You've Got This, Southern Serenade, Birthday Card

The "You've Got This" set is going to be retiring at the end of May.  I liked playing with this set. I have made a lot of cards using it so I won't be too disappointed when it retires.  I don't care for fussy cutting and if I have to fussy cut, I do like it to be simple.  The stem of this flower is not fun but I stuck with it and toughed it out!! LOL  

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. 

I took a 2" x 5" piece of the olive and silver stripped foil "Sweet Soiree" Decorative Series Specialty Paper (DSSP).  The Specialty word is added because these papers have silver foil on them.  I was going to layer this DSSP but I decided to just leave it as it was.  I wanted to make this card very simple and yet elegant looking.

Like I said, I had fussy cut the flower and then colored it with Calypso Coral Blends markers. I colored the leaves and stem using the Old Olive Blends markers.  And the center is colored using Daffodil Delight Blends. I LOVE those markers, they allow you to quick scribble, or for a better more artistic choice of words, scrubbed in the base color.  Then you come along with the second color and add the darker spots.  So quick and easy.  I set the flower in place using Dimensionals and Dimensional pieces.

The words are from the "Southern Serenade" set.  I stamped them using black Memento ink.  And there you have it.  A card you can stamp, color and assemble all in under 20 minutes.  I have LOTS of cards on my blog that you can make in under 20 minutes.  Click here to be taken to them.  There's over 1500 cards there!!!

Perennial Birthday, Butterflies Thinlits, Birthday Card

Saying goodbye to the "Butterflies" thinlits.  I have used this die SO much and still love using it. I may hang on to it for a while longer, unless something better is coming out.  I can only imagine what is replacing it is better.  

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 4-1/4" piece of retiring Wisteria Wonder card stock.  I textured it with the "Garden Trellis" embossing folder. I knew I had it. A few days ago I had to use a retired folder because I couldn't find this one and I almost talked myself into believing that I hadn't purchased it, just wanted it really bad!!! LOL  But I did purchase it and I used it here!!

I cut a 4-3/4" x 1-3/4" piece of retiring Elegant Eggplant card stock. On top of that is a scrap piece of the "Delightful Daisy" Decorative Series Paper (DSP).  I cut that strip 4-1/2" x 1-1/2". 

The words are from the "Perennial Birthday" set.  I stamped it using Elegant Eggplant ink on a 1" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I layered it with a 3-3/4" x 1-1/4" piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock.  

I took a half a paper doily and taped it to the back side of the DSP panel.  I taped it in place on top of the card.  Then I added the word panel using Dimensionals.  

I die cut the butterfly using Elegant Eggplant card stock.  I set it in place using Dimensional pieces.  I added 3 pearls down the center and one little pearl on the bottom left of the word panel.  Only because I had ink on the edge of the rubber stamp and it transferred to the card stock. I didn't want to make a new one so I covered the mark.  Or...., it just looked pretty there. Ya, that's it. It just looked pretty there!! LOL

Petal Palette, Birthday Card, Impossible Card Technique, Weekend Project

 Actually, this "Impossible Card" technique is not impossible and it's pretty easy.  It just has a lot of pieces and a lot of snipping.  But once you make one you will be able to make many more with ease.  I found the instructions on YouTube. I will provide you the link.  I had found two. One had great measurements and the other showed more embellishing.  The first one also used a long strip and the second one used shorter strips. I went with the shorter strips. They are called stabilizers. 

There are a couple of important things to remember.  When making the top layers for the decorative paper, you do need to pay attention to which side you are cutting and which side you want on your card.  And you also need to pay attention to the size item you put on the pop-up part.  It has to close and fit in the envelope.  Mine hangs over just a little but not enough so it won't slip into the envelope easily.  Other than that I didn't do a lot of thinking once I knew what I was doing. I did make my template first and then played the video again to assemble it.  Now I was not paying attention to the orientation of the base of my card so my wider part is on the right.  It's okay, I just had to make sure I cut my other pieces the right direction so the would look and lay right on my card.  

I found the measurements and instructions here.  And I found this video to have better embellishment ideas.

I followed the measurements in the first video and my strips measured 1-1/4" x 3-1/2" for the card stock and 1-1/8" x 3-3/8" for the decorative paper.  You can make those strips any size you want, just as long as they go from one side to another.  Without them the card wouldn't lay straight, it would be very loose feeling.  You will see what I mean when you make your template.  

