Back on Your Feet, Get Well Card, 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I saw this set in the new catalog and I knew I just had to have it.  It did not come with dies so the cost was less than those that do.  There's two other animals in the set and I can't wait to play with them either.  But I thought I would start with the turtle because I wanted to play with green today.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock.  I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Old Olive card stock and textured it with the new "Eyelet Lace" embossing folder.  Cute, isn't it?  I taped that to the card base.

I cut a 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Regals 6" x 6" package.  You get 40 sheets in those packages.  Such a great deal.  I taped the DSP strip to a 1-3/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  And I taped the strip on top of the "Eyelet Lace" piece.

Next I stamped the turtle from the "Back on Your Feet" set using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock.  I colored him in using Blends pens.  I used Old Olive, light and dark and Crumb Cake light.  I also added a little bit of light Smoky Slate to the bottom shadow area of the turtle back. I die cut it with the second largest square stitched die.  Then I die cut a scalloped square from Crumb Cake card stock.  I taped the two squares together and I set them in place using Dimensionals.  

The words are from the same set and I stamped them using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock.  I die cut them with an oval die and I also die cut a scalloped oval from a scrap piece of Crumb Cake card stock. I taped the two ovals together and I set them in place using Dimensionals.  

I colored some rhinestones using the dark Granny Apple Green Blends pen and I set them in place on the card front.

For the final touch, I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock on the inside and the card was done.

I think it's adorable.  I may make a couple more to sell in my web store.  I was asked if I ever sell my cards and I usually just sell some at a craft fair but I think I'll start putting some in my store. I'll post it on here when I add one.  And I'll even post a link to make it easier to access it.

Free as a Bird, Good Morning Magnolia, Thinking of You Card

NEW STUFF!!!!  My new stuff arrived on Thursday afternoon.  Early afternoon. The UPS driver doesn't usually come until around three. SO I thought I would run up to Michael's because I actually needed something and I had a 50% off coupon.  As I was meandering around the store because I thought I should shop longer, my phone chimed which told me that there was someone at my front door. I looked and sure enough my stamping order had arrived.  So I headed to the register to pay so I could get home before someone sees the box on my porch and takes it.  I haven't had that happen yet but there's always a chance.  But they would be on camera, if they show their face.

SO, this is one of the sets I bought.  The birds are from the "Free as a Bird" set.  I thought it was such a fun looking set.  

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock.  On top of that I taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Magnolia Lane" 12" x 12" pack.  I didn't buy the DSP that was designed to go with the bird set, I had to draw the line somewhere.  I taped the DSP to the card base. 

I cut a 2-1/2" x 4-3/8" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the birds on it and then colored them in using the Blends pens. I used the Daffodil Delight light and dark, Crumb Cake light and dark, Flirty Flamingo light and dark, Granny Apple Green light and dark and Balmy Blue light and dark.  After coloring, I cut a 2-5/8" x 4-3/4" piece of Basic Black for the layer. I taped the layers together and then I taped them to the DSP

The words are from the "Good Morning Magnolia" set.  I am in need of adding some "thinking of you" cards to my stash and I liked the font here.  I stamped the words using black Memento ink and I die cut them with the "Stitched" circle die.  I also die cut a Basic Black scalloped circle for the layer.  I set the circle in place using Dimensionals. 

I stamped a single flower and fussy cut it out. I colored it with the Flirty Flamingo light and dark Blends pens.  I set it on the circle with a small Dimensional.  I added some tiny pearls to the flowers with the birds and a little bit larger one on the fussy cut flower.  And that completed the card!

I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this set.

Waterfront, Masculine Birthday Card

My nephew is turning 30 and I thought I would make him a card. I found this one on Pinterest.  I thought it was something that would fit him.  He likes to ski, so I went with the mountain images instead of the car set that I have.

This was a very easy card to make.  The images do all of the highlighting.  

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Balmy Blue card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Soft Suede.  On top of the Soft Suede is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  I scored it every 1/4" to give it some texture and then taped it to the Soft Suede piece.

I cut a 2" x 5-1/8" piece of Balmy Blue card stock and I stamped the "Happy Birthday" from the "Amazing Life" set that I just now realized was retired.  I stamped the words using Pacific Point ink.

