Santa's Workshop, Beautiful Blizzard, Christmas Card, Corner Fold Stamping Technique, 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

I have not played with the "Corner Fold" technique in a while and I thought this Santa from the "Santa's Workshop" Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP) would be perfect for this.  The size of this image was perfect.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  Before I folded it in half I cut the two sides for the corner fold.  The instructions can be found here but I am also going to give you the abbreviated version that is much simpler and quicker to follow.  Put the long side of your half-sheet of card stock on your cutter. Place the cutting blade at the 4-7/8" mark and cut upward to the 2-1/2" mark.  Turn your card stock so the shorter side is now on the top edge of your cutter.  Cut from the 3" mark (your blade will meet the previous cut) and cut to the 5/8" mark.  It's best to cut upward so your paper doesn't slip. Cutting towards the top edge of your cutter doesn't give  your paper anywhere to move.  Okay, the cutting is done.  Now take the top right corner and bring it down. Eye the edges and using your bone folder, burnish the two folds that will form.  You are now ready to decorate, stamp, and embellish.

The Garden Green square was cut 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and the light blue piece was cut 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  I misted it with some Balmy Blue ink mixed with rubbing alcohol. I wanted just the lightest tough of blue. White didn't allow the image to show very well because of all of the white already on the image.  There's Blue in Santa's beard, so it just complimented the image. Now when you tape that light blue piece down, make sure you don't tape the top and right corners!!!

For the stripes, I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the SDSP and I traced the card front piece. It was a little difficult to lift the cut piece and try to trace. When I do this again I'm going to cut one of copier paper and just cut off the corner fold part so I have an open backwards "L" looking piece.  Then I can trace with ease.  I did have to clip the corners where the burnished corners are, if you don't then the fold won't lay nice.  I did use some glue dots to hold that fold down.

The words are from the "Beautiful Blizzard" set. I used black Memento ink to stamp them. The strip measures 2-7/8" x 5/8".  The Garden Green layer measures 3" x 3/4".  I set the words in place using Dimensionals.

When I was done fussy cutting the Santa image, I set it in place with Dimensionals and the card was done.

Now that I've found how to do this technique quickly, I can see myself using it more for images of this size that, at times can be a little difficult to work with.  They are not big enough for the whole card front so you need to add more items to the card to get it to work.  This fold makes it work rather well!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
