Baby's 1st Christmas

Today I am going to share with you an ornament I made for my granddaughter.  I had found an ornament much like this on the internet a while back and I had saved it for this very moment.  I'm not sure if the ornament I found was from last year or a couple of years ago.  I don't have a link to it and I don't know who is the original designer of it.  I do think though that it was a manufactured ornament.  I LOVED it and saved the image.

So I made this for my granddaughter and I thought I would share it with you.

The pea pod is made using polymer clay.  I poked a hole in the end with a wire so I could add beads to a longer wire and insert it in the clay once it was baked.  For me, that was the most difficult part of the ornament because I had trouble getting the wire into the clay without the beads getting gaps in them.  There was nothing to grab onto to hold the wire and I couldn't use a tool because the wire was too thin and it would bend and crimp.  That was not a good thing.  But I finally managed to get it into place and all was well with that part of it.

The baby face is also made from polymer clay.  I tried sculpting it but I am not great at sculpting realistic looking things so after several hours and many attempts I opted for a more whimsical look.  The hat and the blanket are pieces of a knitted glove.  The body part was filled in with some fiberfill and everything was glued into place.  

On the ribbon (and of course it doesn't show in this photo) I ironed on the words "Baby's 1st Christmas".  I used some iron on paper that you can put in your printer.  You print in mirror format so it's backwards on the paper but once it's ironed on it's correct.  I trimmed it very close to the words so I could get it all on the ribbon.  I tied the ribbon on and it was all done.  I did forget to mention that the polymer clay is baked.  I have a toaster oven that is used only for polymer clay.  I'm sure there is years of polymer clay film in that oven.  It can only be used for the clay.  Clay bakes at 257 F and most foods cook higher than that.  When the clay is baked at 275 F it is non toxic but at higher temperatures it isn't.  So that also includes the film inside the oven.  So it's just best to bake only the clay in this oven.  It's a designated oven!!

Festive Flurries and Frosted Finishes

Today I thought I would make a Christmas card for my mom.  I wanted to make one using the Frosted Finishes.  I just LOVE those embellishments.  

I wasn't sure where I was going with this card.  I knew what colors I wanted to use and what stamps but I wasn't clear on what was going to happen from there.

My colors here are Marina Mist, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay.  

I took each one of those colors and wet paint brush and swiped it across the center part of my card stock to get a little splash of each one.  While it was drying I worked on the snowflake.  I first cut out a piece of the glitter paper.  Then I stamped the next snowflake using the Marina Mist ink pad but stamping off once.  And with the smaller snowflake I just stamped it directly from the ink pad. I used the dies and cut each one of those out too.

I assembled them using Dimensionals.  After I assembled them I thought the ink on the 3 color splashes was dry enough so I stamped the "Christmas Greetings" from the "Warmth and Wonder" set.  I layered the pieces and that was it.  Now I need to find some verbiage for the inside and it will be ready to give to my mom!

This was a super easy card to make.  I may try to incorporate it into a Valentine's Day card in the near future.

Holiday Frame Gift

You will need to click on the photo to see a closer view of this beautiful frame stamped art!   Terri designed this and had a class on it last week and I was able to attend it.  I was SO thrilled that I was able to make one of these beautiful frames!  

I can't begin to list all of the Stampin' Up! products that are used to make this frame.  

The background is the silver metallic sheet.  Then the card stock layered piece went on top of that.  There is a piece of the silver glitter paper on top of that and then the squares were added.  

Terri had stations set up and you just went to each one and made your squares.  Then you went to another table to assemble it all.  It was SO fun.  My favorite square is the on the bottom left, the snowman made using buttons.  And then the top center one with the snowflake.  The rest are a tie for 3rd place!!!  I just love the whole frame.  What a wonderful holiday gift, isn't it?

Calm Christmas

Here is another card from Terri's fun Stamp a Stack.  I did change it just a little bit but it was more for convenience.  

We stamped the dove using Night of Navy ink on top of a piece of Very Vanilla that was cut using the Top Note die.  

Then we stamped the words on a small piece of Very Vanilla using Night of Navy ink and punched them out using the large Oval punch.  I sponged the oval but forgot to sponge the dove piece before I taped it in place.  It sure would have looked nicer if it had been sponged!.  But being the forgetful person I am, ok not so much forgetful but not very observant!  I still like the look of it though!

It's a simple card, easy to make and you can whip up a lot of them in no time if you are making them for your Christmas cards this year.  Speaking of which, I need to get going on mine.

Color Me Christmas Fries

Yup, you read that right.  "Color Me Christmas Fries!".  There's lots of fun things you can do with a fry box!  I saw one someone had posted that had the Christmas Sixlets in them.  How cute was that?  They stood up like fries would in a box.  Though you'd either have to have a smaller fry box or a whole bag of Sixlets to get them to all stand up and not have the box look like you skimped on them.  I just find it easier to fill a sandwich bag with candy and tie it closed.  Then set it in the fry box and allow the candy to settle in the bag and box at the same time.  And this is what you get!  

