A Hang Your Stocking Coloring Technique

Here is another card I made for Terri's 2016 Occasions Extravaganza.  I wanted a sparkling green stocking but was having trouble getting the green dark enough.  You need to dab the stocking with a paper towel to absorb the wet color. Most of the time you end up with a very light color.  Today I thought I would try some hairspray on it to see if it would hold.  It needed a fixative but I didn't want to use anything with a heavy chemical smell or anything I had to use outdoors.  So hairspray came to mind and it worked!  So what you do is sponge the color on and then add hairspray to set the color and allow it to dry.

I also used the new "Cable Knit" embossing folder.  It's such a thick folder.  You need to mist your card stock first. And you only need one plate when running it through your Big Shot.  It's very fun and cool looking.

I also used some new Washi tapes here too.  I set everything on a paper doily and I added some gold cord for a fun little touch.  Something I don't usually play with.

This was fun to make and it's SO festive looking!

A Hang Your Stocking Tic Tac Toe Game

I was digging in one of my many drawers of junk and found this fun Tic Tac Toe wooden game.  I had gotten it a while back at Oriental Trading and much to my surprise, they still carry it.  It's item # 27/1075.

To make this, I cut pieces of Whisper White card stock to cover the wooden pieces already on the board. I needed to cover up the old X's and O's. I sponged the edges with Real Red before I glued them in place with Aleen's Tacky Glue.

I used the snowflakes from one of the die cut stockings and I used the tree die cut to make the images for the game.  I sponged the trees Garden Green and a little Soft Suede on the trunks.  It's light on the Dazzling Diamonds card stock.  I scrubbed the color in with a sponge and it ended up being light because it rubbed off on my paper towel. Once it was done rubbing off it ended up light. Which is okay, you can still tell a tree from a snowflake!

For the snowflakes, I sponged them with Pacific Point and this light blue is what I got.  These colors are a little more vivid in person.

This now a fun little game with a Christmas theme!

This is one of the items that I displayed at my demo table at Terri's extravaganza.  All the demos there were items from the new 2016 Occasions catalog.  It was a fun time and lots of fun things to see.

September 2016 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card

I LOVED this month's Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contained 16 test tubes to decorate for Halloween.  How fun was that?  There were pieces left over but I didn't use them in this card. I copied this card from an email I received from Stampin' Up! regarding the Paper Pumpkin.  I thought it was such a cute card that I had to copy it.  I made my card a full size card.  The one in the email was a square card.  I like square cards but you have to mail them in a regular card envelope or you pay more.  So I just stick to the regular size stuff.  And I think it turned out cute with the full size.

I used Peekaboo Peach card stock for the base of my card.  I stamped the pumpkins in that color too.  I used Pumpkin Pie ink for the highlight (low light) under the pumpkins.  I didn't know what that stamp shape was for until today!  I thought it looked like dripping blood but I wasn't sure how I would work it onto one of the images.  Well, now I know!!! LOL  The stem was stamped using Old Olive ink and the face was stamped using black Memento ink.

The Washi tape is from the "Pop of Pink" spools.  There is a 1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock under the Washi tape and black baker's twine was tied in a bow and set in place with a glue dot.

The pumpkins were fussy cut.  The one on the lower right is set in place with Dimensionals, the other two were just taped in place.

The background layer is Smoky Slate and the words were stamped using Smoky Slate ink.  The words on the white piece on the top left corner were stamped using black Memento ink.

It was such a fun card to make, even the fussy cutting wasn't so bad!!!

A Christmas Hang Your Stocking Thinlits Die Christmas Card

Here is a fun card I made using the new "Christmas Stockings"Thinlits dies.  I made this for Terri's Holiday Extravaganza event.

I was just playing around with some pieces and ideas and this is what I came up with.

I used the new Emerald Envy card stock for the base of the card. Then I used a piece of Whisper White that was cut 4-5/8" x 3-1/2".

I cut the Real Red glitter paper 3" x 4-1/8".

I cut the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper 2-7/8" x 4".

I used the "Layering Circles" Framelits Dies for the circles. I used two smallest ones.  To cut the circles so they are centered, I used a post it notes to "tape" the two pieces together so they wouldn't shift when going through the Big Shot.  The red piece didn't cut all the way through. I didn't expect it to, this card stock is VERY thick. But it did leave a mark so I was able to set the die back in place and run it though the Big Shot without the Dazzling Diamonds piece.  Then I took the next larger circle and lined it up on the Dazzling Diamonds piece and used post it notes to hold it in place.  I ran it through the Big Shot and then I glued the two layers together.  I don't have much luck with tape and the glitter paper.  It seems to be sticking and in a day or two it's shifted or come off, so now I just glue.

