Sophisticated Sled, Greetings of the Season, Winter Meadow, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another car using the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle. I just love the sled and the skates. It's such a fun set to play with and it's got endless possibilities. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Misty Moonlight card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock. One I taped on the inside and the second one I textured using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I usually don't cut the piece to size until after I emboss it but I was at the cutter and cutting the same color so I crossed my fingers and hoped that it would retain it's size. It did. I glued this piece to the front of the card.

Next came the strips. I have always hated to do strips because I'd never get them right. I'd struggle to get them even. And I'd always mess them up somehow.  But lately I think I've caught on and have been getting them right. So you may see more cards with strips (that are straight! LOL). The layers on the strips are 4" x 5/8" pieces of Misty Moonlight card stock. You will need three of them. And the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Winter Meadow" 12" x 12" package and were cut at 3-3/4" x 1/2".  I taped the DSP to the strips and the pieces were set in place on the front of the card using glue. The top strip is 1" from the top edge of the card base. There is a 1/8" space between the strips.

The sled was made next. The bottom part of the sled was cut using Basic Black card stock. The "wooden" part of the sled was cut from Pecan Pie card stock. The greenery was cut using Old Olive and Mossy Meadow card stock. The skates and laces were cut from Basic White card stock. And the blades were cut from some silver metallic card stock.

The laces were glued to the skates and then the blades were added. I took a 6" piece of Baker's Twine and attached it to the back of the skates using Dimensionals to hold it down. I left 2" on the upper part, 1" on each side for "hanging" the skates. More Dimensionals were added to the back of the skates and they were set aside.

Next I added the greenery to the top part of the sled. Then the skates were set in place using the Dimensionals and at the top a glue dot was added to hold the string. I tied a double bow and added it using two glue dots.

Four pearls were colored using my dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen. Three of them were set on the greenery.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the sled and it was placed on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Greetings of the Season" bundle and were cut out using a die from that bundle. I used Misty Moonlight ink for the words. The dies in that bundle are tags. I taped the hole of the tag. I saved the dot and taped it back in the opening.  Then I covered it using the other pearl I colored. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

I love how this card turned out. That DSP is SO pretty and I was glad it returned to the catalog from last year.  This was a fun card to make. I just love playing with this sled. Watch for more sled cards in the future.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,

Sophisticated Sled, Spotlight on Nature, Iconic Celebrations, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog.  It's now past July so I feel like I can pop a few more Christmas cards in the mix. Today I used the "Sophisticated Sled" to make my card. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a quarter sheet of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Falling Snow" embossing folder. I cut it to 4" x 5-1/4" and I glued it to the front of the card.

Next I cut some circles using the dies from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Iconic Celebrations" 6" x 6" stack. The circles were glued in place on top of the embossed piece.

The words are from the same "Sophisticated Sled" and were cut using the die from the "Unbounded Love" bundle. The smallest matching circle in the "Spotlight on Nature" was too small, so I hunted for one that would work.  The words were stamped using black Memento ink and I took my Misty Moonlight marker and ran the belly of it along the edge of the circle to give it a bit of color. The word piece was set in place using Dimensionals.

The sled came next. The frame is cut using Basic Black card stock. The wooden part is cut from a piece of Pecan Pie card stock. The skates and laces are Basic White. The blades are cut from some silver metallic paper. And the greenery is cut from Mossy Meadow and Old Olive card stock.

The "wooden" part of the sled was glued on first.  Then the greenery was added. Mossy Meadow was set down first and then the Old Olive piece.

I glued the laces to the skates and I glued the blades on. Dimensionals were added to the back. I lined the shoes up to where I thought they looked good "hanging" and added Dimensionals to the back. I pressed down only on the ones that touched the other skate. I did this because I needed to lift them up to add the twine. That piece of twine measures 3". I glued the middle of that twine to the middle of the greenery.

A double bow was tied and set in place with glue dots.

I removed the backing on the Dimensionals and set the skates in place.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the sled and it was set in place on the front of the card about 1/2" from the right edge.

I colored some pearls using my dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen. I set them in place on the greenery.

