A Holiday Home Christmas Card

Today I thought I would play with the "Holiday Home stamp set and dies.  I LOVE it that I didn't have to cut out the house but I did have to cut the snowman and the wreath.  The wreath was very tiny and more difficult to cut than the tiny snowman.  UGH!!! Those dies have spoiled me!!!

I found this card here at Glitter Thumbs blog.  

I think on the original the house was colored in with Blendabilities.  I didn't have that color group so I used Cherry Cobbler ink and a blender pen.

I drew the snow line in by hand and then set the house and the snowman in place using Dimensionals for the house and pieces of Dimensionals for the snowman.  And I used even tinier pieces of Dimensionals for the wreath.  

I stamped snowflakes all over the background and then I used Crystal Effects and glitter on them. I also glittered up the ground, the roof of the house, the top of the chimney, the top part of the snowman hat, and the right side of the bottom ball of the snowman.  I did not let it dry before I took the photo, so it may not look as sparkly as it does in real life!

This was a fun card to make and I did have fun playing with this set.  Now I'm off to give this set another try and hopefully I can be original with it!!

Festival of Trees Christmas Card

I took a few days off to regroup and try to get some things done around this holiday!!!  I did find a fun card to recreate. I saw this by Lisa at la Stamper.   

I thought it was a fun looking card.  I made a few minor changes.  I also ruined the card by not getting the words straight.   And the card was going together so well.  UGH!  I suppose I could fix it using the oval punch and oval scallop.  

First I stamped the snowflakes on using Smoky Slate ink.  Then I added the Washi tape.  Next I stamped the tree using Old Olive ink, and then I punched it out with the matching tree punch.  I set the tree in place using Dimensionals.  It was as simple as that!!  

I layered the piece using Smoky Slate card stock and set that layer in place on top of a folded half sheet of Whisper White.

Happy Thanksgiving to You!

Today I would like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  I will not be posting a card or project today.  I am taking the day off.  We will be spending time with our son, his wife and our beautiful granddaughter.  This year she gets to eat people food! She's such a mess when she eats!!  This promises to be fun and entertaining!!  She's such a doll and we love spending time with her.

A Wondrous Wreath Christmas Card

Today I thought I would put a card together using the wreath from the "Wondrous Wreath" set.  I don't have this set but I did have an extra wreath made up from a stamping event a while back.  I don't recall why I had an extra one but I did and I hung onto it.  Just like I hung onto the "Merry" from the "Expressions" Thinlit dies.  I had that merry stuck to my laminating machine since last winter.  I didn't want to toss it.  I remembered how difficult it was to remove it from the die.  I didn't have plans for making more so I just wanted to preserve that one for as long as I could.  And I did!  About a year!!!

When this wreath was made I remember stamping the lighter green and then taking another stamp in the set and stamping the darker green.  Then the berries were stamped on top of it all.  This wreath set has tabs so you can get the images lined up right.  The bow is separate.  You stamp it and use the die to cut it out.  That was set in place using Dimensionals.  

My background is a Cuttlebug Snowflake folder.  I found it at JoAnn's and just had to buy it.  I am such a snowflake freak!!!  It was just too adorable to pass up.

The "Merry" is stuck in place because I had run my card stock through my Xyron machine to put sticky stuff on the back side.  I can't imagine trying to glue that thing in place.  What a mess that would be.  

I layered the card with Real Red card stock and that is about it.  It's a simple enough card to make.  There are other words that are in the current Occasions catalog if you wanted to make a card like this without any retired or contraband items!!!

Let it Snow Beaded Christmas Bulb

Today I'm going to share with you my latest creation.  I designed this beaded Christmas bulb.  I am planning on making them for Christmas gifts for my family.  I have two left to make.  I needed a dozen of them!!!  When I was in Portland in October, I made a lot of the belly bands and then when I got home I did the top and the bottom parts.  That is the quick part.  The bulb is easy to make, it just takes a lot of time to do.  I even beaded some of the belly band components on the airplane!  

I also have the pattern all set up for sale in my web store.  My hopes are to get enough patterns to have a book made!  I've been busy beading and creating the step by step pattern. Sometimes I feel like I'm stretching my time to thinly lately!!  And the holidays are upon us too!!! UGH!!!!

I gave my younger sister her bulb today.  I really don't want to wait until Christmas eve to give the bulbs.  I want them to have them early so they can hang them on their trees.

I really think I should also make one for myself!!!  I do like the pattern and this photo does not do the bulb justice.  There's a lot of sparkle to this bulb.  The Rose Montees on it don't even show up well.  They look like black or gray dots. UGH!  I'll try to get a better photo.  Maybe once the tree goes up I can get a photo of one hanging on it with the pretty branches and lights in the background!  It sounds like it will be a pretty photo, doesn't it?  LOL

A Get Your Santa On Christmas Card

As I look at this card, I now wish I had not cut out the Santa.  I am not a fan of fussy cutting anyway but I thought that was what I needed to do.  But now that I see the background, I'm not caring so much for how it turned out.  But what's done is done! I do however, like the words on the side. Those are from the "Petite Pairs" set.  I've used the top wording but never the bottom one before.  It's kind of nice when you use all the stamps in a set, isn't it?  I don't do that very often at all.