You can get your free pattern to the fry box right here. It's from Split Coast Stampers so you know it's a pattern you can trust.  It's been tested a lot of times by many stampers!

I made my fry box using Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I found a sample of this fry box at Pink Buckaroo Designs.  

Once the box was put together I added a piece of decorative paper from the "Season of Style" DSP stack.  Because the paper isn't long enough to go around the whole box, I cut it off at the back edge of the sides of the box.  Who looks at the back of the box anyway?  All the fun stuff is on the front!  I glued the DSP on and set it aside to setup while I worked on the tree.

The tree is from the "Color Me Christmas" set.  I stamped the tree using StazOn ink and then colored it in with markers.  I used Old Olive for the tree, Crumb Cake for the trunk and Daffodil Delight for the star.  I didn't color the bulbs in because I was going to use the Candy Dots for the lights.  Before I put the lights on I used the oval die and cut out the tree.  I also glued the oval in place.  I wanted to make sure it wouldn't lift off.  If I had taped it, it may have lifted off because the fry box is not flat.  Once the oval was set up I filled a sandwich bag with candies and I tied the bag off using Baker's Twine and it was all placed inside the box.  As simple as that.  I would LOVE to have the time to make a whole bunch of these for the family for Christmas eve but I need 17 of them!!!  So I think I will be shelving that idea until next year or the year after!!!  LOL

This was a fun project to make.  It's quick too.  But then again I was only making one!

Color Me Christmas Circle Card

Ok, for starters Blogger is giving me a bit of trouble today.  I can not get my images to line up under each other.  And I'm curious as to what this is going to look like once I hit the "publish" icon!  But the main thing is that I got the card done and posted, right?  

Today's card comes to you again from Jenn at StampWithJen.com  I had found this card by doing a Google search of the "Color Me Christmas" set.  I didn't find it on her blog so that may be why I can't locate it very easy.

And once again I did change the card a bit. I used different decorative paper.  I used what I had on hand.  My paper came from the "Season of Style" DSP stack.  I still have a lot of it left and need to start using it up!

I also added Washi tape to my card.  I also made my card an extended length one too.  I added a piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside panel that I stamped on (before taping it in place).  After the piece was set in place then I added the Washi tape across the inside.  I've used it SO much and still have lots left!!!  That stuff goes a long way! 

The "Deck the Halls" and inside words are from the "Christmas Messages" set. I had not gotten a new Christmas word set in a very long time.  I was due!!!  I used Cherry Cobbler for the words and the card stock is Crumb Cake.  

The reindeer was colored in using markers.

Oh and I added a little silver glitter paper piece to the front with a rhinestone in the center of it.  I used the little flower punch.  I thought it could pass for a tiny snowflake if I put a rhinestone in the center of the glitter paper.  It worked, right?  LOL  Well, it worked for me!

I thought this was a very fun card to make.  I had not played with that die in a long time.  I'm hoping to find more of my stamp images that will fit in that space.  I LOVE making those cards.  It's a nice change.

Color Me Christmas

I have hardly used this "Color Me Christmas" set.  I thought it was so cute (and it is) but I have not played with it much at all.  I've been SO busy playing with all the other sets I have.  And speaking of busy, I haven't even started my Christmas cards!  UGH!  In years past I've usually had them done by now and mailed by the 1st of December.  As the years go on I get later and later and later with them!  Edited 12-10-13: I found the gal who originally made this card.  Her name is Jenn and she has a blog StampwithJen.  But I searched back quite a few posts and didn't find this card on there.  I made it through sometime in her October posts.  But anyway, it came from her blog and I just wanted to share that with you.  

Enough about that.  Today's card comes to you from the internet (of course).  I found the card here.  The original card has a red tag behind the green oval.  I didn't have that die or punch so I had to omit it, which is ok because the card is still cute without it.  

I added a few of the Candy Dots embellishments to the upper right corner.  I just thought that corner could use a little something.

The Washi tape seems to fill the background nicely.  I'm just amazed at how far those rolls of tape go!  I've used them on a lot of cards and some of my stampers have used them too and yet there is still some left on the roll!  I want to use it up before Christmas though.  It would be a first if I do!!!  Wish me luck on that endeavor!  LOL

Santa's List Christmas Card

I found this layout on the internet somewhere and I had to reboot my computer and lost the place where I had found it.  So if you know the designer of this card, please let me know.  

I did change the bottom right corner.  The words were from the set and done in an oval along with a scalloped oval.  When I stamped some images of this Santa from my sister's set I didn't stamp any words at all.  Silly me!  I think I was just more interested in stamping the Santa in a few colors that  I would use.

I do like this card and that Santa is just adorable.

