Blog Candy Question

Okay, here it is! Your question is "What is this item?" You can be as creative as you like but please keep it clean!!

This item measures 2 3/4" long and at it's widest part it measures 13/16". It is 3/16" thick in the middle and 1/16" thick on each end. It is made of white molded plastic. It is a bit pliable but it won't bend or break in the middle! And it serves no purpose! What is it???

I will tell you what it is not. It is not a bone folder though it does work well as one!!!

And to win the Blog Candy you do NOT need to have the correct answer! Names will be drawn randomly!

Have fun!

1:40 p.m.

I'm adding this little note to this post. A few of you have submitted the correct answer but I have not published your comment yet. I will publish it soon. The creative replies have been a hoot! So what I'm going to do is ask those of you who are going to be adding a comment NOT to look at the other's comments until you have submitted yours!!! It will take the fun out of it!!

  1. I was going to guess that it was a bone folder, but then I read that it isn't. Hmmmm.....What could it be. It sortof looks like it could be a toy boat. Have you checked to see if it floats? When I was a kid I turned the street gutter into an obstical course for toy boats. It was fun to float them down it. I'm sure my kids would love doint that now.

  2. Wanda - i'm stumped but i'm going to make a guess: i'm going to say its a collar-stay (like you insert into men's shirt collars to make them firm and flat). i'm sure that's not what it is, but at first glance, that's what i thought it was. of course the sizing is all wrong.

look forward to reading others guesses!! :-)

It almost looks like a plastic hair barette or paper clip...

Hee - I was going to say collar stay and then saw Bethtrue's answer is that as well. Well other than a collar stay I have no other ideas.

  5. It looks to me like it is some sort of foamy thing that might have been a protector of something else and had to be pulled off once you wanted to use your 'something else'. LOL! I don't know! I would just LOVE to get the mailbox. We don't have TARGET's here in Canada and the closest TARGET did not have them when I had the chance to go. Anyway, thank you for sharing your goodies with us.

  6. I have no idea what this is...if it works well as a bone folder, I don't think it could be a collar stay. I am going to say some type of packaging?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I was going to guess a mold of some sort but it can't be that as a mold serves a purpose. Hmmm...Maybe some flatten silly putty that's gone hard??

A guitar pick! I don't know that's my best guess!

Is it a Scotch brand hand on the wall thing. You know the self adhesive kind? Hmmm..

I'm going to guess that it's one of those things that fits into the collar of a men's dress shirt.

    Cool question.

  11. I KNOW what it is! I have even suggested to my customers to use it as an inexpensive bone folder. This piece pops out of the handle from a gallon jug of milk!

  12. I thought it looked like one of those adhesive thingys that you hang things on the wall with.

  13. Anonymous12:19 PM

Oh! I think I know. Is it the left-over plastic piece from the handle of a milk jug?

    ReplyDelete
  14. It looks like it is some sort of packaging material, maybe from a pin back? Can't wait to find out what it really is. It seems like I have seen it before.

  15. OK - I'm going to guess that is is some sort of jewelry holder thing from a new necklace. The necklace arrived in a beautiful blue velvet box and this "thing" kept the velvet piece inside the box from moving around so that the beautiful diamond did not move around much. Well? you did say be creative. :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am going to say it is the piece of plastic from the handle of milk jug. This piece is usually gone when you buy the milk in the store but sometimes they are still hanging on inside the handle.

Very creative and clever candy question. I am guessing that it is package form from a box. I would guess that it could be used with polymer clay or paper to mold a label or tag. Thanks for a great mind teaser and what a fun candy giveaway.

  24. Oh my, I haven't the foggest idea! I'll guess it is some sort of doo-hicky! Well, it could be a thingy-mabob too! Okay, my guess is a . . . . . doo-dad!

Really, I think it came from some sort of item that has a slot and the plastic from the slot just punches out then something important goes into the slot. Does any of that make sense????

  25. Hummm.....it looks like a squashed packing peanut but that doesn't fit the description. I am going to guess a medieval torture device. ???

  28. I'm totally stumped, but I think it has to do with shoes. Something that goes inside a pair of shoes to maintain their shape? It's a stab in the dark, but at least I gave it a shot! Now I'll go check out the other comments and see what others have guessed!

  29. I know what this is! (& I didn't look - so hopefully I'm right.. he he!) These little plastic doo-hickeys are placed on the collar points of men's shirts - it keeps them pointy & straight. I recently bought my husband a couple of shirts that were on sale & there were little pockets on the underside of his collar for these things... interesting

    ReplyDelete
  30. It looks like a collar stay, though most have a simpler shape!! Or some kind of blister bandage? Very interesting! Can't wait to see the correct answer!

Hmmmm....this morning when I looked at it, it looked like a barrette.....it still does, however, you said it serves no purpose....so I must admit I am stumped!! Maybe it is a piece of foam that was on the back of a barrette??

