Zoo Crew, Around the Bend, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I have another fun card to share with you using the "Zoo Crew" Designer Series Paper (DSP). There's SO many characters in this package that you can make a card a day for weeks! Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I was going to use Basic Black and I don't know what happened. I guess I picked up the wrong piece and ended up with white on white. It is what it is and I still like it so I guess that makes it okay! LOL The card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer. I textured it using one of the folders in the "Stripes & Splatters" set. These are not a full size embossing folder so I had to run it through my Big Shot twice to get it to cover the whole piece of card stock. I glued that in place on top of the card base. I prefer glue because I get a better surface contact than with tape. Had I used tape I could have removed it and switched to a black card base.

Next I took a piece of DSP from the "Zoo Crew" set and using my Blender brush and Lemon Lime Twist ink I colored the piece. It measures 2" x 4". I cut a Basic Black piece for the layer that measures 2-1/8" x 4-1/8".  I taped the DSP to the layer and then I glued that in place on the front of the card about 5/8" up from the bottom and on each side.

The alligator was fussy cut from the "Zoo Crew" DSP. I set it aside. Next I die cut a 2-7/16" Basic White circle and I colored it using the Blending brush and Lemon Lime Twist ink. I also die cut a scalloped oval Basic Black piece using the next largest scalloped circle. I taped the two circles together and then I added the alligator using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Around the Bend" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I masked off the word "there" under the "hello" because I prefer just a plain hello and both wouldn't fit in the oval. I punched out the word using the "Double Oval" punch. I also punched out a scalloped oval using Basic Black card stock and the same punch. I taped the two pieces together and added Dimensionals to the back.

I played around with the pieces until I finally liked where they ended up.

This was a very fun and quick card to make and I do like how it turned out. It's not just a friendship card, it could be used for a birthday card for children or adults.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,
Wanda

  2. I don't think of alligators as being fun, but this one looks pretty fun and friendly. :) Cute card! (I have been busy and haven't been keeping up with posts so I'll have to look back at what I missed.)