And on the focal panel, you can use just words on there if you like and embellish the card more.  You do not want to put anything on there that is too large, as I described above.  

For my card I used the Decorative Series Paper (DSP) from the "Delightful Daisy" pack.  I had one of those lacy pieces sitting on my worktable from some previous die cutting. I had used the sticky sheet so it was now a sticker. I removed the backing and stuck the piece to the back of my card.  I was thinking it probably should have been made using Soft Suede, because my layers were Soft Suede but then I realized it wouldn't have shown up as nice as the black does. 

On the front I used the flower from the "Petal Palette" bundle. I colored the flowers with Calypso Coral markers. And the leaves with the Old Olive markers.  Same with the bird.  I set the flowers in place using Dimensionals.  I am not sure where the words were from, they were sitting on my worktable and I thought I would just use them. I was going to use the "thank you" that came with the set but they were a bit long. They did fit but I wanted something more short and sweet looking and the oval piece I had found worked perfectly.  I set the words in place with Dimensionals too.  Everything else was just taped flat. 

To mail this I will lay the flower piece flat, with the flowers showing.  When the envelope is opened that panel will pop up.  You can add a white piece to the back of that panel to write on. Or you can add a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece to the bottom and write on the back of that.  I like the idea of a white piece on the bottom of the card. It covers the openings and hides the strip things that look a little messy on the back.  But it's all in what you want to do, it's your card!!! I just think it's a cool looking card!! Something fun and new!

Thoughts and Prayers, Sympathy Card

Here is a set that is soon to retire. It's been around a very long time. I have not had to use it a lot but it was a nice go to set for a quick card. Unlike birthdays, you know when they are coming so you don't often have to make a quick card but sympathy cards are different.  I'm hoping that what replaces it will be just as nice or better!

To make this card I used a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I cut two strips 1-5/8" x 3-7/8" using the "Fresh Florals" Decorative Series Paper with the 2018-2018 in colors.  I cut two strips of Tranquil Tide card stock 1-3/4" x 4". I taped those two layers together.  Then I taped those layers to the card front. 

Next I cut a 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White and I stamped the image on it using Tranquil Tide ink.  The words are from the same set and I also stamped them using Tranquil Tide ink.  I cut a 3-7/8" x 2-5/8" piece of Tranquil Tide for the layer.  I taped those two pieces together. 

I tied a ribbon around the card front and knotted it.  I added Dimensionals to the image layer and set it in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  A pretty quick and simple sympathy card.  Though the flowers are pretty enough to convert this into a thank you, get well, birthday, Mother's Day or a thinking of you card.

Moon Baby, Baby Card

I had loved this "Moon Baby" set since the first time I laid eyes on it. And it's going to be retiring.  That makes me sad, it was such a cute baby set.

I had found this card on a board that my demonstrator Terri has.  I thought this card would be fun to make.  The original card had a different doily.  It was one of those that were white on one side and vanilla on the other.  I just used the doilies that are in the current catalog. I also changed the color of the lamb. The original one had the body of the lamb colored in and it just looked off to me.  The bunny on the original was a bit more pink too.  So this is how I colored them in.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the images (the come all on one block) using black Memento ink.  The piece of Whisper White they were stamped on measures 1-7/8" x 3".  I layered Daffodil Delight behind it.  That piece measured 2" x 3-1/8".  

I cut a doily in half and taped it to the bottom part of the image panel.  I cut 3 bumps of a doily and set it in place on the upper right of the image panel.  I taped those layers in place on the card front.  Then I stamped the "Twinkle, twinkle, little star..." words.  I added the star and colored it in with the Daffodil Delight marker.  The animals were colored in using Blends pens.  I still have some Blendabilities pens and I may have used them too.  I just didn't want to use ink and a blender pen.  I stamped the "Do you know how loved you are" words on the inside. I don't often add words to the inside but when the outside words end with "..." you kind of need to put something on the inside!!!

I didn't have any current Daffodil Delight ribbon, so I used some retired stuff.  I need to start using that more.  Those of you who CASE (Copy And Study Everything) my cards for swaps that require current items know what to use!!!  So I will be using a bit more retired ribbons on my cards in the near future. But I will suggest what can be used that is current, if that helps you out.  I just need to get rid of some of my stash without giving it all away or selling it for pennies on the dollar.  SO that's my story on the retired ribbon use!!! LOL

I'm looking forward to making a few more "Moon Baby" cards before the end of May.

