Since it is New Year's Eve, I'm going to blog reminisce a little. I was going to make a card for tonight but instead I thought I would share with you the most popular card on my blog.  

I still like this card.  I wish I still had it in my stash!  But I know I have everything to remake it, so I just might do that!

Cookie Cutter Halloween, Get Well Card, Swirly Scribbles

When I saw this card on Pinterest, I knew I just had to make it. I also had most of the "stuff" to make it too!  I did make a few changes but it's basically the same card.  The original, made by Laura-Lee, can be found here. 

This was a fun and easy card to make.  The original card used a lacy heart, I didn't have that die so I used the "Swirly Scribbles" die instead. I  think it worked just fine.  

I loved how she used the mummy from the "Cookie Cutter Halloween" set to make the injured person!  I never would have thought of that. Hopefully the one who is getting this card (someday) will not be that wrapped up, the poor soul. 

I used the "Pretty Paisleys" embossing folder for the oval textured center.  I bought it and hand never used it all season. So glad I got to use it at least once!!!

The original card looked like there was a layer of gold metallic paper behind the focal piece.  I did have the metallic papers but I didn't want to use them on the card, I didn't think it fit well with the look of the card.  There was no other gold on the card to bring the layer in and have it blend.  So, I used Pirouette Pink for the layer.  I also used Pirouette pink on the "Swirly Scribbles" piece too.  

I stamped and punched out the mummy.  I colored in the face with a marker and I sponged the edges with black Memento ink.  There's where the problem came in.  I touched the edges of the mummy and got ink on my thumb.  Then I picked up the white focal piece and got a dot of ink on it.  This is where the pearls came in to play. I had to cover the ink with something because I REALLY didn't want to make another focal layer, especially when I actually got the words straight!!! (A rare thing lately).  So I added a few more pearls around the card to make it look like it was meant to be!  And it worked!!

I really like how the card turned out and I just LOVE how the mummy was used on a get well card.

Touches of Texture, Wetlands, Birthday Card

The "Touches of Texture" set was a must have for me but yet I have not played much with it! Grrr.  I have several sets that I thought I just HAD to have and yet I have hardly touched them.  Now to me that is a good sign that I buy too many stamp sets and I need to cut back.  So beginning in January with the new Occasions and Sale-a-Brations catalogs, I will be cutting back.  That will give me more time to play with a few new ones while still giving some of my old but current ones a little attention as well.

This was a fun card to make, though I think it looks a bit dull. I think the scallop around the birthday wishes would have looked better if it were dark.  I think there should be a layer around the decorative paper too, a dark color as well.  But it is what it is.

This is a fun two step set. You don't have to be exact with the center color part. It's not designed to match perfectly so you don't have to be careful when stamping it.

I stamped the stem using Old Olive. The outline of the flower was stamped using Rich Razzleberry and the flower was stamped using Melon Mambo.  I was going to use Rose Red but it looked too red against the Rich Razzleberry so I switched it to Melon Mambo.  The decorative paper is Melon Mambo too.  I need to use those giant stacks more often.  I end up with so much before they retire. Sounds familiar!!!  LOL  

This was a fun and quick card to make and I really like this layout.

Shooting Star, Spinner Card

The "Shooting Star" spinner card set and matching dies are SO much fun to play with. They can be a little tricky to put together but with the help of those who have played with the set and got the bugs worked out for you, it's SO much easier to do.  You can see the tips I have for you here.

This card was made using the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper that was colored using a sponge and Daffodil Delight ink.  The spinning star was stamped, die cut and colored before it was assembled.

The background was textured using the stars background embossing folder.

This set is a lot of fun to play with and who doesn't like getting a spinner card?  I had to play with every one I made!! That ways I could say that they were personally tested for quality assurance!!!  LOL  Though when you make them, you really should give them a few spins to make sure they roll smoothly around the circle.  You'd hate to give a faulty card out, especially to a kid!!!

Gift of Love, Spinner Card

Today I'm going to share with you a card I received in a swap last month.  This is a "Spinner"card using the "Sliding Star" Framelits and the "Gift of Love" stamp set.

This card was made by Tawna. The "Gift of Love" is a Hostess set.  It's a fun set and is also a two step stamping set.  No coloring involved at all, just ink up the images and stamp!!!  Super quick!!!

Beautiful You, Friendship Card

I thought this "Beautiful You" set would be a fun one to play with.  And like I said yesterday, I was going to leave the pad of "Serene Scenery" paper out so I could use more of it. When I said I was going to use more of it, I really did mean full sheets.  This is a scrap but they need to be used up too!!!

