This Little Piggy, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Wiper, Gift Card Holder, Flinger, Birthday Card

About a year and a half ago I had made a "Wiper" card.  That is a very fun technique. That card was a flat one. This one opens up almost like a diorama type card.  You can see my wiper card here.  I found a couple of cards on the web that I thought I would combine.  I found a video on how to make the wiper card and I was a bit disappointed because the measurements for the main pieces and top layers were wrong and I only had one large 6" x 6" piece of the DSP from the "How Sweet It Is" pack.  She says to cut the card stock 4-1/4" x 6-1/4". I backed up the video several times to make sure I got those measurements right.  I did, she didn't.  They should measure 4-1/4" x 7".  And that also threw off the front DSP panel and Whisper White layers.  Those were 4-1/8" x 4-7/8" for the Whisper White piece, but it really should be 4-1/4" x 5".  And the DSP was cut at 4" x 4-3/4" and it should be 4-1/8" x 4-7/8".  Okay, with that out of the way you can follow the rest of her video or you can find another one out there, there's LOTS of them.  You can see her video here.

I didn't follow the instructions as she went along. I did not add the wiper piece and then glue the sides. I was making a pig in a window because I saw one on the net that I thought was cute. And you can see that one here.  I worked with the wiper piece and I ended up cutting it at 3/4" wide.  I also tapered it from the end that is stuck to the back of the pig to a bit beyond the back of the pig.  Click on the top photo and you can see that.  I was showing above the pigs back and I didn't like the look of it.  There may be a clever way to hide that better.  Maybe a circle behind the pig and then the wiper but after struggling with the cutting errors, I was a bit too frustrated and disappointed to give more attention to my card.  And as I look at it, maybe a circle on top of the wiper and then the pig on top of that may be a nice look.  Also, stamping and cutting out another pig and gluing it to the back of the first pig would hid the wiper on the back. I may still stamp and cut one out to hide that.  I don't think it would be necessary but this card also had a gift card/money holder slot on the back.

And I thought it would be cute to have the pig hold a present since it was a birthday card.  Oh, but I didn't just stop there.  When I saw how the lady opened up the wiper card, it was kind of a fast motion, my brain thought flinger card.  Like my workroom floor didn't have enough tiny bits of paper on it.  Nothing a good vacuuming wouldn't take care of.  UGH!!

To make the flinger holder part, I took a 1" x 8" cellophane bag and cut it to 7/8" long.  And I also cut a little elongated "U" shape on the front edge so I could open it easier. I thought it was hard to open with the edges even.  I added some punched out dots from my Rubi Coil punch machine and I gave the card a try. What a mess!! LOL  It worked and it's fun!

I think I would also take a circle punch, somewhere around 1" and punch the top part of the gift card holder (in the center) to make it easier to grab the gift card and remove it.  Maybe I'll rework this card and make it the right way and with the fun changes.

So if you give this card a try be aware of the size paper you are cutting. Perhaps you can just cut some from copier paper first to make sure the measurements are accurate.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
