A Watercolor Wash Background Birthday Card

Today I am going to share with you a card I made at Terri's FABULOUS Stamp a Stack a couple of nights ago.  She always has such fun and creative cards.  Some are quick to make and some take a little bit longer but there's not that take so much time that you don't like making it.  I LOVE layers so I'm okay with any type of cards.  But there are times when I'm just ready for some quick and simple ones.  

This one was easy to do.  First we stamped the background using Smoky Slate.

Next we stamped the words and punched the ends of the Whisper White card stock and the Sweet Sugarplum card stock.  Those two were taped together and then the string was added. 

The butterfly was punched from Sweet Sugarplum decorative paper and set in place with a dimensional. 3 pearls were added to the butterfly and that was it.  Easy peasy. Quick and cute!!!

Botanical Builder, Timeless Textures, Touches of Texture Thank You Card

This was a very fun card to make.  In face I made 4 of them. 3 of which went to 3 wonderful ladies who left comments on my post from July 23rd.  You can see that post here.  I was going to do a random drawing but since it was only 3 people who commented. I decided not to do the drawing mainly because I didn't like the way that card turned out.  SO, they each get one of that looks close to this one.

I do like this card, but if I was to do it over, I would have made the card as long as the card front so there'd be no top or bottom border.  But it's okay, I still like it.

I used So Saffron for the decorative paper.  The card stock colors are Peekaboo Peach and So Saffron. I also added Pear Pizzazz leaves.

Now this is not my original idea. I had found it on the internet.  And I was not able to find where I got the original card from. My computer now runs on Linux (my son thought it would be better - if you like rebooting every time you want to use it, though I don't see how that is better!!).  Anyway, I lost the site where I was at when I had to reboot.  All I remember was that it was a typepad site.  So, if this is your card (with a few minor changes) or if you know who made a card similar to this one, please let me know so I can give that person the credit that is due to them.

What I found fun about this card was the gold glitter paper centers.  Oh and the "Timeless Textures" images I added. That was not on the original card.  

The words are from the Hostess "Gift of Love" set.  I need to play with that set a bit more, it's got some fun elements to it.

A Swirly Scribbles and Teeny Tiny Wishes Halloween Card

I know it's a little early for Halloween but I found a card similar to this made by Mena at Personally Yours. She had two pumpkins on her card, which I liked.  But when I was cutting out my scribbly circles, I like to use up the piece of card stock so I cut out a few more and when I brought them to my worktable, three had landed on my paper and I thought I would run with that.

This is a very simple card to make.  I just cut out the circles with the die from the "Swirly Scribbles" set and glued them in place.  I've shared the way I glue before but I will again. I just add some white glue to a piece of waxed paper and if the glue is too thick I fold the waxed paper in half and then open it back up.  I set the piece on the glue and lightly tap the card stock so it picks up some glue and I set it in place on the card.  Same with the leaves.  I already had the glue on the waxed paper, so why not use it up.

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I hope Stampin' Up! doesn't retire it for a long time, I have so much fun with it.

A Rose Wonder Papillon Potpourri Sympathy Card

There's several elements used in this card.  I didn't mention in the title that I also used the "Softly Falling" embossing folder. I had made the circle and then embossed it.  I didn't want a 1/4 sheet of embossed card stock.  Though when I think about it, sometime down the road I'll be embossing a small piece again.  Oh well.  LOL

For this card I used a folded half-sheet of Perfect Plum card stock.  I cut it in half on the short side, which means this card opens at the bottom.  

I cut a square of Whisper White card stock 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" and the top square was cut 3" x 3".  

I die cut a scalloped circle using Perfect Plum card stock and layered it behind the white textured circle.  

I stamped the butterfly from the "Papillon Potpourri" set. The ink I used on this card is Perfect Plum. 

The words are from the "Rose Wonder" set.  I like the fonts that were used to create those words.  

I set the circle on top of the smaller square.  I let it hang over the edge a bit and I trimmed off the excess. Then I  set the squares in place using Dimensionals.  I set the main panel (that measures 4" x 5-1/4") in place with tape.  The butterfly was set in place using a trimmed Dimensional.

I found this fun layout at Arlene's "Water Dots" website.  I changed it a little but not too much, only because I didn't have the same stamps she used.  