The Santa is from the "Get Your Santa On" set.  It's the first time I've used the set.  There's some other cute and fun images in the set that I'm anxious to play with too.

My background paper is from the "Trim the Tree" paper pack.  I thought it would be a festive looking paper to add to my background.  The base of my card is Whisper White and the layer is Garden Green.  There is also some Cherry Cobbler card stock in the layers.   

The words and the Santa layer were set in place using Dimensionals.

I colored in the Santa with markers after I had cut him out.  I have tried to color and then cut but sometimes my fingers would pick up the ink while I was cutting and I would have a mess, so I now cut and then color!

This was a fun card to make and I especially like the words on the left side!  This card, even with the fussy cutting, did not take long at all to make!!!

Ornamental Pine Gate Fold Latch Card

Today I am going to share with you a card that Terri had for her latest Technique Tuesday.  This technique is called the "Gate Fold Latch".  I have never made one before.  And much to my surprise, they are not as difficult as I thought they would be.  Plus they are a really cool looking card too!!!

To make this card you score a piece of 4-1/4" x 11" card stock just 2-3/4" from each end and fold towards the center. 

She used the ovals and scalloped oval to make this card.  You take the scalloped oval and the the oval that is just a bit smaller and tun it through your Big Shot.  Then take the 2nd largest Framelit and run it through the Big SHot to create a matte for your stamped image.  

Next take the 3rd from the largest oval and cut out your card stock to stamp your image on.  

With the card closed, adhere the Scallop frame to just the top half of the card on the top flap.  Adhere the stamped image to the matte and then adhere the matte just to the bottom of the card only.  

The bottom matte slides over the stamped image and when the card is closed it looks like a large frame around the image.  I am going to be showing my sister how to make this and I'll let you know how it goes.

A Work of Art Festival of Trees

Today I wanted to make a soft looking Christmas or winter card.  I used the Coastal Cabana card stock and ink to achieve it.  I inked up the zig zag image and stamped it in the center of the card stock.  I didn't try to get it perfectly centered, it didn't matter.  Then I moved the stamp down and over and stamped again without inking it up and I moved the image over to the other side and down and stamped again.  Then for the top part I inked up the image, stamped off once and I turned the card stock upside down and stamped the image to one side and then I moved down with the image and stamped it one last time.  That made a total of 5 zig zags on the card.  The ones on the top and bottom are extremely light.  If you click on the photo you will see a larger image of it and you can see that light stamping better. 

Next I took the round image in the set and stamped several dots around the card.  As you can see, some of those are light too.

Then I stamped the words.  Those came from the Petite Pairs set.  Then I textured the card stock.   I set it aside and I stamped and punched out the tree.  Then I set it in place using Dimensionals.  

I taped the textured piece to a folded half sheet of Coastal Cabana card stock and it was done.  Very quick, very simple, and very wintery looking!

An Ornamental Pine Ornament Card

This is not just an ornament card, it's actually an ornament on a card.  It's difficult to see but there is a hole in the dotted layer of card stock where the Baker's Twine is tied to the ornament and the card.  So once you give this pretty card out, the one receiving it will be able to remove the ornament and hang it on the tree!  Terri is SO clever!!!

The "Ornamenal Pine" set was used to make this card.  The pines were stamped first using the Mossy Meadow ink.  Then the pine cone was stamped using Early Espresso.  Another pine cone was stamped using Early Espresso ink again but this pine cone was cut out.  Then pine cone was covered in Crystal Effects.  The Crystal Effects actually turned the pine cone green.  But it was a perfect look for it!  The wet pine cone was set aside to dry.

Then the pine needle image was punched out and then the bulb part was punched out.  One of the tag punches was used to do that.  I had never seen that technique done before.  It was SO clever!!!

The pieces were assembled and added to the card as I described above.

This is such a fun and neat idea!

A World of Dreams and Work of Art Birthday

I found a fun card at Shauna's Card a Day blog, that I just had to "work with".  I didn't have the image she used or the wording either.  SO I began my card with the Work of Art background.  I used Tempting Turquoise instead of the Island Indigo.  I do like that color but I was in the mood for something more bright today.

I used the World of Dreams set for the focal image.  I stamped it using the black Memento ink.  It's my favorite black ink to use now.

I used a couple of strips of decorative paper at the bottom. The scalloped circle layer was set in place using Dimensionals.  The words were done on the computer, punched out, and taped in place on top of a Tempting Turquoise 1-3/8" circle.  

I did have fun making this card.  Anytime I can play with the Work of Art set I have fun!!!  And I REALLY like the Tempting Turquoise color!!

I still have a few more Stamp a Stack cards to show you yet too!  I think this would make a fun Stamp  Stack card!