It has to be a child's nose scraper for when they have colds... Or the inside flat piece from a plastic milk jug handle.... I like the child's nose scraper better :0)

  36. I truly have no idea, it kinda looks like the thing I stuck to the back of a plastic hook I hung on the wall!!!

  37. Hello...my guess is a surf board for a polly pocket.....
    Tracy H.

  38. upon first glance I thought i was command adhesive but since you said it could be used as a bone folder that rules that out. Since you said it serves no purpose i'm completely lost. I'm guessing its something that came in a package that would usually be discarded.
    ~Melissa

  39. What is that is a very good question! I am going to say that is a picture of the putty behind a quick hook, you know one of those things that people hang items on, like a coat or such. Thanks for hosting such a fun blog candy question!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm thinking it might be a staple remover or letter opener. But you said there is no purpose for it....
    What the heck is this??????????

    is it a scrapper

  41. It looks like a barrette to me, but since it serves no purpose, it can't be that.

Hi Wanda....love your blog and all your super creations....I'm really stumped on the picture...I thought it was something totally different until I read the measurements....hmmmmm....let's see, I think it looks like the paddding on the inside of a hair clip?!?! Can't wait to hear the right answer! Congrats on another milestone....BLOG CANDY ROCKS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think it's a tool used in sewing to help when you turn somethign right side to so that the corner is crisp.

If I didn't know the measurements and that it was hard plastic, I would have said a feminine product LOL

    ReplyDelete
  44. It looks like a collar stay. I found a few of them in my wash when they fall out of hubby's shirts. But it looks too thick for that as his are very thin.. otherwise, it could just be a piece of plastic to act as a spacer between some stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous2:54 AM

I'm fairly certain I know this. It looks to me like the piece that is supposed to be tossed when gallon milk jugs are molded.
At least that is my best guess.
Please let me know if I have it right.
I enjoy reading the blogs and comments. Keep 'em coming.

My guess is that it is used in sewing, when you turn corners it helps you make the turn crisp and sharp. Thanks for the game.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hmmm... To me it looks like one of those plastic thingys that holds a sample of lipstick/lipgloss or other makeup in, that you can try from Mary Kay or Avon or whereever. I think you stumped most of us! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous7:56 AM

Ok at first glance my guess is an impression in putty. You know, they type of putty you get at rehab to work your fingers. The impression I thought of was of a paper clip.

thanks for posting the blog candy!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous7:58 AM

It reminds me of a band-aid, but if you can use it to replace a bone folder....hmmm. Maybe it's letter opener. What a fun question. I am sure we are all going to feel a little silly when we find out what t really is. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's one of the extra bits of plastic from a model airplane kit?? That's the best I can come up with. Now to read what others think it is!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. At first glance, I thought it was a bendable barrett.

  52. I think it was some part of packaging that at one time had other pieces attached to it.

It looks like the back of one of those removable hooks that you can use on any surface. I think 3M makes them.

I think it looks like it could be a Barbie toy. But it also looks like the thingy that comes from the handle of the milk jug. Great question!

I think it's could be used for dry embossing. You use it to rub over the paper to imprint the image on the paper; like an impressor.

I'm thinking it may be a piece of rubber cut from a stamp set, but then it wouldn't work as a bone folder. I don't know, but that is my best bet.

  58. Anonymous1:20 PM

Don't know why, but the first thing I thought of when I saw this was a pregnancy test...but it doesn't have the window. So maybe it's the back side of it? Although p. tests serve a purpose...I'm truly stumped! Can't wait to see the answer!

  60. it looks like one of those Scotch brand hanger thingies.. the kind you stick on the wall and then can pull it off without making any marks.. maybe it's a broken of these??

    ReplyDelete
  61. I do believe that it is one of the backing sticky things from those 3M hooks, that you pull the one piece and it comes cleanly off the wall. They came out with a couple of years ago............it looks a bit squishy, and foamy.....LOL

Hi, I am from Canada and I will guess that it is from a juice container (like oasis juice)
    Funny looking thing anyway.

  63. omg...my 'first' thought is that it was a maxi pad but then you said to keep it clean so making my mind work the other way, I'll guess that it is something for the hair - like a padded hair clip? or maybe a packaging insert that came with something? I don't know.
This is a fun blog game. You have me stumped.

Dear Wanda, Congratulations on all your readers.
I would say what you have posted is a remover for hair wax. You put some wax in the center area, put it up to where you do not want hair, wait, and rip it off!!

  69. My guess is that it's a collar tab that is placed in dressy shirts.

I think it is a bit of clay that was pushed againt a hairclip then baked to harden...

    ReplyDelete
  73. I have no idea what it is...I know it serves no purpose, so I think it has to be something that was included in some packaging or a tab on an item that you have to remove when you get it home.
Awesome blog candy...I wish we had a target in Canada.
    Very cool blog!!

  74. It is a throw away tab from a plastic lid lock thingy. Heck I don't know.

Ok, Wanda, I scrolled all the way down the comment section without looking....I promise....and here is my guess...I believe it is a 'sheild' from a little boys toy set...like you might see in a pirate's set, or a warrior set...except, that color doesn't quite work for that...so, maybe a pretend 'iron' from a little girls playhouse kit? Actually, I think it is just a 'glob'! Anyway, I'm new to your blog and subscribed to it today...it looks wonderful. TFS yourself and your talent. Barb g

  79. I quess I'm not able to think outside of the box on this ---- I'm going with my first thought. I think it looks like a piece of flexible plastic that has been "pressed" with a hair barrett. A practical guess might me a collar stay.

How about a bra stay...you know...before they made underwire.

My guess: one of those scanner sticky things that are built into product packaging so that they can be scanned in stores like Home Depot.
I'm not even close, am I!?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous12:02 PM

I can't wait to find out what the thing is. My guess: part of one of those hooks that you can put on the wall and then remove it without taking the paint with it.
