Have a Cup Magic Window Technique Card 2016 Occasions Catalog

Today I'm going to share a fun technique with you. We made this card at Terri's Technique Tuesday class. This card was created using the "Have a Cup" set from the 2016 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.  I do not have this set and I'm not sure if I'm going to purchase it or not.  I have so many sets to play with and some I have not touched yet.

For this card we stamped the focal image and added a piece of decorative paper to the left side of the front of the gate folded card.

Then we proceeded to make the inside.

I have instructions here for one I made a while back.  I thought I had taken a photo of it, but I guess I didn't.  Or if I did, it's so lost in all of the photos of my camera.  I'll have to do some searching one of these days.

Anyway, here is the measurements I used to make my card.  You can change the measurements of the side pieces and the size of the opening you make, to fit your card.

Card base 11" x 4-1/4"
2 Outside panels 2-1/2" x 4"
2 Inside panels 2-1/2" x 4"
Center panel and decorative layer on center panel 5-1/4" x 4"
2-3/8" circle saved from cutting inside panel
Two 4-1/4" x 3" for mechanism
Cardstock scraps for punching flowers

When gluing the mechanism pieces to the inside of the panels (along the fold line) you need to do them both at the same time so you can slide the glued ends to line up evenly on the top and bottom or the aperture will be off. Glue must be used to add the words so it can be moved around to center it.

You can find a simplified version of this card here on YouTube.  The instructions above are for a more embellished card.  Keeping them simple works well too.  The card pictured here was done using the new 3 size Ribbon punch.  That simplified the opening a lot.  For mine I had to measure and cut and then duplicate that for the second half.  On the card pictured we just punched both pieces.  The YouTube video is easy to follow and I think you should be able to make one like pictured here.  I will try to find the original card I made.

These are a fun and very unique card.  I am working on another one for next months swap.  There's a lot of cutting of pieces on the one I'm making. It's not so bad if you're making just one, but it's a swap so I am making more than one.  I think I'm done cutting the pieces now and it's just a matter of stamping and assembling.  I'll share it with you when I'm done, or when it's swap time!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