Delightful Daisy, Rose Wonder, Birthday Card

It's not a thank you card!!!  Don't fall over!!! LOL I know I've made a lot of thank you cards lately because I was in need of them.  I might need a couple more but I don't need them right away. I now need to sit down and write out the thank you cards. 

This was a very simple and fun card to make. I had a scrap piece of the daisy paper from the "Delightful Daisy" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  My DSP measures 1-7/8" x 5-1/4".  The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy card stock. I taped the DSP strip to the card base about 1" from the fold.  This card opens from the bottom, so the fold is on the top. 

I cut two Whisper White strips.  The top one is 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" and the bottom one is 5-1/4" x 1-5/8".  I cut two pieces of Daffodil Delight card stock.  The top one measures 5-1/4" x 1-3/8" and the bottom piece was cut 5-1/4" x 1-3/4".  

I stamped the words from the "Rose Wonder" set using Night of Navy ink.  They were stamped on the larger, bottom piece of Whisper White piece.  

I stamped two flowers using Night of Navy ink. I punched them out.  I stamped a scrap piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and using Crushed Curry ink for the center of the flower. I punched that piece out using a 3/4" circle punch.  

Now for the assembly.  I curled the petal of the flowers using my bone folder. Then I taped the two flowers together and then the flower center. I used Wink of Stella on the center of the flower and set it aside to dry.

I taped the Daffodil Delight pieces to their corresponding Whisper White pieces.  I set those pieces in place using Dimensionals. The smaller/thinner one on the top and the wider one with the words on the bottom.  I set the flower in place using a Dimensional.  And that was it.  

This was a very fun, quick and easy card to make.  And it wasn't a thank you card.  

And the best part of this card is, I made two of them!!!  Yup, one for me and one for some lucky reader!!!  Just leave a comment, you don't have to say much, I'm not groping for compliments.  You can just say "pick me" or "I want it", or whatever comes to your mind. Petal Palette, Flourishing Phrases, Thank You Card, 2018 Occasions Catalog

Okay, as you are looking at this card, please imagine the background being done with the "Garden Trellis" embossing folder.  Either I have misplaced mine or I don't own it.  Though I thought I had it.  Obviously I need to clean up my workroom!!!  So with that said, I'll proceed to tell you how I made this pretty card.  Yup, still on my quest to make my thank you cards.  I did make 12 of these. Well, I will have 12 later today after I finish this post!!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is the Basic Black "Garden Trellis" texture. That piece measures 3-1/2" x 4-3/4". 

I stamped and die cut the flowers from the "Petal Palette" set.  I colored the flowers with the Red Blends pens and the leaves with the Old Olive Blends pens. 

I die cut an oval that is about 2-1/2" long. I stamped the thank you from the "Flourishing Phrases" set using black Memento ink.  I set the oval in place using Dimensionals and I set the flowers in place using snail tape on the inner part and Dimensionals on the outer.  And that was it. It's a pretty quick and simple card to make.  Yet it's SO pretty!!!

Truly Tailored, Guy Greetings, Rose Wonder, Masculine Card, Father's Day Card

I wanted to play with the "Truly Tailored" set a few more times before it is retired.  I thought it was a fun set and a great guy set, but it will not be found in the new 2018-2019 catalog.  It makes me sad because there are not very many masculine sets as it is and this one was quick and easy to whip up cards with.  So I need to play with it a bit more in the next month plus.

This card was found on Pinterest.  I added the greetings to it and I changed the wording in the upper part as well. 

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White, which should have been Very Vanilla.  On top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Tranquil Tide.  I scored that piece every 1/4". 

I took some scrap pieces of the "True Gentleman" Decorative Series Paper (DSP) and cut them into 2", 1-1/2" and 1" strips.  I didn't measure how long they were but they do need to be at least 5" long.  My middle piece was not long enough and you can't see the ribbon cut on the end.  But it's still nice looking and I'm thinking that had I not said anything, you would not have noticed!!! LOL  I taped those strips in place on the scored piece and then I trimmed them across the top.

Next I stamped the "to a classy kind of guy"image from the "Truly Tailored" set using Night of Navy ink. I fussy cut around the image closer to the inked lines.  I did that because I wanted the Night of Navy card stock layer to show.  I stamped and fussy cut a bow tie using Tranquil Tide ink.  I set it in place with cut pieces of Dimensionals.  I used my Night of Navy marker on the center of the bow tie.