I also glued the words and holly with berries on.

I stamped the tree using Emerald Envy ink.  Then I took the little pieces that were from the stocking with the snowflake in the center and I cut them to fit the tree. The tree needed something and the rhinestone on top that I colored with a yellow Sharpie. It was pretty, but it wasn't enough.  So I was thinking of what I could add, maybe more rhinestones colored like bulbs???  No, they were too big for that little tree.  I noticed one of those little strip pieces on my worktable and I set it across the bottom "branches" of the tree and I thought it may work. So I cut up three pieces and set them in place and I liked what I saw so I glued them down! I even took a tiny piece and added it to one of the berries to give it the look of being shiny!!

To assemble this card you need to have everything done first, including adding the words.  Tape the Whisper White layer in place on top of the Emerald Envy piece.  Then take the glued glitter paper layers and add Dimensionals around the circle (on the backside).  Hover over the tree piece and set the glitter layers on top. Turn the piece over again and add more Dimesionals around the back and add some snail tape to the back of the tree piece.  Line this piece up over the Whisper White layer and press in place.  And that's it!  You can embellish a little more on the front if you wish, but you can't stamp on it, the top layer is not solid enough to allow you to get a clean image.

I have always loved using this layout.  It's my favorite.  I have used it for many years.  Whenever I get a small image, this layout is my go to one!!

A Christmas Stockings Thinlits, Hang Your Stocking, Test Tube Holder Tutorial Holiday Gift

Today I am going to share with you a 3-D item I made for Terri's Holiday Extravaganza.  I demoed the "Hang Your Stockings" and "Christmas Stockings Thinlits" bundle.  It was a fun time and it was super fun making things to show! The last Extravaganza I demoed at this past summer, I just had cards.  So I thought some 3-D stuff and other non card items would be fun to show too, along with cards.

I was thrilled to be able to play with this fun set (bundle).  I LOVE Christmas stockings and mittens.  There's no mittens in this set but that's okay. Maybe next year!!! I probably would have concentrated more on one than the other anyway!

I found a fun template to make the holder at Split Coast Stampers.  I did struggle with their pattern though.  I thought something was wrong with the measurements at the beginning.  I made my first and second holder out of copier paper to make sure I got everything right before I got out the card stock.  Both times it didn't work.  I found that if I score my card stock at 3/8", 1-5/8", 4-1/4", 5-1/2" I got the pattern to work better.  My issue with it was the top flap.  It just wasn't long enough.  I followed the instructions for scoring twice, taking care to be accurate and both times I couldn't get it to work.  Give it a try on copier paper and see if maybe it was me reading something wrong.  Or just use these score lines.  You will still need to go to Split Coast Stampers (linked above) and follow the scoring for the short side and then back to the long side to add partial score lines.  I only had issues with the first 2 score lines, the rest was fine.

Anyway, back to this fun holder.  I had gotten some test tubes at Oriental Trading a few years ago.  I don't know if they still sell them but you can always look and you can always Google it, someone is selling some.

I used smallest "Layering Circles" Framelits for the hole for the test tube.  I filled my test tube with red and green spiced gum drops.  I thought it was Christmasy.  It's September and all I can find in the stores is Halloween candy.  There's always Starlight Mints but they won't fit in the test tube.  And there's Red Hots and there's always M & M's.

I cut out the stocking using the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter paper.  I used the red glitter paper for the stocking cuff, heel and toe.  I cut out a Wild Wasabi bow using the "Christmas Stockings" Thinlits dies.  That die package has lots of fun pieces in it.  I wanted to use the Holly and Berries but the berries got lost in the cuff of the stocking so I switched to the bow instead.  I think the center of the bow could use a rhinestone or pearl. I'll be adding one or the other after I post this.  I always notice things after I think I'm done with the project.

For the base of my holder I used Whisper White card stock.  I used the Real Red striped paper from the 12" x 12" Brights paper stack.  I thought it looked festive!!!  The words are from the "Hang Your Stocking" set.  I am playing with the bundle so you get the best of both worlds!!!  I glued the words in place and wrapped a piece of paper around them and then held it down with a rubber band and set it aside to dry.  And that was it.

A Hang Your Stocking and Christmas Stockings Thinlits Christmas Card

While surfing the net I found a great Christmas card to make with the fun "Hang Your Stocking" stamp set and the "Christmas Stockings" Thinlits dies.  It just seems now that since most of the stamp sets that come out have matching dies, I don't like to cut anything anymore!!!  I've gotten lazy!! Once in a while I will cut something but not if I have to make a bunch!!!  See, lazy!!! I'm SO spoiled by these dies!

