Sweet Bugs, Cute as a Bug, Banner Sayings, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you. Once I had finished it I couldn't determine if I should put this in my regular birthday card container or if it should go in the teen/kids container. Tell me what you think. I found this card on Pinterest and you can see the original card by clicking here.  My card is a little bit different, please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut two pieces of Basic White card stock that measure 4" x 5-1/4" each.  I taped one to the inside and on the front piece, I textured it using the "Beautiful Pattern" embossing folder. I glued that piece to the front and put it under my stamping mat to set up and stay flat while it dried.

In the meantime I cut the pieces for the front. I cut the characters from a sheet of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Cute as a Bug" 12" x 12" package.  I cut the flower and the three ants. There's a die that cut all three ants at one time. I ended up cutting a plate full of pieces. I figured why not since I was using two dies I might as well fill the plate and run them all through at one time. SO now I have some extra pieces to use on future cards.

On the backside of the cute characters piece is the floral strip on the bottom area. It measures 1-1/4" x 4".

The words are from the "Banner Sayings" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them out using one of the dies in the bundle. This piece measures 9/16" x 1-3/4", if I had to cut mine I'd cut it at 1/2" x 1-3/4" and then trim the sides at angles.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the ants, flowers and word pieces.

I glued the floral strip in place about 5/8" from the bottom and I had equal spacing on the left and right. Mine is not so equal but you didn't notice that until just now!!!

After the strip was set in place I added the birthday greetings. I centered it as much as I could by eyeing it.

Then the flower was set on the right and then the ants were added.  And the card was done. I didn't add any bling to it. I forgot it but I think it looks fine without it.

This was a fun, quick, and easy card to make. I would love to make more like this, those ants are just too cute.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
