A Wetlands and Flower Shop Box Pleat Technique Birthday Card

I saw this "Box Pleat" technique a few years ago and I think I may have made a card using it or something like it.  I thought I would give it a try today and see what I could come up with.  I'm not thrilled with the way the card turned out.  I think it's mostly the colors.  I would have liked to layer the Melon Mambo on top of a Whisper White card base but then the pleats wouldn't have worked out.  But at least I got to play with the technique and that was the whole point of making this card.  I found the instructions at "Seeing Ink Spots".  It's easy to do but make sure you follow the folding instructions or you will have a mess!!  And no, I didn't have a mess, I just repeated the first two folds and got a different kind of pleat!  But it was easy enough to fix.

When I attached my pleat to the card, I taped the back with some Scotch tape.  I didn't want to have to hold the piece down and wait for the glue to dry.  I had visions of it popping up and then I'd press down on that part and another part would pop up. See where I'm going here with that?  LOL  So to avoid any nightmares, I just taped it. No one will see it anyway!

I used the "Flower Shop" set for the flower.  The center of the flower was done stamping the same flower using Daffodil Delight and punching the center with a 3/4" circle punch.  I set it in place using a Dimensional.

This was a fun card to make and I can see my self trying this technique again but giving it a whole different look!!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
