A Serene Silhouettes Sympathy Card

As I was looking through the new catalog I noticed that the "Serene Silhouettes" set was still available. Somewhere along the line I thought this set was retired (last year) and I never played with it.  I love this set and I'm sad that I had put it in the retired group of stamp sets.  So today I pulled it out of that group and put it in the active stack!!!  And I thought I would play with it too.

Missing my Soft Sky (because of re-inking issues we don't like to discuss), I used Pool Party ink.  I had taken the oval Thinlit and cut it out of scrap card stock.  Then I sponged the oval with Pool Party ink.  I used my last sponge and now I HAVE to rinse out sponges.  It's one of those chores I just HATE to do.  I don't know why, it's not difficult and it's not all that messy but for some reason I just HATE to do it.  Anyway, after the sponging, I stamped the tree using black Memento ink.

The words are from the "Love & Sympathy" set.  I didn't check to see if that one was a current set or not.  I'll be doing that after I'm done posting here.  After stamping the words I saw that the top part of the card looked so empty.  I still had my butterfly punch sitting out from yesterday (I never put anything away!!!) so I punched out the butterfly using a scrap piece of Pool Party card stock (which happened to be sitting on my worktable, imagine that!!!!).  I glued it in place and then added 3 pearls down the center.

This was such an easy card to make.  I'm actually considering cutting it down and adding a layer of Pool Party behind it to give it a little bit of a punch.  It's too blah!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