I die cut a stitched square using Whisper White card stock. I cut the largest square.  I layered that square with a piece of Balmy Blue card stock that measured  2-7/8" x 2-7/8". 

I stamped the left mountains using Soft Suede ink. For the middle mountain I just stamped the image again without inking it up.  And then I stamped the mountains on the right using full ink.

Next I stamped the grassy area at the foot of the mountains. I used Pear Pizzazz ink.  I also used Pear Pizzazz ink on the right and left side of the square. I used the same long stamp that I used for the foot of the mountains. I just inked up the ends of the stamp.  

I stamped the water using the image that was designed for the water. I stamped off once.  For the center part of the water, I used the other water image. I did not stamp off for that.  I was kind of disappointed in the water after I did that. I kind of liked the soft clear look that was there before I stamped.  I also stamped some dots in the sky. I did stamp off when doing them. The words are from the "Perennial Birthday"

The trees were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink.  

After stamping the trees, I taped the squares together.  I taped the Happy Birthday strip to the Crumb Cake piece.  I wrapped some linen thread around the strip three times and taped the ends to the backside.  I taped the piece to the card base. 

I set the square in place using Dimensionals.  And for the final touch, three dots were added.  I had used some retired candy dots.  I have LOTS of those things left and I need to use them up.

Could you imagine what my workroom would be like if I managed to use up all of my retired stuff?  Empty.  That's what it would look like!!!  LOL

This was a fun card to make and I think my nephew will like it.

Dandelion Wishes, Get Well Card

Once again I find myself doing some sponging in of colors.  It's not one of my favorite techniques but I like it much better now that I have all of my sponge daubers in a container instead of just taking a clean one each time I want to sponge. I labeled the daubers and now they will never need to be washed, plus they are all in one place and ready to use.  

Today's card was, all in all, pretty fun to make.  I did have to use some retired Designer Series Paper (DSP) because my order doesn't arrive until Thursday afternoon.  That translates into "you have to use retired stuff until then".  The "Dandelion Wishes" stamp set is not retired, so if you want to make a card like this, just substitute the DSP for something current, or if you want to use up retired papers or other papers you have, go for it!!!  It's an easy enough layout.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  The DSP was cut 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  I taped that to the Basic Black layer.  

I cut a 2" x 5-1/8" piece of Whisper White and I stamped the dandelion image from the "Dandelion Wishes" set.  I used the image that has the three dandelions instead of the single one.  I used Versa Mark to stamp them and I sprinkled them with clear embossing powder.  I heat embossed them and then I sat down to do my sponging.

For my sponging I used Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Mint Macaron, Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather.  I taped the panel to a 2-1/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic Black card stock.  I taped that panel to the front of the card.

The words are from the same "Dandelion Wishes" set. I stamped them using black Memento ink.  I die cut them with the stitched circle die and then I die cut a scalloped circle die using Basic Black card stock for the layer.  I taped the circles together and then I used Dimensionals to affix them to the front of the card.

I used some sequins from the "Iridescent" sequin assortment.  And much to my surprise, they were not retired!!!  YAY!!!  I glued the sequins in place and the card was done.

Dragonfly Dreams, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Birthday Card

 Today I have fun playing with the "Vellum View" technique.  You can see another card I had made using that technique here.  

This is a very fun and quick card to make.  The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of the thicker vellum, card stock vellum.  I set the piece aside.

I cut a 6" x 4" piece of Gorgeous Grape card stock and I folded it in half.  It now measures 3" x 4".  I taped it to the inside of the card.

I cut a 2-7/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Whisper White card stock and I stamped the flower from the "Abstract Impressions" set using Gorgeous Grape ink.  I taped that piece on top of the Gorgeous Grape piece that's taped inside the card.

The words are from the "Happy Birthday Gorgeous" set.  I stamped them on top of the vellum using black StazOn ink. This set is retired but I liked the font used here.  

I die cut a dragonfly from the "Dragonfly Dreams" set.  I set the dragonfly in place using Dimensionals.  I colored over the entire dragonfly with the Wink of Stella pen. I wanted it to have some shimmer.

I added a 2-7/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside of the Gorgeous Grape piece and the card was done.