This card was pretty simple to make.  I was able to make it in under 20 minutes.  I have a lot of cards on my blog that can be made in under 20 minutes.  Click here to see them.

A Touches of Texture July 2016 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Birthday Card

I'm still working on using up the pieces in my July 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.  I did make one of the boxes but that was all I really needed, so I'm trying to use up the pieces to create cards.  I wish Stampin' Up! had a page to go to with alternative ideas for kits you didn't enjoy as much as you thought you would.  Or like me, to make cards out of the pieces I didn't want to use.  I'd LOVE that job!!!  How fun would that be?

Anyway, onto this card.  I took one of the boxes and laid it out flat on the paper cutter.  I cut a rectangle and a triangle and I layered them with Basic Black card stock.  You can still see the score marks in the layered piece but I thought it just gave the piece a little more character.

I used the "Touches of Texture" set for the flowers.  I colored them in using markers and a blender pen.  I layered it with a piece of Basic Black card stock and I set it in place on the card with Dimensionals. 

I played around with the layout until I found one that was pleasing to my eye and this is what I ended up with.  I think it worked.  I colored in 3 "White Accents" with a Sharpie marker and added them to the left side of the card.  I used the birthday greetings from the "Petite Pairs" set.

The base of the card is Basic Black. I added a layer of Daffodil Delight (though I think it would look better if it were the other way around) and I added the Whisper White layer and finished it off from there.

I did have fun playing with these pieces.  I still have more pieces, but I think I'll save them for another day.

A couple of weeks back I had made two versions of a card.  You can see that card here.  I asked which version of the card was better.  Three people responded,  Christi, Lynn G. and Kristi K.  I am not holding the random drawing for the not so pretty card.  I didn't care for it much and I really didn't want to send it off to someone else either.  SO, I have made a new card and each of those gals will get one. A Butterfly Thinlit Better Together and Flourish Thinlits Birthday Card

I LOVE that lattice flowery looking border on the left of this card.  It's a fun to look at and fun to play with.  At first I wasn't all that fond of it because I thought it was difficult to glue in place.  But I found that if I spread some white glue on waxed paper and set the piece directly in it.  I gently pressed it into the glue.  Not too hard because I didn't want glue oozing on top of the image.  I set it in place and took a toothpick to any little bits of glue that may have oozed out.

I layered the lattice looking piece on top of a 7/8" piece of Whisper White and I layered that on top of a 1-1/8" piece of Basic Black.  

I cut out a Rose Red butterfly using the "Butterfly" thinlit.  I set it in place using Dimensionals.  I added some pearls down the center to give it a bit of glitz!!

The words are from the "Better Together" set.  And that was it. Pretty quick and simple too!!

Love You Lots Open Panel Technique Card

This is the last swap card I had received.  It was made by Deb.  This was from Terri's Tuesday Technique night swap.  I LOVE the colors she used.  

You can't see it but the hedgehogs that are from the "Love You Lots" set have "Wink of Stella" on their backs.  When the light catches it you can see the glimmer!

I love the little flowers she used in the corners. I don't know what set those are from (which usually means I don't own the set or I would tell you!!!).  She set them in place using a cut Dimensional and added a tiny little pearl to the center.

Sliding Star and Shooting Star Bee Spinner Friendship Card

Here is another card I had made for Terri's fabulous Stamping Extravaganza.  I had the privilege of demoing for her there.  These spinner cards are super easy and fun to make.

I used the curved bar for the spinner on this card. Though I do prefer the full circle one, it gets a better spin and seems to be more fun.

Here I used the Bee images.  I LOVE it that I didn't have to fussy cut each one of those little bees.  If I had there would only be 3 on the card.  After that I'm bored or my hands are tired.  But with that little bee die I could cut them out all day long!!!

I also used the "Wink of Stella" on the bees wings.  It gave them that pretty sparkle and made the wings stand out more.

For my background I used the "Softly Falling" embossing folder. I thought the background could use a little bit of texture and since the hexagon folder was retired, this was the best I could do. I do like how it looks on here.  

You can find some tips here.  It's from the full circle one but most of the steps can be used for this curved bar slider too. There's some common mistakes that are made when making these and the tips on that link will help you avoid the.

