it on the internet. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the inside. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock for the top layer. On top of that is the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Seasons of Green & Gold" 12" x 12" package. I just had to buy that paper but I didn't by the bundle that coordinated with it. I cut my strips from the 12" x 12" sheets at 4" so I don't have much waste if any at all. I took that 4" strip and cut it at 5-1/8" long and trimmed off the top so it measured 3-7/8" wide. Then I cut 1-3/4" off the top. Now you are ready to tape the DSP to the Basic Black piece. The 1-3/4" piece is flipped over and will be at the top of the card. What I did to make it easier for me to line things up was I flipped the pieces over so I was looking at the backs. I taped the seam with scotch tape so it was one piece. Then I used double-sided tape and taped the piece to the Basic Black cardstock. Then that was taped to the card base.

Next I took the mistletoe leaves piece from another sheet in the same package and fussy cut them. If you buy the DSP and the coordinating bundle there's a die in there to cut it out. I didn't mind the fussy cutting. Also in that bundle is the pine needle die. Since I didn't have it I used the flower die form the "Flowers of Beauty" bundle. I just searched my dies to see what would work and look wintry and not scram of summer. This seemed to work the best. I did chop the piece up a bit though. I had die cut mine using Mossy Meadow card stock. I taped it under the mistletoe piece.

The words were done next and they are from the "Greetings of the Season" bundle and were stamped using Real Red ink on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I cut them out using the tag die in the "Greetings of the Season" bundle. Make sure when you cut it that the hole for the hanging tag is on the left, you will be hiding it with the mistletoe stem and the bow. I taped the word piece in place on the front of the card. I centered it as much as I could by eyeing it.

Then the mistletoe piece with the greenery was glued in place. I tried adding tape but it got hung up on the greenery. So I just added some dots of glue and pressed the piece in place. The bow was tied from a 7" piece of Gingham ribbon and it was added with a little bit of glue.

I had some colored rhinestones so I added those to the card and the card was done.

I'm pleased at how the card turned out even though I didn't have the exact same items the original card had. I just used what I had and made it work.

Simply Zinnia, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another thinking of you card to share with you. I found it at the same place as yesterday's card. I was at that blog and I lingered! There's some nice and fun cards there. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. 

A 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Melon Mambo card stock. It was taped to the front of the card. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I taped that to the Melon Mambo piece.

The green leafy image was cut next. It's from the same "Flowering Zinnias" package and measures 3-1/2" x 2-3/4". I taped that to the left side of the card. I eyed it so it was equal on the top, left and bottom.

The flowers are from the same package of DSP and was cut at 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" and the Mossy Meadow card stock was cut at 2-5/8" x 2-5/8". I taped the DSP to the Mossy Meadow piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. It's pretty much centered on the card. 

The words are from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Melon Mambo card stock. I tried to get it as straight as I could on the card stock because I trimmed it after. Sometime I will cut the piece first and then stamp, one way is just as difficult to do as the other. After cutting my piece measures 5/8" x 3-5/8".  I added Dimensionals to the left end and tape to the other end.

I added some sequins I had to the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a very fun and easy card to make. It's a great way to use up some more of "Flowering Zinnias" DSP.

Thoughtful Wishes, Thoughtful Journey, Simply Said, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a "thinking of you" card to share with you today. I found it on the internet and I did make a few small changes. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

A 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Misty Moonlight card stock was cut and then textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued it to the front of the card.

Next I cut the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" stack. I cut my piece at 2-1/8" x 4-1/2". The Fresh Freesia layer behind it was cut at 2-1/4" 4-5/8" and the DSP strip was taped to it.

I die cut the leafy image on the side using another piece of DSP from the same package. The die is from the "Thoughtful Wishes" bundle. I turned the tree strip over and added a line of tape on the back and then turned it over so it was face up and then pressed it down onto the die cut piece. Then the piece was glued to the front of the card. I only used glue on the layered piece.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using Versa Mark on a scrap piece of the DSP that was from the cutting the tree panel.  It's great when you can use scraps, isn't it? I sprinkled white embossing powder on the words and heat set them. Then I cut them out using the dotted rectangle die from the "Everyday Details" set. I set the piece in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. 

I added a couple of "Faceted Gem" on the front and get this, they are currently in the catalog!  I was just as surprised as you! LOL

This was a fun and quick card to make. It looks like it could be used for other occasions like a sympathy card, a get well card and even a masculine birthday card,  I like how it turned out. I had made two at the same time since I was cutting the DSP I just cut the trees from the other side and was able to get two cards from the one sheet. Plus there's a little strip left from the center of the image and I might use that for a future card.