A few small crystal rhinestones and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I like how it turned out. I can't wait to see what the new Christmas DSP will look like. I need some fun papers to play with this holiday season.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,

Spotlight on Nature, Perennial Lavender, Adventurous Sky, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you.  With the way the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is cut you get a "Two Fer" if you choose. And why not? The paper is already cut and you'll just put it back in the package and forget about it. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Highland Heather card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and taped it to the inside. I also cut a 4-1/4" x 4-1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock that I textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. Once textured I trimmed the piece to measure 4"x 5-1/4". I embossed first and then cut because I've had times were the embossing pulls the card stock in a bit and it's not the same size as you had cut. SO I just play it safe and texture first and then cut. I glued this piece to the front of the card.

On the third of this month I had made a card using the circle die with "Happy Birthday" stamped on it. I was originally going to use Crumb Cake card stock for that but it didn't look right so I set them aside for a later date. Well, today I thought I'd try to work those into my card. I had made 3 of them but with this card I only used two. SO look forward to a future card using that circle.  The circle is from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. I had stamped the words from the "Adventurous Sky" on it using black Memento ink. That circle was glued to the front of the card.

Next came the DSP, it's from the "Perennial Lavender" 12" x 12" package and a piece was cut at 3-1/2" x 2-3/8". And then it was cut along the diagonal. Now the only way for this to work is to cut two pieces that size so you can switch them out. The backside of the floral image is the purple piece. I cut a piece of scrap card stock that was just shy of 3-1/2" x 2-3/8" so I could tape the DSP to it. Once the DSP was taped down Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set I place on the front of the card.

The die cut leaf piece is from the "Flowers of Beauty" bundle and were cut using Very Vanilla card stock.  I thought it looked a bit blah so I took my Wink of Stella pen and colored all over it. Then I cut some Dimensionals very thin and stuck them to the back of the piece. The piece was set in place on the front of the card.

I took 12" of twine, folded it in half and made a bow. I trimmed the ends and set the bow in place using two small glue dots.

A three tiny pearls were added to the front and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I like it that I got two cards done at the same time.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Perennial Lavender, Sketched Butterflies, Simply Said, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you using scraps of Designer Series Paper (DSP). Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock that was textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I set it aside.

Next I cut the strips. The Highland Heather strips are cut as follows, 4-7/8" x 5/8", 4-1/8" x 5/8", and 3" x 5/8".

The DSP is from the "Perennial Lavender" 12" x 12" package. It was cut at 4-3/4" x 1/2", 4" x 1/2", and 2-7/8" x 1/2".  I taped the layers together and then they were glued to the textured piece. The tallest strip is about 1/4" from the edge of the textured piece. The next piece was glued about 1/8" from the first strip and the third strip was glued at 1/8" from the second strip.  I used the "Toothpick Method" to get them spaced equally. I used two round toothpicks between the strips. I forgot I used to use toothpicks to space my pieces. How the memory is failing! LOL  I just put the toothpicks down against the first strip and then butt the next one up to it and so on. Don't get glue on the toothpicks or they could stick to your card and then you'll have to figure out a clever way to incorporate them onto your card. LOL After I'm done with the toothpicks, if I didn't get any glue on them I put them back in my toothpick holder. Don't say YUCK!  These toothpicks are for crafting only.

Once the strips were added, Dimensionals were added to the back of the embossed piece and it was set in place on the front of the card.

I cut a butterfly from the "Sketched Butterflies" bundle using a piece of DSP from the same "Perennial Lavender" package. I set it in place using a small Dimensional. I added three tiny pearls down the center for the body. I was going to color it in with my Basic Black marker but the body was kind of oval and not straight and I thought it would look a bit odd so I went with the pearls.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using Gorgeous Grape ink on a 3" x 5/8" strip of Basic White card stock. They were set in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it, the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I really like this layout. It used up some pieces of scrap that I had almost tossed in recycling.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Simply Said, Thoughtful Journey, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a super quick and easy card to make. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opened on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4"x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Layered Florals" embossing folder.

I had a strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" package and I trimmed it to 2" x 5-1/4".  I glued this to the left side of the embossed piece. Then I glued the embossed piece to the front of the card.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I trimmed the piece to measure 5-/8" 2-3/4". Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. It was centered by eyeing it and it's about 1-5/8" up from the bottom of the card base.

I added a little brass butterfly to give it a little bling that fit with the nature theme.