I found this card at "Song of my Heart Stampers" site.  I thought it would be fun to create.  I got the green stocking a little crooked but it's still a pretty card. I did change the card a little too, I didn't have the same decorative paper, so I just used Real Red from the Decorative Paper 12" x 12" stack.  I'm excited to play with this bundle more!!

To make this card I cut a half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I cut off 1/2" from the bottom front of the card.  I added a 3/4" piece of the Real Red Decorative Paper to the inside. I have not done a card like that in a VERY long time. I forget to add that type of color to my cards.

I die cut the red stocking and stocking top. I taped the stocking top in place.  I added Dimensionals to the back of the stocking but I didn't remove the protective layer yet.  I needed to set it in the center of the card to see where I needed to stamp the stockings.  I stamped the Soft Sky stocking next and then the Cucumber Crush stocking.

When I cut out the red stocking, I cut the bow, berries and the holly leaves all at the same time.  I like to try to cut as much as I can in one run though my Big Shot.  Once I got the stockings stamped I set the red stocking in place.  I added the holly and berries on the left stocking and the bow on the right stocking.  For that bow, I took a glue dot and folded it in half and then in half again so it would give the bow a little dimension but not too much.  And that was it.  Very fun and super simple.

Swirly Scribbles Snowman using Spritz Your Color Technique

I can not even begin to tell you how much fun I had making this card. I LOVE the "Swirly Scribbles" framelits that go with the "Swirly Bird" stamp set.  I saw a snowman on Pinterest somewhere that used the 3 sizes as a snowman, so I took it one step further.  I added a hat, eyes, smile, nose and buttons.

I set the now in place using a slice of a Dimensional.

The hat is from the "Snow Place" set and the "Snow Friends" framelits.  I colored the band of the hat in using the Daffodil Delight marker.

I colored some pearls in using a black Sharpie marker.  It doesn't take long to dry, but I colored them first and set them aside while I worked on the card.  I wanted to make sure it was 100% dry!

The hat was set in place using Dimensionals.

I used a left over snowflake from the "Hang Your Stocking" die.  I thought it was a nice touch.

I die cut the snowman swirls and the snowflake out of the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper.

I used the "Falling Snow" embossing folder.

And I also used the "Spritz Your Color" technique for the background.  I added a little "Wink of Stella" to the spritzing bottle and got a nice little shimmer to the paper. You can find the instructions for the "Spritz Your Color" technique here.

This was a very fun card to make and I may be keeping it for a long time!!! LOL

Spritz Your Color Technique using Flowering Flourishes, Sympathy Card

This is one of the cards I received in a swap. It was made by Nancy. The technique was "Spritz Your Color."

Terri has two new techniques to teach the group every month. This was last month's technique. The swap theme is to make a card using one of the techniques from the prior month.

You can find the instructions for the spritzing technique here.

I've had a lot of fun with this technique.  I am working on a fun card using that technique in the background.  I may have it ready to show you tomorrow.  Plus I found a few other fun things you can do with this technique that I know you will want to hear about and see what's done!!!

Spritz Your Color, Stamping Technique, Masculine Fall Card

I an not sure what set these trees are from. I think it may be the August or September monthly special stamp set. I know it's new but it's not in the catalog or the Holiday Occasions catalog.

This is a fun technique.  This is the card that Terri had us make to learn the technique.  You can see how to make the technique here.

It's fun and easy and no two cards will look alike!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,

Thank you Laura, the set the trees are from is called "Thoughtful Branches."

Elf Kisses Kit Post

I get a lot of emails asking how to find the Elf Kits post, so I thought I would post it here.  It has been 4 years since I posted it and there's a lot of posts to go though to find it if you don't do searches or know how to find it, and here it is!!!

These make GREAT Teacher to Student gifts! They are also nice little items for stocking stuffers, something for the mail carrier, the cashier, bank teller, etc. These are available year round.

Here's another gem I found on Pinterest.  One of a billion things I've found on there. But what is different about this pin is I actually made it!!!  Shocker.  I spend SO much time pinning things and so little time making the things I find. Well, I managed to find some time to make these.  They were very fun to make too.  I LOVE the punch art stuff.

The punches used here are as follows:  The bulb punch for the head, a petal punch was used for the hat.  Ovals were cut and trimmed for the brim, the bird wing was used for the ears and round circle punches for the eyes, nose and the tip of the hat.

The elf was found here at the Paper Den.  The instructions were not included so I just winged it!  I think they turned out cute though I wish I would have had that top fold closer to the words.  But it's still cute and it does it's job!

The original one had mixed Hershey Kisses in the bag but I was thinking green.  When I think of elves I think of them wearing green.  So then their kisses should be green too, right?