I liked making this card. It was super quick and simple to do.  The stamping of the flowers took the most time and those were pretty quick to stamp too.  I had no whining or complaining as I made this card!!! LOL

In a couple more days my new stuff will be here and I won't have to work so hard to use what I have that is current.  So sad, isn't it?  I should be using what I have.

Dandelion Wishes, Get Well Card

I found a fun video on Pinterst to make this card. So I thought I would give it a try.  Some videos miss steps, assuming that you know what you are doing.  Some don't explain things well and sometimes your card doesn't turn out the way the original card looks.  Well, mine turned out they way I expected and hoped it would.  I made a couple minor changes, one because of the item and one because I didn't watch the video first and then play along.  I assumed.  LOL  You can see the video here.  

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Coastal Cabana card stock.  This card opens on the right.

What I did first was cut a 2" x 5-1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and I sponged on the colors.  I used dauber sponges.  I didn't have the Grapefruit Grove color ink, so I lightly used Pumpkin Pie ink.  I thought it was odd to sponge in the darker colors first.  Kind of a rule of thumb in the artists world that you start with the lighter colors and go darker.  But here I sponged on Coastal Cabana ink, then Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie (lightly or Grapefruit Grove if you have it) and Mango Melody.  

You will use the embossing buddy before you stamp the image from "Dandelion Wishes" using black Memento ink.  Then you will stamp the flying seeds image using Versa Mark and heat emboss them with silver embossing powder.  It's kind of hard to see it's silver here but it is.  Maybe you can see it if you click on the photo to enlarge it.  Once the embossing is done the strip was taped to a 2-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Silver Foil card stock.  

The dandelion image was stamped on the card front using Versa Mark ink.  Then the strip was taped on. 

The words are from the same set and stamped using black Memento ink.  I die cut it with a circle that was just a little smaller than the "Starburst" punched piece of Highland Heather. I sponged Highland Heather on the circle but the instructions said to use Coastal Cabana.  I think this way looks just fine so now you have two choices when you get to this part.  

Silver thread was wound around spread fingers about 5 or 6 times and then gathered together and attached to the circled.  The instructions have you sandwiching them between the circle and the starburst piece.  I didn't do that.  I had already taped my circles together before I got to that part. So mine were affixed to the back of the starburst piece.  Then the piece was set in place using Dimensionals.  A few rhinestones were set on the card and a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Very Vanilla was taped to the inside of the card and it was done.  

I REALLY like how this card turned out.  The silver seeds, shiny rhinestones, silver foil and silver thread all make this card just sparkle!  I can see myself making this again sometime.  Or using these elements to make a different card.  I love all that silver on the card.  Oh and I actually had all the stuff (and it was not retired) to make this card!

Better Together, May 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Birthday Card

Today I wanted to play with the flowered note cards in my May 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit.  I liked the images on the note cards but I just don't do note cards, so I converted almost all of mine into a regular size greeting card.  And this is what I came up with today.  You can do this with some of the current stamps and Designer Series Paper (DSP).  You can do this with your stash of retired DSP too and get rid of some of them a quick and easy way!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. I stamped the cute flower from the Paper Pumpkin kit using Mossy Meadow ink that I stamped off once before stamping on the card base. 

Next I took the floral note card and cut it to 3-1/2" x 2-1/2".  I also cut the Mossy Meadow layer for behind the floral note piece.  That measured 3-5/8" x 2-5/8".  I taped those two layers together and taped them to the left side of the card.

I looked through my stamp sets to find a larger "happy birthday".  I needed something that would take up some serious real estate here but not to cover the whole card front.  I found these words in the "Better Together" set. I did look them up in the new catalog and they are not in there. So this is another set that I need to add to the retired pile. I still have not take the time to pull all the retired sets from my stash.  I will need to do this before my new stuff arrives.  But for now I'll just use what I have and look it up as I use it and deal with it that way.

I stamped the words using Mossy Meadow ink (I did not stamp off).  I had set the words in my Stamparatus and stamped them that way. I didn't like how the ink didn't cover everywhere so I inked up the image again and stamped it one more time.  I liked how nice and dark and crisp and clear it was so I removed it and die cut it with the "Stitched Oval" dies.  I also die cut a Mossy Meadow scalloped oval at the same time.  I taped the two ovals together.  I set the ovals in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.

I punched out two of the flowers from the kit and I glued them to the oval.  I was going to use snail tape but I thought glue would be better.  