And there you have it. A super quick and easy card plus I got to use a bit of scrap in my "Thoughtful Journey" package.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Enduring Beauty, Adventurous Sky, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on Pinterest. I just love red, black and white on cards. I found the card here. A few changes were made but for the most part it is very similar. I wasn't able to track down the measurements so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock. After cutting in half it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was cut and taped to the inside.

The top layers are cut as follows. The Basic Black piece measures 4" x 5-1/4" and the Basic White layer measures 3-3/4" x 5".  I cut the Basic White layer after I textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I taped the Basic Black piece on top of the card base and then glued the Basic White piece in place.

Next the flower image from the "Enduring Beauty" bundle was stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. This bundle comes with stencils and I started with Real Red ink on my Blending Brush but I couldn't get it dark enough so I ended up coloring with my Blends Pens. I used the dark Real Red and light Cherry Cobbler on the flowers and both light and dark Granny Apple Green for the leaves. There's not a lot to the coloring just fill it in with the lighter color and add some highlights with the darker color and you're done. The piece was then cut out using the matching die in the bundle. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the die in the bundle. I snipped the ends so they were straight. Then the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

I took some linen thread I had and tied a double bow. I pulled a little on one end on each side so the loops weren't exactly the same. It was then set in place using a coupe of small glue dots. You can glue it in place too, either will work.

I thought about adding some bling but I liked it the way it was. It keeps your eye focused on the red flowers. They eye is attracted to red and had I added some red bling it wouldn't have the same feeling that it has being plain.

This was a fun card to make and it was super quick to make too.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Thoughtful Journey, Unbounded Love, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fun die cut card to share with you. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Misty Moonlight card stock and I taped it to the front of the card.

Next I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" package. That piece measures 3-3/4" x 5".

I cut another piece of DSP from the same package and I cut it the same size. Using the 7th die in the "Deckled Circles" die set I cut into the top piece about 2-1/4".  Dimensionals were added to the back of the piece and it was set in place on top of the first piece of DSP.

The wording is from the "Unbounded Love" bundle and were stamped using Night of Navy ink. I cut them out using a die from the same bundle. This die is a bit difficult to work with. I thought it would just make some marks on the card stock and cut the outer edge. It actually cut out the center word piece. I taped the pieces back together. Dimensionals were added to the back on the areas where they would be sticking to the DSP.

The leaves are from another die in the "Unbounded Love" bundle. I had originally cut out that piece with different words but it too was a die that the inside comes out. I couldn't tape it back together because the part that would hang over the open area wouldn't be sturdy enough to support the piece. SO I cut the leaves off the piece and tucked them under the "hello" piece. I liked the look so I glued the stem of the leaves down and then set the word piece in place over a bit of the leaves. And I liked how it looked and I left it as it was. No bling, no ribbons and no threads.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Adventurous Sky, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I had made this card the other day and thought I had posted it. No wonder I had to scramble to make one that evening. I think I really need to take a day and clean off my worktable. This was a fun and simple card to make. Please read on to see how it was done.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy card stock. It open on the right and the fold is on the left.

A 4"x 5-1/4" piece of Night of Navy was cut for the layer.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) was cut next. It's from the "Take to the Sky" 12" x 12" package. The piece on the left was cut at 5" x 1-5/8". The top right piece was cut at 2" x 3-1/4" and the bottom piece was cut at 2" x 1-5/8".  I taped them to the layer piece.

I cut the plane from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle. I used Copper Clay for the body and Smoky Slate for the wings. I also cut the propellers using Basic Black card stock. The die cuts two and I used them both. The other areas that look dark were colored in using my Basic Black marker, including the tires. I glued the pieces to the plane together. Dimensionals were added to the back of the plane and it was set in place on the front of the card but I didn't press down on it yet.

The words were from the same "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamp using Night of Navy ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the cloud die from the bundle. I also cut a few more clouds at the same time. Dimensionals were added to the back and they were set in place on the front of the card. There was two small clouds that I just taped in place (no Dimensionals).  I pressed down on the pieces so they were affixed to the front of the card.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was added to the inside and the card was done.

This was a fun and quick card to make. I like how it turned out and I especially love the DSP background.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's masculine birthday card,

Enduring Beauty, Cheerful Daisies, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have one more "Enduring Beauty" flower bunch to share with you and then I'll move on to something else (promise). Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Wildly Flowering" 12" x 12" package. I taped that to the front of the card.