I stamped the image on the pretty sand and water scrap that was left over from yesterday's card.  But hey, at least a whole sheet got used up!!! LOL

This was a simple card to make.  A few layers and it was done. I used Pool Party on top of the Whisper White card base. I used the "Falling Snow" embossing folder to add some texture.  Then I used a scrap piece of Bermuda Bay behind the stamped image and a piece of Crumb Cake under that.  I set those 3 layers in place using Dimensionals.

This was a super quick card to make and I do loke how it turned out!!

Wetlands, Better Together, Masculine Sympathy Card

It seems strange not making any more Christmas cards.  I wasn't sure what I was going to make today. I thought about using the "Cookie Cutter Christmas" set to make another baby card using the bear but I think I'm all Christmased out as far as cards go.  

SO, while I was surfing at Pinterest, I ran across this card. The original card reads "All the best" (translated).  I thought this looked like a good sympathy card.  I love how the "Serene Scenery" 6" x 6" paper was used.  I may leave that s pad of paper out.  There's still a lot of paper in my pack!  You can see the original card here.  

I love how this does look like water and sand.  And the birds from the "Wetlands" set go so well with it.  I have a feeling that this set may be retiring.  I'm going to miss the wording on it the most.  It had the most perfect shaped happy birthday and thinking of you wording.  It fit the oval dies and scalloped dies nicely.  But I'm working on getting the right fonts together to make my own wording on the computer so I can just print them out whenever I need.  Sometimes it's just easier that way, plus you get the exact words you want.

This was a SUPER easy card to make.  I stamped the birds and words using Basic Gray ink.  The words here are from the "Better Together" set.  A set I have not used much at all too, but I do have plans for it in the near future.  I keep saying that I have not used some sets much.  That just tells me that I purchase too many and don't get to play with them enough.  I will  be making wiser choices in the new Occasions Catalog coming out on January 4.  

This was a fun card to make and I LOVE how quickly this card went together.

Cookie Cutter Christmas, 2016 Christmas Card

Merry Christmas to you!

This is the card I made this year for our yearly Christmas card.  Well, one of them.  I had to switch gears because this one was taking too long and I had tons of things going on and no time to get all things done.  You can see the other card I sent out here.  

This card was fun to make, though it had too many pieces to it to make for our holiday card in the time frame I had to do it in.

I used the gingerbread boy image. I stamped and punched it out twice.  I stamped and punched the bows.  I stamped the words and cut the layers.  I embossed the knitted background.  That took a while because the card stock needs to be misted so you can get a nice crisp deep impression.  Then they have to dry.  Which wasn't a big deal because I started with them and by the time I finished with all of the stamping and punching, the background was dry.

It was a fun card to make but like I said, I didn't have a lot of time to get all of them done in time. So what is left I will still put together and just sell them at the garage sale and fall craft fairs.

Cookie Cutter Christmas, Baby Card

I saw some cute bear cards made using the "Cookie Cutter Christmas" set and punch. I loved the idea that I could use this cute bear from the set and make a non-Christmas card with it.  It falls under my love for versatile stamp sets!  So now that Christmas card making is ending, I thought I would make a baby card or cards using the cute bear. I did not use the bear in any of my Christmas cards so this was a perfect time to take him out and make a card.

I used Pirouette Pink and Pool Party for my colors.  The bear is set in place with Dimensionals.  The words are from the "Happy Happenings" set.   I was thrilled to see that I had a set that had baby wording in it!! YAY!!!

I used the knitted sweater embossing folder for the background. I sure hope that makes it into the new catalog.  It's a fun folder to play with.  But I'm sure I could find something else for the background if I need to make more baby cards.

This was a fun card to make and now I have a few baby cards on hand.

Snow Place, Snow Friends, Swirly Scribbles, Christmas Card

When I saw this card on Pinterest, I knew I just had to make it. Plus I knew I had all of the materials to make it!!!  I did make more snowflakes in the background than the original card had.  I wish I would have paid better attention, I just got carried away making snowflakes!!! LOL  I still like how it turned out. Oh, before I forget, you can see the original card here.  

I used the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper for the snowman and snow. I had some black and red glitter paper for the hat and bow.  The snowman is from the "Snow Friends" dies.  The snow waves at the bottom is from the "Swirly Scribbles" set.  I have a feeling that set will be retiring.  Which will be sad, so I am going to be using it for a while so I feel that I have not cheated myself out of using it!!!