The cute poem reads:
With Little elf eyes watching you,
There's not a lot that
Santa misses,
So to help you be good today,
Here's a bunch of sweet
Elf kisses.

Spooky Fun, Halloween Card, Spritz Your Color Technique

This is my card for the swap tonight at Terri's Technique Tuesday.  The technique is called "Spritz Your Color".  You just stamp your image using Staz On ink and you spritz your color on. I stamped after and I used Memento ink.  So there's a couple ways you can stamp.

To get the colors, you fill your misting bottle with rubbing alcohol and add 10 drops or more of inker. Leave space in your spritzer bottle for the sprayer part to go back in.  Shake it to mix.  Spray your paper and allow to dry.  Here I used 4 colors.  I first sprayed with Emerald Envy. Then I added Marina Mist.  Then I added Night of Navy at the top.  I added a light spritz of Real Red.  Then I added another spray of Marina Mist.  Oh, I forgot to mention, I added about 10 drops from my Wink of Stella pen to the bottle to get a light glitter/glimmer to the paper.  Remember the glimmer paper that Stampin' Up! use to carry?  Just take a spritzer bottle and add rubbing alcohol and Wink of Stella without any color and spray your paper.  Viola, glimmer paper!!!

Okay, after my paper dried, which didn't take all that long, by the time I was done spraying my 12 pieces they were dry.  And if they weren't, there's always other cutting to do before the card was assembled.  But anyway, after they were dry I stamped the bats from the "Spooky Fun" set.

The moon is from a piece of Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper and I spritzed it with Daffodil Delight and Dijon Mustard.  That paper takes longer to dry.  Oh and the more you spritz on it, the more you may have to dab off with a paper towel.  The ink does not dry on the glitter very well, so you may get color on your hands if you spray too much.

This was a very fun card to make and I'm excited to see what the other gals are doing with this technique.

Flourish Thinlits, Tin of Cards, Masculine Birthday Card

I thought it was kind of fun to make a fallish card today.  The weather has warmed up a little here so it still feels like summer out and not so much like fall, but the calendar is telling me different!!!

I found inspiration for this card at Mary's "Stamper Camper's Corner" blog.  It was another one of those "make do with what you have" card.  The changes to my card are that panel on the inside of the card, the center leaf, the words and the dots.

I'm not sure how Mary made her card but I will tell you how I made mine.

The card is made using a folded half sheet of Rich Razzleberry card stock.  I cut off the front edge 3/8".  I cut a piece of "Floral Boutique" Decorative Series Paper.  I liked this dotted piece.  It didn't have flowers on it, it was dark enough and it seemed to fit with the dots on the front.  It worked for me!!  So before I taped that on the inside, I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" and taped it in place.  Then I cut that blue dotted strip 1" wide x 5-1/2" long.  I taped it in place on the edge of the card.

I cut the front Whisper White panel piece 3-1/2" x 5-3/8".  I die cut the leaves from the "Flourish" Thinlits pack.  I cut one of each of the colors, Night of Navy, Cajun Craze, and Rich Razzleberry .

The words were stamped using Night of Navy ink and the "Tin of Cards" stamp set.

The dots are from the retired "Candy Dots". I didn't have any of the new enamel ones, but demonstrators know how to substitute what is current from what is retired!!!  I need to use up some of my retired stuff, and it's easy enough to substitute.

And that was it. It was very fun and easy to make.

Oh and my tip here, I used waxed paper between the die and the card stock.  I find the dryer sheet leaves a film behind that the tape sometimes doesn't like to stick to.  The waxed paper has not failed me yet.  And to glue it in place, I used white glue on a piece of waxed paper. I folded it in half to get the glue to spread more evenly.  I opened it, set the leaf in place and put another piece of waxed paper over it.  I pressed down to get the ink to go on the back of the leaf and then set the leaf in place.  It's a super quick way to get the glue on those intricate pieces.  It makes me like to play with them more. Easy to cut and easy to glue. LOVE it!!

Weathered Together, Friendship Card, Shaker Card Technique

Today I'm going to share with you a card that I received in one of the technique swaps I was in. This card was made by Shelly. I don't have this "Weathered Together" set.  I saw it the catalog but there's too many other sets I thought I would have more fun with, but after seeing this, I'm thinking of adding it to my wishlist.  The words "I have enough stuff" are falling on deaf ears lately!!! LOL

This is a very easy card to make and if you use the new "Foam Adhesive Strips" it's even easier.  These strips are the perfect height and they each are around 9" long so you don't have to piece as you go, unless you're using up little bits left from other projects.  The strip bends nicely and allows you to follow many shapes and forms.  I an thrilled with this product!!  It sure makes making shaker cards SO much easier and quicker!