Next I cut a strip of DSP from the "Season of Green & Gold" 12" x 12" package. It measures 5-1/4" x 1-1/2". I taped that to the left side of the card, on top of the "Wildly Flowering" DSP.

Then the flowers were colored. I stamped them from the "Enduring Beauty" bundle using black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White card stock.  I colored them using the matching stencils. I used stencils 1-4. The colors I used were Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia for the flowers and Granny Apple Green for the leaves (stencils 3 and 4). Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card but don't press down on it yet.

The words are from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink and then cut out using the matching die. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.

In that same die there is a branchy looking die, I cut two and tucked them under the flower piece and then I pressed the flower piece in place.

I added a few small pearls and the card was done.

There is one thing I would do if I were to make this again. I'd pay better attention to the outline on the colored flowers. On this card they seemed to have gotten dulled. I would stamp my image using the Stamparatus or a MISTI and leave the stamp on it until I'm all done with the card. Once the stenciling was done I could have put it back in the Stamparatus or MISTI and stamped it again to make those lines darker. But this is what I ended up with because that thought didn't come to mind until I was all done and it was too late.

Stenciling is such a fun way to make beautiful cards. I do like how it turned out. I think it's the background that is making this card likable for me.

Enduring Beauty, Cheerful Daisies, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another stenciled card to share with you. I found the card on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. When I made the card yesterday I made a couple. Why not. You have the stencils out and "dirty" so you might was well make more than one. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I put the card together.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. Once cut in half it measures 4-1/4" x 11". It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Layered Florals" embossing folder. Then the piece was cut into strips that measured 1-1/2" x 3-7/8". I cut mine a bit shorter than on the original card. And had I realized how big the spaces were between the strips I would have cut them a bit wider. And I could have cut the strips at 3-3/4" so the sides were as wide as the top and bottom.  I don't understand why mine was so off when I had followed the instructions. But it is what it is. I glued these pieces in place.

Next I stamped the flower from the "Enduring Beauty" bundle using black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I colored it in using the stencils in the bundle. I used the matching stencils to color it. I used stencils #1-4. I colored a couple of flowers using the Daffodil Delight and the reaming flowers using Calypso Coral. I used Calypso Coral for the highlights on the three flowers. I also used it on the Daffodil Delight flowers but very lightly. I tried using Daffodil Delight to make it a bit darker but it didn't work. The leaves were colored using Granny Apple Green for both the leaves  and the details on the leaves (stencils 3 and 4). Once the coloring was done I cut them out using the matching die.  Then I cut the piece in half.

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White and before I taped it to the inside of the card I used it as a guide for the stenciled flowers. I set the bottom piece on the left bottom area and trimmed any excess that hung over. And then I did the same for the upper piece. Once that was done I taped the Basic White piece to the inside of the card.

The flower pieces were glued to the front of the card.  It's best to use glue because there is so much texture on the Basic White piece that the tape might not get enough coverage to stick.

The words are from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the die from the same "Cheerful Daisies" bundle. I set the words in place on the front of the card. On the original card it was shown how to put the upper leaf over the words. With the words I chose that didn't work but I was able to get the leaf on the bottom to go over the word piece. I just thought it was a fun touch.

And that was it, the card was done. I do like how it turned out but I would redo the measurements next time to there isn't such a gap between them.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

Enduring Beauty, Cheerful Daisies, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a flowery birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I set it aside for now.

Next I took a 1/4 sheet of Basic White card stock and stamped the floral image from the "Enduring Beauty" bundle using black Memento ink.

Then the fun part happens, the coloring. It's kind of magical the way it happens. It's done by using the matching stencils and Blending Brushes.

I cut the piece out using the matching die and then I used the matching stencils to color it. The leaves were colored using Granny Apple Green for both the leaves and the details on the leaves. Once the coloring was done I cut them out using the matching die.

I added glue to the back of the floral piece and set it on the lower left side of the "Exposed Brick" piece. Using a scissors I trimmed off the excess that was hanging over on the left and bottom.

I added Dimensionals to the back of the piece and set it in place on top of the card base.

The words are from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle and were stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I used a die from that bundle to cut them out. I set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals and the card was done. I was going to add some bling but I didn't want to take away from the pretty background texture.