I took an 8" piece of the corduroy ribbon and taped it in place on the card.  I set the word piece over it using Dimensionals. I added the Dimensionals to the ends and left the center open, I didn't want them stuck to the ribbon.

The "Happy Father's Day" is from the soon to be retiring "Guy Greetings" set. I stamped them in Night of Navy and die cut them using the die from the "Rose Wonder" bundle.  I sponged the edges and set them in place using Dimenisonals. 

I taped all the layers together and I added a piece of Very Vanilla on the inside for writing on and the card was done. It was a pretty simple card to make, even with the fussy cutting!!!

Petal Palette, Daisy Delight, Thank You Card, 2018 Occasions Catalog

Still making thank you cards. Though most of the cards I have been making can be made into birthday, get well, thinking of you, Mother's Day, etc.  But I am in need of a LOT of thank you cards at the moment.  I found this one on Pinterest.  I did change the card a little and I do like how it looks.  

This was a pretty quick and simple card to make and I do plan on making some more of these. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake card stock.  On top of that is a 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Basic Black.  On top of that is a 5-1/2" x 3-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.

I cut a 3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Basic Black for the strip.  On top of that strip I had die cut a the lacy looking strip from the "Petal Palette" dies. I cut it using the sticky paper so it became a sticker to set in place.

The flowers are from the "Petal Palette" set. I die cut them and colored them with the Blends markers.  There's some new ones coming in the new catalog. I'm anxious to see what the colors will be!!!  I set the flowers in place using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Daisy Delight" set.  I stamped them using black Memento ink.  And that was it. Pretty quick and easy.

Petal Palette, Thank You Card, Telescope Panel Stamping Technique, 2018 Occasions Catalog

I have not made too many cards using the "Telescope Panel" technique. It's easy enough to do.  I had always wondered how it was done. I had done this technique several years ago and it all made sense.  There is a video that explains the technique here.  I found this card on Pinterest.  I changed the color and I didn't add the bow or the gems because I'm trying to keep the mailing costs down.

I only made one of these.  As I was making it, I thought about making two but then I remembered why I didn't like to do this technique.  It was difficult to see where to color. I struggled with the flowers in a few places but I did manage to get them all the correct colors.  It is much easier if it's done monochromatic.  

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  My card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.  I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and a 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock. I used removable tape and centered the smaller piece to the larger piece.  Then I stamped the flower images, crossing over the pieces of card stock.  Once done I removed the smaller piece and cut a 2-3/8" x 3-3/8" piece of Basic Black for a layer. I colored in the images using Blends markers.  

I lined up the smaller image on top of what was left of the image on the larger piece and taped it in place.  Then I taped those layers to the card base and that was it.  Like I said, it was easy enough to do but for me, the coloring was the difficult part.  

I do like how it turned out and it goes in the pile of cards to be sent out soon!!  I need to find easier ones so I can make several of them at a time!

Petal Palette, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Thank You Card

Here's another fun card I found on Pinterest.  I loved the background paper.  Mine is different from the original card in that I did not use the ribbon on the front because I didn't have any and I used the stamps in the set for the background.  

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Pool Party card stock.  The next layer is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  On top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Whisper White card stock and on top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of vellum.  I actually made two of these cards because I had a half-sheet of Whisper White card stock sitting out. There are two smaller flower images in the set and I set them in place on one clear block and stamped all over that half-sheet. I trimmed that paper to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  I colored my flowers in using Soft Suede ink and a blender pen and the Pool Party Blends marker.  The leaves were colored in with Garden Green and a blender pen.

I die cut that lacy looking piece using Soft Suede card stock.  I cut a 1-1/4" x 3-5/8" piece of Pool Party card stock and punched it with the Triple Banner punch.  I think that is what that punch is called.

I die cut the largest stitched circle using Whisper White card stock.  I stamped and die cut the flower and bird.  

I colored the flower using the Pool Party Blends pens. I colored the leaves in using Garden Green ink and a blender pen.  I colored the bird in using Soft Suede and a blender pen.