This is a fun technique. Click here for the instructions to make a shaker care.  Click here to see the fun card I made for the swap.  These are fun to make, give it a try!

Tin of Cards, Flourishing Thinlits Birthday Card

I found a fun card at "Freshly Made Sketches".  I don't often play with their sketches, but I liked this layout and I liked a card I found on there.  Actually, there were a few cards on there I found that I liked.  I hope I have time to make them!

I used the "Pop of Pink" Washi tape for the background of my card. I need to use my Washi tapes more, I end up with lots left on the roll before they retire.

Okay, after the Washi tape, I stamped the words from the "Tin of Cards" set.  Then I die cut a 2-3/8" circle with the Circle Framelits.  I also cut a scalloped layer that was just a touch bigger than the circle.  The scalloped layer is not on the original card.  I set the circles in place with Dimensionals.

I die cut the flower piece using Melon Mambo card stock and glued it in place.  I added a few rhinestones to my card.

This was a super fun and quick card to make.

A Fresh Fruit Friendship Card Vellum View Technique

Today I'm going to share with you a card I got at one of the Tuesday Technique night swaps I attended.  This card was made by Kara.

This card was made using the "Fresh Fruit" set. A set I do not have.  I bought a fruit set several years back and hardly used it, I don't find a need for fruit sets.  I think if I did canning I may find it more useful.  Plus there's SO many other sets that I have on my list that I want to play with!!

This is a very fun technique to do, it's super simple and very elegant looking.

You can find the instructions for this technique here.  It makes beautiful wedding cards!!!

A Pretty Kitty Friendship Card

Did you ever buy a stamp set that you really had no use for but just had to have it?  Well, that is what I did with the "Pretty Kitty" set.  I LOVE cats and I just HAD to have this set.  I had it on my wish list but it was way down toward the bottom.  I only wanted it because it had cute kitties on it.  So today I thought I would make a card with it, after all I bought the set to use, right????

I colored in my image using markers, except for the kitty, I used a Smoky Slate marker and a blender pen.  I didn't want the kitty to be too dark.

The decorative paper is from the "Serene Scenery" 6" x 4" decorative paper stack.  The back side of that pretty green piece is the dotted piece.  One side of the paper is a photographic image and the other side is the regular type of colored images we are use to seeing.  It's kind of fun to mix the two.

The words are from the "Pretty Kitty" set.  I thought I would send this card off to a friend who's been having a lot of things going on in her life all at once!!!  I'd be overwhelmed but she's strong and is hanging in there.

This was a fun card to make and I do not regret buying the set.  I'm hoping to play with it more, but with the holidays just around the corner, I'm thinking it won't be until January that I will be playing with it again.

A You've Got This, Wetlands, Birthday Card

I found a fun card made by Rachael at My Stampin' Haven, so I thought I'd make one.  I copied it almost exactly.  The only difference is that I added more rhinestones on the background.  I did like it plain but something told me to add them.

The base of this card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  It was cut on the short side so this card opens from the bottom.

I stamped the background image using Rich Razzleberry ink.
The flower was stamped using Versa Mark and black embossing powder.  I trimmed it up by hand (fussy cutting again!!!) and colored the petals in using a blender pen and Rich Razzleberry ink.  The center of the flower is colored in using a Daffodil Delight marker.

I die cut a circle and then stamped the word from the "Wetlands" set.  Normally I would stamp the words and then cut it out.  But the circle was big enough that I was able to get by stamping on it.

I cut a 5/8" strip of Basic Black card stock and snipped the end to give it that ribbon look.  I set it in place on the card base.  Then I set the circle in place using Dimensionals.  I set the flower on top using Dimensionals.

I tied a silver cord bow and set it in place with a glue dot.  I added a rhinestone to the center.  Here I also added it with a glue dot, I wanted to make sure it stuck well. Those little glue dots hold very well.  Then I added some rhinestones around the front of the card and that was it!!

Even with the fussy cutting, it went together pretty fast.  I do like how it turned out.  And I'm a BIG fan of Rich Razzleberry.  With fall around the corner, it's fun to use the richer colors again.

A Tin of Cards, Timeless Textures, Birthday Card

Kimberly at Stampin by the Sea.  I think I've been to her site several times before.  She has some fun and lovely cards and every now and then there's one that I just HAVE to make.  I found this one on Pinterest and I clicked on the photo which brought me to Kimberly's site but it wasn't a direct link to her post.  I looked for the card for a little while but I had no luck finding it so I gave up.  When posting to Pinterest, it helps to get a direct link to the image you are pinning and not just to the blog where it came from.  So, I have no information for you on how Kimberly's card was made and what she used to make it.  I did change a number of things on the card.