Wintertime Christmas Card Stamp A Stack

Today's card is another from Terri's very fun Christmas Stamp A Stack.  For this card we used the "Wintertime" set with the "Happy Winter" removed.  I LOVE that whole concept.  In doing that Terri made this stamp more versatile.  Can't you see the image done using silver embossing powder and in the center there's a Mr & Mrs?  Or a "You're Invited".  "Congratulations."  So many possibilities now!!!  It's not just for Christmas anymore!!!  Terry is SO clever!!!  

For this fun, simple and quick card we used Real Red card stock and ink.  We stamped the image and then added the words.  The words needed to be added closer to the bottom center of the image so you could add the bow. I almost centered mine but my sister reminded me to move it down!!!  It would have been okay though, I would have just not added the bow. I would think that the words and that image together could stand alone and be just as stunning.

So, if you're looking for a quick Christmas card to make this year and you have TONS to make, this is the one for you!!!  Pick a color you like, or one you have ribbon to match and get going!!!  I have designed our yearly Christmas card and am in the process of putting them together.  It all takes time, doesn't it?  

I don't have a lot to add about this card because it's such a quick, clean and simple card to make.  It really needs no explanation!!

Festival of Trees Holiday Stamp a Stack

Today's card comes to you from one of Terri's very fun Stamp a Stacks.  This one was the Holiday Stamp a Stack.  One of my favorites!  Oh, come on, who am I kidding?  All of her Stamp a Stacks have been my favorite!  And at each one I try to pick out a favorite card.  It's difficult to do because they are all so fun and fabulous.  

This card was made using Soft Sky card stock.  The image is from the "Festival of Trees" stamp set.  It was stamped on a piece of pre-cut Whisper White card stock using Soft Sky ink and then the strip was put in the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  I LOVE those punches!!!  You can make tags for all of the things you want to put on sale too!!!  Versatile!  I'm keeping mine forever!!

Then we added some rhinestones to the tree and the start at the top.  A piece of Baker's Twine was tied to the top of the tag.  A strip of decorative  paper from the "All is Calm" pack was added to the left side.  Then the tag was set in place using Dimensionals.

This was such a fun and sweet card to make!!  I can't wait to show you the rest of them.

Elf Kisses Gift Box

 Sorry I didn't post yesterday.  I try to post every day but I had a busy day at work, plus I was working out the box for these Elf Kisses.  I wanted to make a new twist on the "Elf Kisses".  I had made some a couple of years back and they were a hit.  You can see that post by clicking here.  I wanted to make them as more of a gift looking item so I created a box for them and then added the elf. I added the poem to the back and filled the box with mint kisses.  

The third photo here shows how the box is cut out.  I cut my Wild Wasabi card stock 6" x 8".  I scored the card stock on the short side at 1", 2" and 5". I turned the card stock and scored on the long side at 2-1/2", 3-1/2", 6", and 7".  Look at your score lines and the third photo and cut away the spaces that need cutting.  You will soon see the flaps and you will need to snip them so they fold in.  

Once you have the box cut and folded, add a 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of window sheet to it.  I glued my piece in.  Glue your box together and you are now ready to decorate it as you wish.  I just used two Framelit squares to outline the window of the box.  I didn't go fancy on it because I didn't have a lot of time to work on it. 

For the elf I used a 2" circle.  The ears are the wings from the Bird Builder punch.  The eyes and nose came from the Owl Builder punch.  The brim of the hat is from the Large Oval punch.  The pompom on the hat is from the Owl Builder punch.  The hands are made using two 3/4" circles.  The had is cut from a piece of card stock.  I cut a 2" square and marked on one edge at the 1" spot.  Then I cut from that spot to the right corner at the opposite end and then I repeated that for the left side.  I did have to trim the bottom of the triangle because it showed under the hat brim.  

The card stock colors are Whisper White, Real Red, and Pirouette Pink. 

I used a marker to color in the eyes. I used the Chalkboard marker to make the freckles and highlight the eyes and top of the nose.  Before I assembled the face, I did sponge around the face, ears, and nose.  I glued all of the pieces together.  I just found it more durable than tape. 

When I was done I printed out the adorable poem and glued it to the back of the box.

I'm sure you can decorate the box much nicer than I did.  I didn't have as much time to spend on it as I would have liked to.  

These are very fun to make and also to give as a little gift for someone special.  Mine is already spoken for!

World of Dreams Thank You Card

I believe I made a card back in September that looked something like this.  I think it was more of a fall looking card with orange colors in it.

Today I needed to make a thank you card.  Actually I need to make several thank you cards.  This is the one I chose to make for today.

I used the "World of Dreams" set to make this card.  I stamped the whole image using Pear Pizzazz ink and then I took a blender pen and removed the ink off the flower tips and colored them in with the Marina Mist marker.  The butterfly is from the Sizzlit die and I just glued it in place.  The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.

I used the Dotted embossing folder and cut a strip off the piece and taped it to the front of the card.  I used the ribbon to hide where the "seam" was.  I set the layer in place using Dimesnionals.