To assemble my card I taped the stamped and colored Whisper White piece to the Basic Black piece.  Then I taped the vellum on top of that.  I taped all of those onto the Pool Party card base. I taped the banner piece 1" up from the bottom of the card base. Then I taped the circle in place. I set the flower in place so I could see how much space I had to stamp. I stamped the words from the soon to be retiring "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I'm REALLY going to miss that set. It covered every occasion.  After stamping, I set the circle in place at a 1/2" from the left side and 1-1/4" up from the bottom.  Then I set that lacy piece in place. I had die cut mine on sticky paper so it became a sticker. It's too difficult to glue or tape it in place. Next I set the flower in place using Dimensionals and the bird was set in place with Dimensionals. I was careful to only put the Dimensionals on the tail and far left body of the bird.  And that was it.  I REALLY like this card.  I have not played with vellum in a long time and I really like the look of it. I have some REALLY busy decorative paper that could be muted using vellum.  Wheels are churning!!! LOL

Petal Palette, Thank You Card, 2018 Occasions Catalog

Yup, I'm still working on the ton of thank you cards I need to make.  I don't want to make them all the same or I will get bored with them and no one will get a card!!!  I have made some duplicates, I have to or I won't get the cards out for a couple of month!!!

So, onto this pretty card. I can't take total credit for it, I found it on Pinterest and you can see it here.  I changed it up a little. I added the panel on the left and the words are different.

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. I also layered my Decorative Series Papers (DSP) with Basic Black card stock.  The piece next to the card base was cut 3-3/4" X 5-1/2".  The DSP layer was cut 3-5/8" x 5-1/2".  The strip of Basic Black was cut 1-5/8" x 4-5/8" and the strip of DSP was cut 1-1/2" x  4-1/2".  The larger layers were just taped in place, no Dimensionals added there.  I did add Dimensionals to the long panel.

I die cut the second largest stitched circle using Whisper White card stock.  I also die cut a branch, and after stamping the bird and flower from the "Petal Palette" set I die cut them too.  I stamped the words and die cut them using the shape that came with the set/bundle.  

I colored the bird in using the Berry Burst marker and a blender pen.  I used Soft Suede and the blender pen for the top part of the bird.  The flower was stamped off once using Berry Burst ink and then die cut.  

I set the branch in place using a couple of Dimensionals.  They are placed where the bird sits and also where the flower sits.  It's such a thin branch and you don't want the Dimensionals to show.

The words were set in place with a Dimensional on the right side and just taped on top of the panel on the left side.  I added a tiny pearl to the center of the flower and that was it.

I think it's a very pretty card. It's got a lot of parts to it and that's why I only made one. I need to find a card that I can quick whip up several at one time.

Oh, I almost forgot.  The DSP is from the "Fresh Florals" 12" x 12" in color paper pack.

Matchbook Candy Holder, Flower Shop, Petal Palette, Weekend Project

I have not made a matchbook candy holder in a while.  These are very fun and super quick to make.  Well, depending on how much you embellish the front!!  But the holder itself is super quick to make.

For mine I took a piece of Powder Pink card stock cut 5-1/4" x 2-1/8".  You will need to score it at 2", 4-1/4" and 4-3/4".  Fold the 1/4" scored piece and fold the next score.  You are folding these two scored lines over each other. See the photo below.  You will be slipping your Lifesaver under the folded scored parts and stapling it in place. I like to use the tiny stampers because you have to really work that candy to the other end to get the regular sized ones to not crush your candy.  Once the candy is stapled in place you are ready to decorate the front any way you'd like.

For mine I used the soon to be retiring "Flower Shop" set. I stamped my flower using Rose Red ink on Rose Red card stock.  I punched the flower out.  I also punched out a leaf using Garden Green card stock.  I took my stylus and curled the leaves of the flower.  Then I took the 3/4" circle punch and punched out a Crushed Curry circle for the center of the flower. I set the flower center in place using a glue dot.  I set the flower in place using a Dimensional. I stuck the leaf to the Dimensionals before I stuck the piece in place.  

I stamped the "thank you" from the "Petal Palette" set using black Memento ink.  I punched it out using the "Classic Label" punch.  I set it in place using glue dots.  Dimensionals just didn't seem to work well there.  And that was it.  Ready for gift giving.  I am thinking of making some of these with a Christmas theme this year for the mail carrier, cashiers I encounter, bank tellers, etc.  It's always fun to brighten up someone's day with something so simple as this.

These make a great customer and hostess appreciation gift, teacher's gifts, rewards in excellence gifts, Easter, Get Well, Halloween, almost any occasion you can think of! I made a Christmas holiday one, you can see it by clicking here.