The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White.  On top of that is a piece of Whisper White cut 4-1/8" x 5-3/8".  Using Mint Macaron ink, I stamped the splatter image from "Touches of Texture".  I stamped it three times on this card.  I thought it could use a bit more splash than the one time that Kimberly had on her card.  Not to dis her card, it was lovely, I'm just saying what I did that was different.

Next I stamped the words.  Mine came from the "Tin of Cards" set.  I don't know where the words came from on the original card. The words on the original card were not as tall as these are so the rest of the elements were down lower.  I liked that but I did what I had to do with the words I had.

I cut a 3/4" strip of Mint Macaron Decorative Paper from the 12" x 12" paper stack. I die cut the circle strip plus the larger flower image from the "Flourishes" Thinlits dies.  When I cut any of these Thinlits that have details like this, I always use waxed paper.  The dryer sheets work well too but I have found that they leave a film behind and the tape lifts up after a little while. So, waxed paper it is for me.  I also used the waxed paper to help me glue the die cut pieces in place.  I spread some white glue (I used Aleen's Tacky Glue) on the waxed paper.  I folded it in half and ran my fingers across it to get the glue to cover the waxed paper better and thinner.  Then I set the large die cut image on top and put another (clean) piece of waxed paper over the top and pressed the image down to get as much glue to stick to the back as possible.  It was almost completely covered.  Stampin' Up! has a fine tip glue pen to help with this kind of gluing.  Though I have found that by the time I got done gluing, the glue was dry where I first started.  So I came up with this quick and easy way for me to glue and I've been doing it ever since.  I set the large image in place.

Next I took that strip of decorative paper and glued the lacy die cut strip to it.  I cut a paper doily in half and found one of the scalloped circle dies that fit nicely in the center of the paper doily and I cut it out using Mint Macaron card stock.  I taped that circle in place on the doily.  If you are making several of these cards, you can cut that circle in half and use it on the next card.  I didn't, I was only making one card. I taped the doily piece to the back of the decorative paper strip.  Then I taped that piece in place.

I added a bit of gathered linen and used a glue dot to hold it in place on the card.  The flower is going over it, so you don't have to try to cover it completely.  You want to make sure the linen stays in place.

The flower was stamped using Mint Macaron ink and fussy cut.  Kimberly had a different flower but this one was about the same size and resembled hers a lot.  I set it in place using Dimensionals. I added a rhinestone to the center and a few rhinestones on the focal panel.

I thought it was pretty quick to make and put together.  I like how it turned out and I REALLY wish you could see Kimberly's fabulous card.

A Detailed Santa and Oh, What Fun Shaker Christmas Card

I was thinking of not doing my usual snowman card this year and make a Santa one.  Not this one though, I don't want to send out shaker cards in the mail.  I don't think I have enough shaker stuff plus, I don't want to spend the extra postage.

For my card I used a folded half sheet of Real Red card stock. I die cut the Santa using the "Detailed Santa" Thinlits die.

The words are from the "Oh, What Fun" set from last year.  I used the "Duet Banner" punch for the words.  Those words were actually in a straight line.  I bought the acrylic stamps, not sure if they come in the red rubber or not.  With the acrylic ones you can bend them.  I set the words, letters down on top of the punch itself and lined them up.  Then I pressed the stamping block on top of that and the words came off the punch and stuck to the block. I inked it up using Real Red and stamped it on Whisper White card stock.  It was exactly how I wanted it to be.  I punched them out, sponged the edges and set it on top of the other banner image using Dimensionals.  I taped that in place on top of the card.  Pretty simple.

For Santa, after I die cut him out I cut a Window Sheet and glued Santa on top of it.  I used the new "Foam Adhesive Strips" to make a frame for the Shaker Card.  I poured a bunch of no hole seed beads in the center of the Real Red piece and then set the Window Sheet and Santa piece on top. Super easy but like I said, I don't want to spend the extra postage to mail a thicker card. If I was only sending out a few it would be okay but it's Christmas cards and I never send out just a few!!!

This was a fun and easy card to make and I need to think of what else I can do to make this a little different so I can use it for our card this year.  Or not!!! LOL

A Floral Phrases, Floral Bouquet Birthday Card Stamp a Stack

Here are 3 cards I made at Terri's fun Stamp a Stack last month.  I was going to make one of these cards an anniversary card and one a wedding card but I got to stamping and chatting and the next thing I knew I had 3 birthday cards. But that's okay, I like them and I can always use birthday cards.

