The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
For the strips of Designer Series Paper (DPS), I cut 1" x 4" strips from various sheets in the "Perennial Lavender" 12" x 12" package.
I had never done this technique before and I had no idea where to begin. So I started with the piece on the right that is second from the bottom. I lined it up on the right side of the corner and made sure it was straight. I taped it in place and left what was hanging over to be trimmed later.
The next piece I added was the bottom piece. Then the left side longest piece and then the shorter one next to it. The checkered one was added and then the tiny purple one in the middle. I took my scissors and trimmed the ends off. I was surprised at how easy that was to do after I pondered how difficult it looked!
The flower was cut next. It's from the same package of DSP. I used the "Impressions Abloom" bundle. The flower center is from the same package of DSP. The leaves were cut using Lost Lagoon card stock. Dimensionals are added to the back of the flower and were set aside.
The words were added next. I did lay the flower over the area where it was going to go so I can see where I need to stamp the words. The words are from "The Right Words" set and stamped using Gorgeous Grape ink.
I thought the white area looked like it needed something so I took a scrap piece of copier paper and covered the DSP. Using my dark Highland Heather Blends pen I tapped ink over the white area.
The flower was then added and the leaves were tucked under it.
I had some retired enamel dots and added them to the front of the card and the card was done.
This was actually a very fun card to make and I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