Unbounded Love, Flower of Beauty, Friendship Card, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a pretty card to share with you that I found on the internet. I just love this "Wildly Flowering" Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I have plenty of it left so I thought I'd whip up this card using it. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Moody Mauve. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White and taped it to the inside.

On the outside I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the DSP and taped it in place.

Using Misty Moonlight card stock I cut a 3" x 4-1/4" piece for the layer and on top of that is another piece of DSP from the same package that measured 2-3/4" x 4". I taped that to the Misty Moonlight piece and I taped the two to the center of the card. On the original card this piece opens up and the Moody Mauve piece is just a quarter sheet of card stock. I decided to make it into a regular opening card instead.

Next I stamped the words from the "Unbounded Love" bundle using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Crumb Cake card stock. I cut them out using the scalloped oval die from the same bundle. And at the same time I cut the Basic White dotted oval piece for the inside. I glued that piece to the Crumb Cake oval. Dimensionals were added to the back and I set the piece aside.

The Basic White leafy image is from the "Flowers of Beauty". I stamped the flowers using Moody Mauve ink. I stamped off once for the inside of the flowers and then I stamped the outline image. I stamped three of them and fussy cut them. 

I cut the leaf piece from the "Unbounded Love" bundle using a scrap piece of Old Olive card stock.

To assemble the front I added a little glue to the bottom end of the large leafy piece and set it in place. Then I set the oval in place.

The I added a little glue to the left side of the oval and I set the Old Olive leaf in place. The flowers had a little bit of glue added to the back and they were set in place on the left side of the oval.

I had some retired "Glitter Enamel Dots" that matched the ink well enough so I thought I'd use them. I have so many retired elements and it's nice to start using them. You can use the current ones but you get the idea.

This was a fun card to make and I can see myself making more using this fun layout.

Grassy Grove, Splendid Autumn, Masculine Fall Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fall card to share with you. When I started out making this card all I knew was that I wanted to use the "Grassy Grove" bundle.  Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold was on the top.

A 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock was cut for the layer.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock was cut using the forest die from the "Grassy Grove" bundle. A piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Splendid Autumn" stack was cut just a hair shorter than 4" x 5-1/4" so no edges would show behind the die cut forest. I glued the die cut tree piece to the DSP. Now don't do that yet, unless you are going to keep yours one color. I carefully colored on mine so I didn't get any marker on the DSP.  If I were to make another one I would color the card stock first. I used the dark Pecan Pie Blends pen to color the trunks and branches of the trees. On the grassy part I used my dark Mossy Meadow Blends pen. On the leaves of the trees I thumped on some dark Mossy Meadow, dark Pumpkin Pie and light Cherry Cobbler Blends pens. Now you are safe to glue the die cut tree piece to the DSP. 

Then those two layers were taped to the Pumpkin Pie piece and that was taped to the card base.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was taped to the inside of the card and the card was done.

I didn't use any wording for the front, I wasn't sure what I was going to use it for.

This was a fun card to make and I leaned a lesson while making it. It's all about living and learning, isn't it?

Layers of Beauty, Simply Zinnia, Anniversary Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on the internet. I was looking for a card to make that uses that busy zinnia Designer Series Paper (DPS).  You can see the original card here. I did change it a bit because I needed an anniversary card. Please read on to see how the card was made. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Berry Burst card stock. This is a color I don't use much of so it was nice to be able to play with it. A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was taped to the inside.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock for the layer. On top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of DSP from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I taped that to the Blackberry Bliss piece.

The Old Olive striped piece is from the same package and was cut at 1" x 3-7/8" and was taped about 2" from the top edge of the card.

Next I cut the Pumpkin Pie colored piece of DSP from the same package it measures 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" and the Blackberry Bliss layer behind it was cut at 2-1/2" x 2-1/2". I taped the two pieces together. I set that in place on the front of the card about 1-1/4" from the top edge and 5/8" from the fold.

I cut a piece of Basic White card stock that measures 1-7/8" x 3-3/8" after texturing it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I prefer to texture first and then cut so you get the exact size. The Blackberry Bliss layer behind it was cut at 2" x 3-1/2". I glued the Basic White piece to the Blackberry Bliss piece. I prefer glue because it sticks better on texture than tape does. I taped this piece to the Pumpkin Pie square layer. It's about 3/4" from the top edge and 7/8" from the fold.