I think the card is kind of blah. Perhaps it could use some Wink of Stella or something in the center of each flower, though I think that might be too much.  Maybe just the flower centers of the ones that are on the oval.  I don't know. I just think it needs something.

It was a fun card to make and I am thinking of making another one using the new stuff once it arrives.  And then I'll probably take some of my old retired DSP (I have tons of it) and some that I had gotten at Michael's and JoAnn's (I might even still have some from Archiver's) and put together some cards for the craft fair. I try not to hoard.  But I do end up with lots of leftovers! Though with layouts like this I can use them up!  This layout will work for a get well, thinking of you, sympathy, Mother's Day, thank you cards as well as the birthday card.  I LOVE versatility!

All Geared Up, Masculine Birthday or Father's Day Card

I got out my "All Geared Up" stamp set and thought I would make a masculine card.  I had mixed feelings about this card.  Ever since this set came out I would play with it now and then and regretted not getting the Designer Series Paper (DSP) to go with it.  Well, after cleaning in my workroom, I had found the 6" x 6" DSP with my other 6" x 6" DSP stacks.  So all this time I could have been playing with it.  See, that is how messy my workroom was.  But now that I have sorted through my papers I should be able to find things better.  It just got out of control.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP from the "Classic Garage" 6" x 6" paper stack.  Now you could take the car image and Versa Mark ink and stamp over some Basic Black card stock and emboss it with white embossing powder and you'd have a close look to this.  Or maybe white craft ink on black or gray card stock.  But I'm using the DSP since I have it!  Sometimes I wish that Stampin' Up! would carry over their DSP to the next catalog.  Some of it is so pretty and fun that it should carry over.

Okay, back to my card.  I die cut a Whisper White circle, mine is 2-5/8" and I also die cut a scalloped circle a little bit larger.  I also cut some gears at the same time.  I stamped some bolts on the Whisper White circle using Smoky Slate ink that was stamped off once.  I taped it to the Real Red card stock and I taped those layers to the DSP.

I stamped the car on Whisper White card stock and die cut it out.  I colored it with both the light and dark Real Red Blends pens.  I colored the grill using light Smoky Slate and the lights were colored in using light Daffodil Delight Blends.  I set the car in place using Dimensionals.

I stamped the words on a 3-1/8" x 3/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I also cut a 3-1/4" x 7/8" piece of Real Red for the layer. I taped those two pieces together and I set them in place using Dimensionals.  I glued the gears in place and added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside and the card was done. 

I do like playing with this set.  I am going to have to look in the new catalog and see what DSP they have to go with it. I would love to play with it more.

It Starts With Art, New 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I struggled with this set in a number of ways.  First I struggled to find some samples on the internet to copy or for inspiration.  I did end up finding this one which I changed a bit due to the supplies I had on hand. You can see the original card here.  I like it because it used the buttons embossing folder, which I do not have. I only have this set because my sister attended "On Stage" and received this set.  She gave it to me but I will probably be giving it back to her because I find it very difficult to work with.  The set also comes with matching die cuts, but all I had was the set so I had to do fussy cutting.  I was okay with that but I just kept thinking of what I could do with this card.  

I even struggled with the title here.  I usually type in the name of the set and then add a comma and the type of card it is, such as birthday, get well, etc.  I would think this may fall under the "Friendship" category.  I couldn't even work this into any other category.  I like sets that are versatile.  This one is not.  

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White that was embossed with the "Lace" embossing folder.  I taped that to the card base.

Then I cut a 3-1/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Pumpkin Pie Designer Series paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" paper pack.  Mine is retired but there's new designs in the new catalog.  But I'm using what I had.

I cut a 4-1/2" x 5/8" strip of Bermuda Bay DSP.  And then I cut a 4" x 1/2" strip of Rich Razzleberry card stock.  

I taped the Pumpkin Pie DSP to the embossed piece.  Then I taped the Bermuda Bay piece down and finally the Rich Razzleberry strip.  

Next I die cut the largest square "Stitched" die.  I set that in place using Dimsnsionals.  I didn't stamp the words on because I thought I could find something else that would work.

