Happy Together, Whole Lot of Lovely, Birthday Card

Today's card looks a little "busy" to me.  I do love that flowered paper from the "Whole lot of Lovely" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.  I just don't think it should be used on the whole background.  And then I add stripes on top of it all.  What was I thinking???  I was sober when I made this card!!! LOL

Anyway, I will share how I made this and you can change what you need so yours won't look so busy.

I started out with a folded half-sheet of Pool Party card stock. My card opens at the bottom and the fold is at the top. I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the DSP.  I taped it directly onto the card base.

Next I cut a the striped piece, which is the opposite side of the flowered DSP, you think they would blend together better.  I cut that piece 1-7/8" x 2-3/4".  I cut the layer of Pool Party card stock behind it at 2" x 2-7/8".  I taped it on top of the DSP background layer.

The circle was cut using the scalloped circle die and Pool Party card stock.  I stamped the words from the "Happy Together" set using Basic Black ink and die cut it with the Stitched Circle die.  I set the words in the die up high so I could add something under them.  Here it ended up being a Pool Party shimmery bow.  I set the circles in place using Dimensionals.

I added some yellow "Glitter Enamel Dots" to the card and it was done. I really thought the striped layer and the circle would tone down that busy background, but it didn't.  It's all very colorful!!! LOL

It is an easy layout to play with and I may try it again using some other papers, something not so busy.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