The flower petals from the "Simply Zinnias" bundle were die cut next using Flirty Flamingo, Berry Burst and Blackberry Bliss card stock. I glued the three flowers together in the center only. The large center part was cut using a scrap piece of Crushed Curry and the star ring around that piece was cut from a scrap piece of Lemon Lolly. I glued those pieces in place. 

The stem was cut from a piece of Mossy Meadow and the leaves were cut from Granny Apple Green card stock.

I added glue behind the flower and a little glue on the stem about 3/4 of the way down and I slipped it under the flower. The leaves were added next.

Blackberry Bliss card stock was used for the word piece. The words are from the "Layers of Beauty" bundle and were stamped using Versa Mark ink. White embossing powder was sprinkled on top and heat set. I cut them out using the second stitched rectangle die from the "Nested Essentials" set. I set it in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make. It's got a lot of pieces and I was able to use that busy Zinnia DSP.

Autumn Leaves, Unbounded Love, Splendid Autumn, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick and easy card to share with you. It's using the scrap Designer Series Paper (DSP) from yesterday so part of the cutting is already done. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the front and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Timber" embossing folder. Usually I cut the card stock after I texture it so I don't lose any length or height. But I didn't this time and it's a bit shorter on the top and bottom than I like. But I'm sure had I not said anything you wouldn't have noticed it. I glued the textured piece to the front of the card. I find that when I used this texture my piece is a bit warped on the ends and edges. I glued close to the edges but it doesn't always look as nice as I want it to so while I was working on the other parts of the card I put it under a book and weighted it with a couple of punches. 

Next I took the DSP scrap from yesterday. It's from the "Splendid Autumn" 6" x 6" stack. You can pretty much use any DSP with this layout. My piece of DSP measures 4-1/2" x 2" and the Cajun Craze layer behind it measures 4-5/8" x 2-1/8". I taped the two pieces together. 

The words are from the "Unbounded Love" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the die from the same bundle. I also cut a piece of Cajun Craze using the same die. Then taking the Basic White piece I cut the scalloped edge off. I taped the words to the Cajun Craze piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and set aside.

I cut some leaves from the "Autumn Leaves" bundle. Using the small leaf I cut one of Pumpkin Pie card stock and one of Crushed Curry card stock. I also cut an oak leaf shape using the "Oxidized Copper" DSP. 

Taking my card base out from where it was being pressed I glued the DSP panel to the left. The words were added using Dimensionals. The copper leaf was added behind the word piece using glue and the smaller leaves were added using glue. I did cut the stem off the Cajun Craze one so it would have a cleaner look.  And that was it, the card was done.

This was a fun card to make plus I got to use up a scrap piece of DSP that would normally have gone back into the package and could sit there until I decide to get rid of it years down the road. I love it when I can use up scraps.

Autumn Leaves, Unbounded Love, Masculine Fall Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a masculine/fall birthday card to share with you. I like to lean towards masculine because of the fall colors and there's no flowers but it could be used for a female birthday card as well. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. You can use a half-sheet of Cajun Craze and a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White on the inside. I just found it used less colored card stock to cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece and tape it to the front.  But before that piece was taped I used the leaf vein images from the "Autumn Leaves" bundle and stamped them with Cajun Craze ink. 

After taping the Cajun Craze stamped piece to the front of the card base, I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock that measured 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" and a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Splendid Autumn" 6" x 5" stack was cut at 3-3/8" x 4-5/8" and taped to the Basic Black piece. Then that was taped to the Cajun Craze piece.

I cut a Garden Green and two Crushed Curry leaf veins using the die from the "Autumn Leaves" bundle. I also cut an oak leaf from the same bundle using the "Oxidized Copper" DSP. 

The words are from the "Unbounded Love" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them using the die from the same bundle. I didn't like that it didn't have a border so I used my Basic Black marker and colored around the edges. This is the part that I'm not thrilled with on this card. It's just too bright looking, plus I didn't to a good job coloring around those edges. But it is what it is.  The word piece was set in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

If I were to make another one (which I probably will because there's 3 more sheets in the stack) I would do something different with the word piece. Perhaps die cut a Basic Black piece and cut it in half and add each piece to the upper and lower part of the word piece so it looks like it has a layer that is a bit larger than the original one. All I really know is it could use a little work on the word piece.  You can probably come up with something better!

Joyful Images, Greetings of the Season, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on the internet. You can see the original card here. I made a few changes using the materials I had. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Garden Green card stock for the layer. On top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Take a Bow" 6" x 6" stack. I taped it to the Garden Green piece and then that was taped to the front of the card.