I had stamped the images using black Memento ink. I fussy cut all the pieces out.  I colored them using both light and dark Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry Blends pens.  I taped the pens in place using snail tape.  I set the spools in place using Dimensionals and the words are from the same "It Starts With Art" set. I stamped them using black Memento ink and used the "Classic Label" punch to punch them out. I taped the left side and used a small Dimensional on the right side. Before I set it in place I took the dark Rich Razzleberry Blends pen and ran the edge of the card stock along the side of the pen.  

I think I had more fun doing the fussy cutting than I did making the card.  And you know how much I love fussy cutting!  LOL  I just can't see myself using this set in the future.  I do like how the original card looks but can't for the life of me figure out who to give the card to and why.  This set is cute, but it's not my taste.

Perennial Birthday, Birthday Card

Are you ready for a super simple and unbelievable quick card?  I was amazed at how quickly this card went, from start to finish.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is the focal piece.  I had die cut the squares.  I used the second and third largest squares in the set.  If you don't have those squares the pieces measured 2-7/8" x 2-7/8" for the Blushing Bride piece.  The flowered image is from the retired "Share What You Love" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  That piece measured 2-5/8" x 2-5/8".  I plan to remake this card using some new DSP when my order arrives.  

I set the largest square on top of my card front so I could see where the word placement would go.

The words are from the "Perennial Birthday" set. I stamped them using Mossy Meadow ink.

Next I taped the two pieces together and set them in place on the card using Dimensionals.  There is an 11/16" space between the edges of the card base and the focal piece on all three sides. 

The card still needed a little something, so I added three pearls between the focal piece and the words.  And that was it.  Super quick, simple and very pretty!

Dandelion Wishes, Get Well Card, Bokeh Technique

Today's card was a fun find from Pinterest.  I wanted to try the "Bokeh" technique again.  I haven't done it in a while and I didn't seem to have any negative thoughts about it, so I assumed it was an okay technique to do! LOL

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black.  This card opens on the right.

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Mint Macron card stock and textured it with the "Tufted" embossing folder.  I taped it to the card base.

I cut a 4" x 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock and sponged in some colors.  Here started out with Daffodil Delight, then Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape. 

The technique is to take white ink and sponge circles all over the piece.  I punched out a 3/4" and 1" circle.  The white ink doesn't seem to dry nicely so I did hop on over to my heat embossing tool and I dried the ink.  

Next I stamped the image from the "Dandelion Wishes" using black Memento ink.  I also used my heat tool to dry it.  I was sort of in a hurry.  Though I'm sure if I would have set it aside while I worked on the words, it probably would have been dry by the time I needed it.

I taped the stamped piece to a 4" x 2-3/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  And then I taped that to the card front.

I stamped the words from the "Dandelion Wishes" set using black Memento ink.  I die cut a stitched circle, a Basic Black scalloped circle and a Bermuda Bay circle.  I die cut them all at the same time.

I stamped some dandelion seeds on the word piece using Bermuda Bay ink that was stamped off three times. I wanted it very light.  I did make sure that the one seed was sort of straight up so I could add a rhinestone later.  I taped the three layers together and I set them in place on the card using Dimensionals.  

I tied a bow and used a glue dot to hold it in place just below the stem.  I added two rhinestones, one on the word piece and one in the center of the large dandelion.  

And for the final touch, I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card.  And that was it!

This was a fun and easy technique and a fun card to make too!

Varied Vases, Birthday Card

Today I'm playing with the "Varied Vases" set.  It's in the current catalog.  I just placed my order this morning and now I wait for my new stuff to come.  I wait patiently!!! LOL  But in the meantime I will play with sets that are in the current catalog. 

I saw this card when I was going to place my order this morning.  You can see the original card here.  I changed it a little but it's still pretty.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Melon Mambo.  And on top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Whisper White card stock.  

I stamped the vases first and then the flowers.  I colored the flowers on the left using the Melon Mambo marker. The flowers in the center I used Mango Melody ink and the flower stamp.  And for the flowers on the right I used the dark Petal Pink Blends pen.  The tulip was stamped using black Memento ink on Melon Mambo card stock and then punched out.  I set it in place using a small Dimensional.

I colored the inside of the vases with the light Petal Pink Blends pen.

I cut a 2-1/4" x 3-7/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP), mine is from the now retired "Share What You Love" pack.  I taped the DSP to the bottom of the card and then took a piece of Melon Mambo ribbon and taped the ends on the backside.  I tied a knot in the front with a smaller piece of ribbon.  