The words I used here were from the "Petite Pairs" set.  I used the decorative paper from the "Season of Style" pack.  The Dotted folder was used on the Whisper White background.  

The colors of card stock used here are Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.  Cherry Cobbler ink was used for Santa and the words.  It's just as simple as that!

Wetlands Masculine Card with the Painters Tape Technique

My card today was created by one of the gals in Terri's Technique Night group.  She forgot to add her name to the inside of the card.  Oops!  So I can't give her credit at this time.

She used the Painter's Tape technique for this card.  You can click here to be taken to the post where I have the instructions to do this fun and unique technique.  

The goose image is from the "Wetlands" set.  One of my favorite masculine sets.

The base of this card is Early Espresso and the next layer is a texture piece of Basic Gray.  If you look at the left of the card you can see that I ruined it by touching it right after putting hand lotion on.  UGH!  I may just take my VersaMark pad and add some long grass to the gray card stock to help that mark blend in.  I will wait until tomorrow just in case it soaks in and goes away.  

This is such a pretty card and I hope I find out who made it!

Frosted Finishes Embellishments Necklace and Earrings

I saw these somewhere on the internet and decided to make a pair for a sweet friend Terri.  I work at The Garden of Beads in Anoka and I bought a couple of feet of chain before I left work on Wednesday.  When I got home I added a jump ring to the Embellishment and put it on the chain.  Then I added jump rings to the ends of the chain and a clasp.

For the earrings I added jump rings to the Embellishment and and attached it to a pair of pierced stud earrings.  I didn't want to do ear wires because I wasn't sure that Terri wore wires. Either way the earrings would be pretty!  After getting it all put together and on the display bust for a photo I wanted to keep them myself!  I still have some embellishments left (I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to stuff like that - BUT I'm trying hard to use up my stuff now.  So another pair of earrings and necklace would help use up 3 more pieces!!! LOL  I could probably make one more pair and sell them at next year's craft fair!  That would leave me with one embellishment left!  Hmmm, maybe I can come up with a card for it between now and Christmas!

Warmth & Wonder Christmas Pocket Card

 Today's card was inspired by a card I saw by Wendy at WeeBeeStampin4Fun.  I changed mine a bit.  I didn't have the snowman nor the wording so I found some words in the "Christmas Messages" set and I used the tree from the "Warmth & Wonder" set.  And the words are from the "Petite Pairs" set.

The card stock is Coastal Cabana, Whisper White and Bermuda Bay.

The tree was stamped using Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush for the bulbs.  

The wording in the circle was punched out using the 1-1/4" punch.

Then the Coastal Cabana layer was punched out using the 1-3/8" punch and then the Bermuda Bay was punched out with the Circle Scallop punch.

The words on the inside are from the "Christmas Messages" set.  The words on this card are all done using black StazOn.  

I have never made one of these pocket cards before and I though it was a lot of fun!

Joyful Christmas

Today I'm going to share with you another card from Terri's extremely fabulous Stamp A Stack.  

The stamps used here are "Joyful Christmas" and "Music Notes" wheel.

The flower was stamped using black StazOn on Real Red card stock and then cut out.  The leaf was stamped using black StazOn on Garden Green card stock and it was cut out too.

The "Oval Accent" die was used and then the "Music Notes" wheel was used on top of it.  I think my music got a little crooked but the flower hides most of it!  I added 7 pearls in the center of the flower.  

This was a very quick card to make.  Cutting out the flower didn't take very long at all. But I don't think I would make a bunch of these.  I'm SO spoiled by the dies now that I am not a big fan of cutting anymore!

Caught in Crystal Technique Zoo Review

At the last Technique Night that Terri had the group of gals have a card swap from the techniques taught the prior month.  The two techniques last month were the "Caught in Crystal" and the "Painter's Tape".  I actually had time to participate in the swap.  You can see my card here.  I came home with some fabulous cards.  Only one of the gals played with the Caught in Crystal technique.  All of the rest, me included did the Painter's Tape one. 

This card was done by Mary.  Thank you Mary for letting me post your fabulous card on my blog.  It's a bit hard to see but there is Dazzling Diamonds caught in the crystal too.  It's such a pretty card, my photo doesn't do it justice.

This is a fun technique to do.  A bit messy but fun!

Festive Flurry Stamps and Die Plus Frosted Finishes Embellishments

WOW, isn't this a beauty?  I found it at the blog of Glenda Calkins.  I did change the bottom word part.  I didn't have the same words she used but in using what I had I made it work!

This card caught my eye on Pinterest and I knew I just had to make it.  I got to play with my silver foil paper and the glitter paper too!  Oh and also the "Frosted Finishes" embellishments.  I also saw somewhere on the net that someone made earrings and a necklace using these embellishments.  I think I'm going to give that a try too (as soon as I find my spool of neck chain!!).  

This was a very fun card to make and it's SO pretty too.