To make these cards we stamped the "Floral Phrases" image using Nigh of Navy ink.  Then we added the pieces of "Floral Bouquet" Decorative Series Paper.  You can't go wrong with this combo.  This would even make a pretty sympathy card, a thank you card, and even a get well card.

These were very fun, quick and easy to make.

A Happy Happenings Butterfly Thinlit Birthday Card

I wanted SO bad to play with the "Pop of Pink" Washi Tape but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do I put some tape down on the paper and just went from there.

I cut out a circle of Whisper White card stock and then a Melon Mambo scalloped circle. I die cut the butterfly and set it in place on top of the circle using a cut Dimensional.  I added some rhinestones down the body of the butterfly.  I set the circle piece in place with Dimensionals.

The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Melon Mambo.

I stamped the words from the "Happy Happenings" set and that was it. A super simple card.  Perhaps I should have done the butterfly in Melon Mambo but in person the Basic Black looks pretty elegant!

A Paper Pumpkin Alternate Thank You Card

I'd better get a move on the August Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I have hardly put a dent in it and the next one will be here in about 2 weeks.  YIKES!!!  Too much to do this time of the year and it keeps getting worse until after Christmas.  Such a busy time.

Today's card is from the August Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I changed it up a little bit to give it a bit more of a color punch. I used Tangerine Tango for the base of the card because it matched the color in the one panel behind the focal panels.

I had to laugh when I was following the directions for part of the card.  It had you wrap 36" of the thread around your hand. I have very small hands and I wasn't taking that into consideration when I was wrapping.  I got all done and went to set it on the back of the piece and it was totally gone. Nothing at all was over lapping on the sides.  I need to find some other form to wrap things around when they tell me to wrap things around my hand.

The cute little flower came in the kit.  I did add a few tiny little pearls on the Crumb Cake type colored piece.

It was fun playing with this card.  I like how it turned out and I am hoping to find more time to play with some other ideas I have for this kit.

A Swirly Bird and Hang Your Stocking Christmas Card

Okay, every now and then I'm going to sneak in a Christmas card. I'm working on some for Terri's Holiday Product Catalog Extravaganza.  I'm SO looking forward to demoing there!!!  I will share the cards I'm making for the extravaganza later, after the event is over.  I have to keep them secret for now!

So, onto this card.  I found it on Pinterest and it had a direct link to Mae's Cachet blog.  I didn't copy it exactly. I changed the words at the bottom.  Mine are from the "Hang Your Stocking" set.  I had the words she used from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set but the Modern Label punch is retired, so I thought I'd look for something more current.

I didn't have the bird she used either.  I am not sure what set hers is from.  The one here is from the "Swirly Bird" set as well as the swirly thing the bird is sitting on.

I did use some retired "Candy Dots" but coloring in some pearls with a red Sharpie would work just fine too.  I just didn't feel like getting out my Sharpies, plus I wanted to use up some of this retired stuff around here.  But for you demonstrators, you know how to replace retired pieces with current ones!!!

The paper from the background here is from the "Serene Scenery" 6" x 6" paper stack.  I love using that stack.  It's got your typical decorative paper on one side and photographic images on the other side.  It's a fun pack and I'm hoping to use it more.  I thought it was fun that I could use some for a Christmas card, I never thought it would work for that.  I was proven wrong.

This was a fun card to make even though I did have to fussy cut the bird.  But it was only one, so I was okay with that!!

A Vellum View Thank You Card

Here is another fun Vellum View Technique card I received in Terri's latest Technique Tuesday Night card swap.   This card was made by Nancy.  I LOVE this technique. I'm thinking of doing this for our Christmas cards this year.  Just add Merry Christmas to the outside and some Christmasy paper on the inside and viola!!!  I LOVE easy, especially now when I'm so swamped with stuff to do for the fall craft fairs.

The instructions to make this card can be found here.   Wow, a super short post!!!  So unlike me not to ramble!!! LOL

A Timeless Texture, Tin of Cards and Botanical Builder Birthday Card

I have to admit, I have not played with embossing powder in a long time. I don't know why. I do have to leave my worktable to go over to the counter that I have the heat tool and embossing powders on.  But I also have to go over to that same counter to use my Big Shot, so it can't be the lazy thing! And I'm not afraid of burning myself or the paper.  I don't have a clue!  But when I do use embossing powders, I'm usually happy with the way things turned out.

For this card I first stamped the lacy leaf looking images from the "Timeless Texture" set using Crumb Cake ink.  Then I used the Embossing Buddy to make sure the embossing powder would only stick where I wanted it to.  Then I used Versa Mark and the coffee rings looking image.  I embossed it using gold embossing powder. Plus I used the dotted image in the set and made some splatters and embossed them in gold at the same time.