The words are from the "Southern Serenade" set, which I believe is retired as well.  I need to get my stamp sets sorted out so the retired stuff is on a different shelf.  Though the words don't matter, you will find what you like or need and put it in that space anyway.  I stamped the words on Whisper White card stock using black Memento ink.  I die cut them with the stitched oval die and then die cut a Melon Mambo scalloped circle.  I taped the ovals together and then set them in place using Dimensionals.  

And for the final touch, I added a couple of small pearls to the flowers on the left.  And that was it.  I thought it was a pretty simple card and a pretty card at that!

Beautiful Bouquet, May 2019 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card, Birthday Card

Yup, you guessed it. I still have some May 2019 Paper Pumpkin pieces left.  Actually I have lots of them but I'm hoping to use them up by duplicating some of the cards I have already made. I am on a quest to use up the items in the kit.  Too many times I just make a card or two and then move onto something else.  I'm going to try harder to make cards from the kits and use up the pieces.  

Today's card was found on Pinterest. I did make a few little changes but it's pretty close to the original card.  

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock.  On top of that is taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Soft Suede card stock that was textured using the "Pinewood Planks" embossing folder.  On top the Soft Suede piece is taped a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Very Vanilla.  And the focal piece is from the May 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit.  The piece was cut to 3-3/8" x 4-5/8".  

I colored the leaves using the light Old Olive Blends pen. I colored the flower buds using the light Real Red Blends pen.  The tiny buds were colored using the light Bermuda Bay Blends pen.  Click on the photo to see a closer look.

I colored the eggs using a blender pen and the Balmy Blue marker.  I added white dots using the chalk marker.  I colored above the eggs using the Crushed Curry marker.  And I colored the nest using the So Saffron marker. I also colored over some of the Crushed Curry area to soften it a bit.  I taped this piece to the Very Vanilla piece on the card.

The words were stamped on a piece that came in the kit.  I had stamped Soft Suede on it using the splatter image in the kit. I did stamp off two times before I stamped onto the piece. 

The words are from the "Beautiful Bouquet" set. I used Soft Suede ink to stamp them.  I set that piece in place using Dimensionals.

The feather is from the kit. I punched it out and set it in place using two small Dimensionals.  

I thought it was a pretty card and would make a great masculine birthday card.

Beautiful Promenade, Sympathy Card, Interlocking Rectangle Gate Fold Technique Card

The "Interlocking Rectangle Gate Fold Technique Card" sure is a mouthful of words!  This really is a very fun and simple technique.  You can find a video for this technique here.  

The base of my card is a half-sheet of Whisper White card stock that was scored at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" on the long side.  The sides are folded inward.

Next I die cut the frame. I used the first, third and fifthth largest "Stitched Rectangle" dies.  The first and third largest were used for the frame.  I set up the dies on a piece of "Share What You Love" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I had also die cut a Whisper White piece to tape to the DSP, I wanted it to be a firmer piece than the original instructions were asking for.

I die cut the center panel using the fifth largest die.  I also die cut a second piece using Whisper White card stock.  I wanted that panel to be firmer too.

I taped the left side of the frame to the left side of the front of the card.  And then I taped the panel to the right side of the right front of the card.  Be sure not to get tape beyond the halfway mark or your card will be taped shut.

For my design, I stamped the flower from the "Beautiful Promenade" set using Rich Razzleberry ink. I also stamped the inside of the flower with Rich Razzleberry ink but I stamped off once. I took the Wink of Stella pen and colored the inside of the flower.  It caused the ink to smear which made the flower look more pink on the inside. A welcomed and fun effect.

I die cut some leaves from the "Beautiful Layers" thinlits that were from the bundle (you can purchase the stamp set and dies at the same time for a discounted price, but this is only when they are first introduced).  The leaves were die cut using Old Olive card stock.

I set the flower in place using Dimensionals.  The leaves were added behind it.  

The words are from the "Itty Bitty Greetings" set. They were stamped using black Memento ink.  I punched them out using the "Classic Label" punch. I set them in place using Dimensionals. I added a leaf behind the word piece using snail tape.  

And for the final touch, I added some crystal rhinestones around the card to give it some bling.