Next I cut the tag from the "Greetings of the Season" bundle using Basic White card stock. I took some of the new red and white Baker's Twine and tied a 7" piece through the hole in the tag and a knot was tied. I just left it hang long, after making sure the ends were trimmed evenly.

The packages image from the "Joyful Images" package was taped down. Dimensionals were added to the teddy bear from that same package. I lightly set it in place, I didn't press down on it.

The words are from the "Greetings of the Season" bundle and were stamped using Real Red ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them using the second smallest die in the "Stylish Shapes" set.

Before I set the word piece in place I took an 8" piece of Real Red (retired) ribbon and folded it at 2" and 4" to get that "Z" looking piece. I had never done this before so I wasn't sure how to make it hold it's place so what I did was I held the piece with one hand and slipped a couple of glue dots under the folded areas. Once I finished that I added some tape to the back and set the piece in place next to the bear. 

Dimensionals were added back to the back of the word piece and it was set in place with the right side being tucked under the bear a little.

I didn't have the peppermint candies that Stampin' Up! have in the new holiday catalog but I did have some polymer clay ones that I had made many years ago so I used them.  They got the job done! And that was it, the card was done.

I do like how this card turned out. I wasn't sure what I would be doing with all of those die cuts in the "Joyful Images" package but the more I see things coming out on the internet the more I'm glad I got it.

Joyful Images, Sophisticated Sled, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick and simple Christmas card to share with you using one of my favorite layouts. Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Poppy Parade card stock. It opens on the right and the folds is on the left. 

I cut a  4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the inside.

Next I cut the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Take a Bow" 6" x 6" stack at 2-7/8" x 4".  The Garden Green layer behind it was cut at 3" x 4-1/8".  I taped the two pieces together where I thought the circle would be punched out and I made sure they were lined up like they will be when finished.

Using the 1-1/4" circle punch I punched the two pieces together. Then I took the 1-3/8" circle punch and placing my DSP on a scrap piece of copier paper I punched out a ring. Try to keep it even all around. It's a little tricky because it's pretty thin. I am using retired punches but you can use circle dies that are close in the size, it will still look great. A few weeks back I used rounded corner rectangle dies from the "Nested Essential" set. So you can use pretty much any size and shape as long as they can layer each other.  After punching I taped the two layers together.

I cut a 2" x 2" piece of Basic White card stock and set it in place over the back of the circle using Dimensionals. Dimensionals were added to the rest of the entire piece and tape was added to the back of the Basic White 2" x 2" piece.

A 3-1/2" x 4-5/8" piece of gold card stock was cut for the layer. I think my gold paper is retired, I don't know for sure. It was in my stash so I grabbed it and used it.  You can use whatever you have or whatever is current, you get the idea that it's a gold piece. 

Removing the backing from the Dimensionals, I set the layered piece in place on top of the gold piece. Then tape was added to the back of the gold piece and the entire thing was set in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the die from the "Everyday Details" set. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card. 

The bulb was added next. It's from the "Joyful Images" pack. It's a great pack, it's full of printed images that have been die cut and you just pop out the ones you need and create. I didn't choose the bulb, it fell out of the sheet so I decided to make a card with it.  I added a Dimensional behind the bulb and set it in place in the center of the circle.  

A few snowflakes from the "White Loose Snowflakes" container were added using a little bit of mono glue and the card was done.

I'm pleased with the way the card turned out. I had originally had Real Red card stock cut for the base but it just didn't look right so I grabbed a piece of Poppy Parade and it just blended SO much better.

Joyful Images, Sophisticated Sled, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and I textured it using the "Falling Snow" embossing folder. I glued it to the card base.

Next I cut the frame using the "Countryside Corners" dies. I used the third and fourth largest dies. I set them up on my card stock and used post it tape to hold them in place while I cut them from Basic White card stock. Then I took the third one and I cut another piece using Basic White card stock. Using my Blending Brush I scrubbed on some Balmy Blue ink. I should have used Pool Party because of the colors on the snowman.

That snowman, adorable snowman is from the "Joyful Images" printed and precut images. I thought the set was so cute and it was a great price for all of the pieces you get. I plan on making more cards using them. But for today I used the snowman one. He's so cute and I'm very partial to snowmen.

I took that frame I made and added Dimensionals behind it and set it on top of the Balmy Blue piece I colored. I didn't stick it on top, I just set it there so I could see where the words would go. The words are from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and they were stamped using black Memento ink.  