These are fun and super easy to make. Kids love to play with them too.  Okay, I love to play with them myself!!! It's fun to watch them spin.  I always test my cards to make sure they spin. I give them at least 50 spins!!!  Only because I'm having fun watching the image on the pennies spin around!

The Wilderness Awaits Masculine Open Panel Technique Card

This is one of the cards I received in Terri's Technique Tuesday swap.  It was made by Mary. She used two techniques here.  One is the "Camouflage" technique, which you can see how to make here.  And the other is the "Open Panel" technique.  You can see how to make that technique here.  

Mary also used the "Lovely as a Tree" set to make the tree line on the inside of the card. What a fun masculine card this is!

A Wild About Flowers Open Panel Technique Card

Here's a super fun technique for you.  I received this card in a swap.  Though I don't know where I put the card once I took a photo of it, so I can't tell you who made it, sorry.  Once I find out, I will be sure to edit this post to let you know.  

This technique is called "Open Panel" and it's very easy to do.  If you plan your panel just right you could use the piece you cut off for the front focal panel.  I don't usually do it that way because I like to make my focal panel a little wider than that piece I had cut off.  You can always use it for something else later.

You can find the instructions for this technique here.  I LOVE using the Decorative Series Paper for my panels.  It gives the card a nice finished look plus it adds some fun color and design to it.

A Floral Bouquet Vellum View Technique Card

What a fun and effective technique card this is.  I LOVE the vellum card stock.  It's so much thicker than the regular vellum and it's perfect for making a card with.  It's nice and firm and holds up well.

To make this fun card you just take a folded half-sheet of Vellum card stock.  

Next fold a 6" x 4" piece of card stock in half.  Decorate as desired.  The "Floral Bouquet" Decorative Series Paper was used here. When finished you will just tape the back of that card stock piece to the center of the inside of the vellum piece.  

Add some image to the front of the vellum and that's it.  It's a super easy and fun technique to do.  Plus it's got such an elegant and rich look to it too!!

I had to take 3 photos so you could see what I was talking about.  The first one is of the front of the card. The second one is the inside of the card and it's showing the front of the decorated card stock piece.  The third photo is showing the inside of that decorated card stock piece.  See, I told you it was easy.

It's also a super quick card to make, it can be done in under 20 minutes.  I have a lot of cards on my blog that can be made under 20 minutes.  Click here to see them.  

Get yourself a package of the Vellum card stock and grab some of your decorative paper out of your stash and have some fun.  It's a perfect way to use up some of that stash too! 

This card looks like a lovely birthday, thank you, get well or thinking of you card.  There's no wording referring to that on the card but it can be used for several occasions.

A Drapery Fold Technique Friendship Card

The "Drapery Fold" technique is a very fun and easy one to do.  I made one several years back and you can view it here.  You can also find the instructions to make this fun fold there as well.

This one was done at Terri's Technique Tuesday class.  I wasn't able to attend but my sister brought me home the technique cards and sheets. I especially like this technique because you can use up some of that decorative paper stash!  Plus this technique is versatile too. You can cut the paper shorter so you have space at the top for words too.  It's such a cute technique.  Find some fun decorative paper and give it a try.

For the New Two Wedding Card

Quite some time ago my sister was over and she had brought her "For the New Two" set with.  I had made a couple of cards with it and then stamped some images and tucked them in an envelope.  I was looking through this HUGE stack of envelopes and I found this image.  It was stamped in black and the leaves were colored using Garden Green and Real Red markers.  I thought I would make a card and this is what I came up with.

I used the Botanical Builder and Real Red card stock for the flower, scalloped layer and the base of the card.  The base of this card is a little different. I used a 1/4 sheet of Real Red card stock.  For the white piece, I cut a piece of Whisper White 5-1/4" x 8" and I folded it in half.  Then I textured it with the "Festive" embossing folder.  Because I had already folded the card stock, I could see where the half way mark was so I didn't go over it when embossing.

The word piece was set in place using Dimensionals.  The flower was set in place using a Pop-up Glue Dot. I added the leaved before I set the flower in place.  

This was a fun card to make and you can't go wrong with the cheeriness of red and white together!