This was a fun card to make and those stencils make it look like you are SO good at coloring/shading.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Adventurous Sky, Take to the Sky, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I thought I would make one more masculine card before I put the "Adventurous Sky" bundle aside for a while. I found this card on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I put this card together.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Misty Moonlight card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was taped to the inside of the card.

I cut a 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Pecan Pie and taped it to the front of the card. It's about 3/8" up from the bottom edge.

A 2" x 4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Take to the Sky" 12" x 12" package was taped to the front of the card about 1/2" from the left side and equal distance on the top and bottom.

Then another strip of DSP was cut from the same package that measured 5-1/4" x 1-1/4". It was taped across the Pecan Pie strip and over the cloud DSP.

Using the largest circle in the "Everyday Details" die set, I cut a Basic White circle. I had cut a Crumb Cake one but it clashed with the Pecan Pie strip. I took my Blending Brush and scrubbed on some Balmy Blue ink to tone it down a bit. Basic Beige card stock was used on the original card. I didn't have any so I had to improvise.

The words are from the same "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped on the circle using black Memento ink. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. It was centered as much as possible by eyeing it.

I stamped the plane from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle using black Memento ink. I colored it in using my Blends pens. I used dark Balmy Blue for the wings. Boho Blue was used on the original card.

The body of the plane was colored in using light and dark Pecan Pie and the wheels and the "swirl" marks of the propellers were colored in using my light Smoky Slate Blends pen. And that was it.

This was a fun card to make. I am close to getting my stash of masculine cards done. It's pretty easy with this set!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's masculine birthday card,

Adventurous Sky, Take to the Sky, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I have another masculine birthday card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest but there was no link for instructions. You can see the original card here.  Please read on to see how today's card was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Copper Clay card stock. Once cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11". I scored it at 4-1/2", 5-1/2" and 6-1/2".  I folded it in half and then glued the inside on the 6-1/2" area. Close the card, use your bone folder to press the glue in place.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic Black for the top of the card. I also cut a 4-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the inside.

Then I cut a 4" x 3-3/4" piece of  Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Take to the Sky" 12" x 12" package. I taped that to the Basic Black piece and then that was taped to the front of the card.

Next I die cut four squares using the "Perennial Postage" set. I used the smallest square die. I taped the four squares on a piece of Basic Black card stock that measures 3" x 3".  Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I used the die from the bundle to cut the words out. I snipped the ends off. Tape was added to the back and it was set on a piece of Basic Black card stock. I trimmed it to fit the word piece. After cutting the Basic Black piece measured 1/2" x 2-1/8".  Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the center of the card.

On the strip on the left side I cut a 4" x 7/8" piece of Basic Black card stock for the layer and the DSP was cut at 3-7/8" x 3/4".  I taped the DSP to the Basic Black piece and then taped that piece to the left side of the card on that 1" strip. I thought that space still needed something, I added a 1/4" x 3-5/8" piece of Basic Black card stock. I glued that piece in place.  And that was it.

I thought this card was so warm looking. I think it's the airplane DSP, it's got such nice colors to it that draw your eye to it.

This was a fun card to make and I am pleased with the way it turned out.

Adventurous Sky, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest but there was no link so I had to figure out the measurements for myself. Please read on to see how the card was made. You can see the original card here.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Night of Navy for the large layer and a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White for the top large layer. That piece was textured using the "Dotted Circles" embossing folder. I glued that to the Night of Navy piece and then that was taped to the front of the card.

Next I took a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Take to the Sky" 12" x 12" package. Mine was a scrap piece so it was 1-5/8" wide and I trimmed it to 3-3/4" long. I set it aside.

The square Night of Navy layer was cut at 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and the Basic White square was cut at 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  I stamped the plane from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle to it using Night of Navy ink. I took my Blending Pen and colored over the plane. The pen picked up the blue from the ink and that's how the plane got it color. Careful not to go over an area too much, the outlines will lighten up too much plus your card stock could pill.

The words are from the same "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped using Nigh of Navy ink.

I taped the DSP to the Night of Navy square and then taped the Basic White square on top of that.

Dimensionals were added to the back, including on top of the DSP and the piece was set in place on the front of the card, centering it as much as possible.  I had centered the large Basic White piece on the "Dotted Circles" folder so it was pretty easy to get things lined up to be ever so close to center.

And that was it, a super easy and quick masculine birthday card to make!