Once the words were stamped I set the frame in place. Then the snowman was added using glue on one side and a few Dimensionals on the other side. I glued this piece to the front of the card.

I glued on a bunch of snowflakes from the "White Loose Snowflakes" container. They are SO darn cute too. I think they will be fun to use them in a shaker card.  I'll have to try that sometime soon.

This was a very fun card to make. I glued each snowflake in place which was the only thing that took the most time but it was SO worth it.

Happiest Day, Dotted Circles, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a monochromatic card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. There was no link to see any info on how it was made but it's pretty simple looking and easy to figure out. Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Summer Splash card stock and I textured it using the "Dotted Circles" embossing folder. I cut it down to 4" x 5-1/4" and glued it to the front of the card.

The words were stamped next from the "Happiest Day" set. They were stamped using Summer Splash ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut it out using the largest rectangle in the "Everyday Details" die set. 

Next I stamped the outline of the dragonfly using black Memento ink. The wings were stamped using Summer Splash ink. I added some Wink of Stella to give it a little sparkle. The liquid in the pen came out rather quickly when I put the brush to paper and it caused the upper top wing to blur. I guess I need to test it out on a scrap piece of paper first before going to the stamped piece.

This was a super quick and easy card to make. That background is a fun one to play with. When I got it I wasn't sure I'd use it much but the more I use it the more I'm liking it.

Autumn Leaves, Leaf Fall, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a simple card to share with you. It can be used as a thank you card or Thanksgiving card. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Pretty Peacock card stock for the layer.

On top of the Pretty Peacock piece is a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock that was textured using the "Leaf Fall" 3D embossing folder.  I had put this folder away because I thought it was retired. I'm glad I looked it up on the Stampin' Up! website. Anyway, after texturing it I glued it to the Pretty Peacock piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

The words are from the "Autumn Leaves" bundle. I stamped them using a super juicy black Memento ink pad. I had just inked it and I should have let it sit a bit before using it. But I didn't and this is what happens. The "I'm" is a bit thick. 

Next I set the square layered piece in place centering it on the left, top and right by eying it. And for those of you who like measurements, it's about 3/4" from those edges.

I cut a leaf from the "Oxidized Copper" Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the die in the "Autumn Leaves" bundle. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the upper left corner of the square.

I tied a linen bow and glued it to the leaf and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make. I love that DSP it's SO pretty. I haven't used it much because it's a bit expensive but I think I need to use it a lot more so I can use it up. I have SO much DSP leftover from years past. UGH! I need to stop hoarding it and use it up. I run out, so I run out. I'm pretty good at substituting and using what I have so going forward I'm going to try harder to use up my DSP so I'm not stuck with stacks of it that just sit there. It's a challenge and I hope I can meet it!

Simply Zinnia, Simply Said, Note or Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a friendship/just a note card to share with you. I will be sending this off in the mail tomorrow to a friend who's been so busy and is feeling worn out. I hope this cheers her up. I do not sign the cards. I put then in an envelope and then put that in a larger envelope and mail it off (with a little note on a separate piece of paper). When I saw this card on Pinterest I thought it would be a perfect one to help cheer her up. You can see the original card here. There were no instructions on how to make it so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It was cut in half on the short side of the sheet so once cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Cajun Craze card stock and Basic White card stock was cut. The Cajun Craze piece was taped to the front of the card.

The Basic White piece was stamped on using the zinnia image from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle using Crushed Curry ink. There's also a dotted image in the set that was used on the open spaces. Then I textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I didn't buy the zinnia folder, it was pretty but I was thinking it would retire too soon so I used what I had. After texturing it I cut it down to 3-3/4" x 5". I glued this piece on top of the Cajun Craze piece. 

Next came the fun part, the cutting of all the pieces. I used Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Basic White for the pieces. I assembled them all individually and then added them to the front of the card. I added the Crushed Curry one first, then the Cajun Craze one using a Dimensional behind each one. The Garden Green pieces were added next and the little star/buds were glued in place. 

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them using the third smallest stitched circle die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. I took my Cajun Craze marker and colored the edge. I had actually colored it using the "Crushed Curry" marker but it was too light so I colored over it. I was going to use my Blends pen but there was no Crushed Curry one, that's why I used a marker. Then I had to use the Cajun Craze marker because I thought the Blends pen might react differently to it. Did you really need to know all of that?  LOL  The word piece was set in place with Dimensionals and the card was done. Now to get it addressed and off in the mail for my friend.

This was a fun card to make, I do love gluing all of those pieces together. I think it's the details on it that make it more worthwhile to put together.
