Under My Umbrella, Peaceful Moments, Birthday Card, Hammered Technique, 2020 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

I found this really pretty card on Pinterest and I discovered what I loved most about it was the color of the umbrella and the flowers. SO I worked them into this card. You can see that really pretty card here. I may make one sometime, if I have time and if I remember!

And I've always wanted to try this technique.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.

The images are from the "Under My Umbrella" set. I stamped the umbrella, handle, and all the flowers.  I stamped 4 of the large ones and 4 of the small ones.  I colored the flowers and the umbrella using both light and dark Highland Heather Blends pens. I also used both light and dark Pool Party pens. Dark Daffodil Delight was used for the flower centers and both light and dark Old Olive for the leaves.  I had to fussy cut the flowers.  I punched out the umbrella and the handle.

Now here comes the fun part.  I used the "Brick and Mortar" embossing folder to make the brick marks on the card.  You put your card stock in the folder and you take a hammer and you pick where you want the impressions to show up. I just hit the folder randomly. I hammered three or four times in one spot.  It didn't pick up all the detail that the Big Shot would have gotten but it picked up enough to make scattered bricks.  And that was it.  Simple, quick, and fun.  And you get to make noise with a hammer! LOL  The only thing you need to pay attention to is you need to make sure the paper stays put while you are hammering. I just held the folder closed with one hand and hammered with the other and I had no problems at all.

I glued the handle to the umbrella.  I glued some flowers together and I added some Dimensionals behind them. When I felt the umbrella handle was in place and not going anywhere, I tied a bow around it with some linen thread.  I added Dimensionals to the back of the umbrella.

I set the flowers in place and then the umbrella handle on top of them.

The words are from the "Peaceful Moments" set. I stamped them directly to the card front using black Memento ink. I did stamp them after I had textured the front.  I thought I missed the bricks stamping but I did hit them and it didn't make any difference.  That was a plus!!

I set the bottom corner flowers in place and then the smaller ones by the words.  And the card was done.   I think this "Hammered Texture" technique is fun and I like the bricks. I may have to try it on a masculine card. Something with a car or tools!

This was fun and I hope you give it a try.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by today,
Wanda
