Senior Years, Smooth Sailing, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up! 2021-2022 Catalog

I had left the "Senior Years" set out that I used yesterday. I liked the "Happy Birthday" on it and it fit so well in the "Smooth Sailing" die.  So today I thought I would make a masculine birthday card.  There's always SO many female birthday cards on the internet but not a lot of masculine ones.  I may use this set again, because there is a female image in the set too.  I was going to say "old people" but I'm an "old people" now!!!  LOL

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of basic White card stock.

I looked through my current Designer Series Paper (DSP) to see what would work on a masculine card.  I found the striped paper in the "Pansy Petals" 12" x 12" package. I cut it at 4" x 2". Then I cut a 4" x 2" piece of Evening Evergreen card stock and I textured it using the "Timber" 3D embossing folder.  I glued the two pieces to the front of the card.

The man from the "Senior Years" set was stamped using black Memento ink and then fussy cut.  I even cut out the arm pits areas.  I colored him in using my Blends pens, except for the vest. I didn't have the Evening Evergreen Blends pen so I used my Blender pen to color it in. The shirt is colored in using both light and dark Soft Sea Foam. The pants were colored in using Light Soft Suede. The shoes and belt were colored in using Bronze. The face and hands were colored in using Light Petal Pink and the hair and eyebrows were colored in using Light Smoky Slate.

I die cut a 2-7/16" circle using Soft Sea Foam card stock.  I glued it on top of the DSP and then I added the man using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Senior Years" set and the die is from the "Smooth Sailing" die set. I stamped the words using Evening Evergreen ink. I set the words in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make. I like the character. Do you really have to wear a vest when you retire??? LOL  I like the colors and this definitely looks like a masculine card!  I need to make some retirement cards soon too. Look forward to those in the near future.  I have to play with my current stuff now until the new items arrive (after I order them on the 4th of next month). It seems like a long time to wait but it gives me time to play with the sets I ignored once the Holiday mini catalog came out.  I have to learn not to order so many sets. I can't seem to play with them all enough.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's masculine birthday card,
Wanda