Then I went back to my worktable and added some Tempting Turquoise ink to the card front.

The words are from the "Tin of Card" set and I stamped them using Soft Suede ink.   Now that I look at this card on the computer, I'm thinking that sponging the edges on the focal panel may have added a bit more interest to the card.

I die cut the flower from the "Botanical Builders" using Pacific Point card stock.  The leaf is from the same die cut set and I used Garden Green card stock.  I colored a pearl using a brown Sharpie and set it in place on the flower.

The flower is set in place using a Dimensional.  I added the Dimensional and I set the stem of the leaf on that same Dimensional and set it all in place on the card at the same time.

For the layers I used Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise.  I couldn't decide which color I was going to use and when I had them both in one hand I decided I would go with both.  I was going to cut the flower out of the Pacific Point piece before adding it to the layers but I forgot.  No one would have noticed that between the layers.  But I had a scrap piece, so I didn't have to ruin a quarter sheet to cut out one flower. The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake card stock.

This was a very fun card to make and I do like how it turned out, even without the sponging on the edges.

An Awesome Artistic Birthday Card and Vellum View Technique

Today I'm going to share with you a card I received last month in Terri's Tuesday Technique Night swap.

This card was made by Tanya.  I LOVE how she colored in all the flowers and leaves on the image from the "Awesome Artistic" set.  A set I don't have but am seriously looking at. I'm sorry but I do not know what set the words are from. I do like them and may want to keep my eye out for that set as well. I looked through the catalog thinking I could find it quickly but no luck. I don't have time to page through it in search of those words, so when I do find it, I will post it.

This is a super EASY technique to do.  You can find the instructions here.  I also love how Tanya stamped and die cut the dragonfly. At first I thought she fussy cut it out. I'm too spoiled by all the new dies to fussy cut much anymore. Unless I absolutely HAVE to.  And I whine when I do it too!!! LOL

Give this technique a try. It's fun and it has an elegant and stunning look to it.

Thank you for stopping by today,
Wanda

A Botanical Builder and Designer Tin of Cards Birthday Card

Today I'm going to share with you a fallish card. Since it's September, it's time to get away from the pastel and bright papers and into something more fall looking.  You can't go wrong with any shade of orange now!!!

For my card I used Pumpkin Pie card stock for the base and for the layer. I used Pumpkin Pie Decorative paper for the strip of wording.

I used Tangerine Tango for the flower and I used Garden Green for the leaf. The center of the flower is Whisper White, Early Espresso and the dot is just a punched piece of Pumpkin Pie.  I set the flower with the leaf in place using a Dimensional.

The words are from the "Designer Tin of Cards" set.  It has a lot of fun wording in it.  I chose this one because it fit so well in that corner.  I used Early Espresso ink to stamp it.

I set the top layered focal in place using Dimensionals.  And I also used the new "Festive" embossing folder.

This was a fun and easy card to make.  I like this layout and I think I'm going to have to try it for some more fall and some winter or Christmas cards.

Paper Clay Pumpkin Decor

I just wanted to share with you what else I do in my "spare" time!!!  I've been working on things for the upcoming fall craft fairs.  This is one of the items I made. Actually, this is a one of a kind item.  I am making snowmen like this but not with the Halloween theme. I took a break from the snowmen to make a Halloween one.

I like how it turned out. I was tempted to keep it but I decided it's going to go on the table with the rest of the stuff I'm selling!  I can't keep everything.  I tried that and my house is full!

Thank you for looking, I will have a card posted later today.

Have a wonderful day!

A Butterfly Thinlits and Better Together Sympathy Card

I gave the sympathy card do-over a lot of thought.  I decided to go with Wisteria Wonder for the color.  I'm much happier with this card than the one from a couple of days ago.  I did like it but I like this one better.

I started out with a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  Then I added a piece of Wisteria Wonder cut 4-1/8" x 5-3/8".  The top layer is Whisper White cut 4" x 5-1/4".

I used the Triple Banner punch for the Wisteria Wonder "ribbon" on the left side.

Next I cut a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and sponged the edges with Wisteria Wonder.  I die cut the butterfly using the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper.  I also cut the smaller butterfly from the "Butterfly Thinlits" dies using Vellum.  I colored the vellum with the Wisteria Marker and set it aside to dry.

I stamped the words from the "Better Together" set.  Before you stamp the words, make sure there is room for them by setting the "ribbon" in place.

I set the sponged square piece in place using Dimensionals.  Then I used a glue dot to hold the two butterflies together.  Then I set the butterfly in place using Dimensionals. I added a few rhinestones and it was done.  I'm SO much happier with this card.