Okay, back to the card.  The words are from the "Snow Place" set. (Which I'm 100% sure will not be in the 2017-2018 Catalog).  The words were bent a little before I put them on the clear block, that way they followed the waves of the snow.  Another reason why I love the clear stamps, they are bendy!!! LOL

The snowman and hat were set in place using Dimensionals. The bow was glued in place.  And if you look at the snowflakes in the background, you will see that I added a little tiny rhinestone!  And that's it.  A pretty easy card to make!

So Very Much, 2017 Sale-a-Bration, Hat Punch, Thank You Card

What a perfect large "thank you" in the "So Very Much" 2017 Sale-a-Bration set.  I am in need of a few thank you cards for some Christmas gifts I received and I thought this would be a perfect way to say "thank you" on my cards!

I stamped the words using Cucumber Crush ink. I punched the hat using Real Red and then I punched the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter paper and glued the hat together. 

I set the hat in place using Dimensionals. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red card stock on top and then the word piece was cut 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  And that's it. Easy Peasy and super quick too!!

Christmas Ornament Swap using Hang Your Stocking and Christmas Pines

This is the ornament I made for the Ornament Swap last night at Technique Night.  

For my ornament I took the stitched circle and sewed it to the Scalloped Circle.  I did stitch it by hand. There are 96 stitches around that circle, in case you were curious!!! LOL

I cut out a total of 4 round scalloped circles. One is sewn to the round focal one and the other three were glued to each other and set under a heavy book to keep flat until it dried. Once it was dry, I glued the stitched piece to the backing pieces and added a ribbon in between for the hanger.

I cut a 3/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and centered it in the "Banner Triple" punch.  I cut another piece that was 1" and just punched a sliver so I could use it as the roof.  

The circle for the bird hole is a scrap from punching out a "Cookie Cutter Christmas" Santa.  

The leaves are from the "Berry Builder" Punch.  I used some card stock pieces that were left over from the "Falling Snow" embossing folder.  

I used 3 branches from the "Christmas Pines" die.  I sponged everything with Pink Pirouette ink.  

The words are from the "Oh, What Fun" set.  I embossed them in white.  I also mixed up some texture by using white glue and white craft inker.  It's kind of snotty feeling and it takes a little white to setup.  I didn't want to heat set it because I didn't want the embossing ink to melt to where it was no longer raised.

I added a snowflake from the "Hang Your Stocking" set.  I added pearls all over the front.

I had some round white "berries" from a holiday pick and I put 3 of them on the ornament.  The center one was there to hide where the pieces joined.  It looked funny alone, so I had to add two more to balance it out.

This was fun to make.  It had a lot of pieces to it and I don't think I'd like to make any more of them but one never knows!!! LOL

Pivot Twist Pop Up Technique, Guy Greetings Masculine Birthday Card

The swap for this month is to make a card using either the "Pivot Twist Pop Up" technique or the "Reflections" technique.  I chose the one with the most pieces (of course!!! LOL).  But it's okay, I do like how it turned out.

It does have lots of pieces to it but it has to.  This technique is not as difficult as you'd think it is.  I found several instructions on the net for it and I combined and simplified them to make this technique easy and painless.  The most important part is when folding the mechanism piece to pay attention to the mountain and valley folds.  If you fold them all the same it will still work, but it will not be as easy to fold together.  If you do the mountain and valley folds, the piece practically goes together itself.  You will understand what I mean when you put one together.

For my card I used the Dapper Denim for the base and the layer on the front.  I also used the Dapper Denim decorative paper from the 12" x 12" in colors pack.  I was happy to finally use some of that paper!!!

So, have fun with this technique. It's fun and amazing once you get it together and open it for the first time.  It may be a little stiff but if you open and close it a few times it will loosen up.

Christmas Magic, Christmas Card

I was looking at the "Christmas Magic" stamp set thinking that I should make a card using the train image.  I like the train image but it looks like a lot of work and time to color.  Maybe tomorrow. So today I thought I would stamp the snowman since I like snowmen more than I like trains!!!

This was an easy card to make.  I used a folded half sheet of Real Red card stock for the base. The next layer is Crumb Cake cut 4" x 5-1/4". Then a piece of the "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper (DSP) was cut 2' x 3-3/8".  

I stamped the snowman and then die cut it. I also die cut a Real Red scallop for behind the snowman piece.  I colored the snowman with markers.  I cut a couple of scrap pieces of the DSP and set them in place behind the circle.

I stamped the words, they were from this set.  And I set the snowman layered piece in place using Dimensionals.  Yup, as simple as that.  And quick too!
