Adorable Owls, Wildflower Path, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

I'm so happy you found your way to my blog today!  I have a fun "Adorable Owls" birthday card to share with you.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Bermuda Bay card stock for the layer. And a 3-7/8" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Celebrate Everything" 12" x 12" package. There's 48 sheets in this package that covers a variety of holidays and events.  I liked this design and I thought it would go well with the owl.

I cut a 1/4" x 5" strip of Bermuda Bay card stock for the strip and a 1/2" x 5" piece of Basic White for the layer behind it.

The large circle is cut from the center of the Bermuda Bay larger layer using the largest stitched circle from the "Stylish Shapes" die set. And the Basic White circle was the second largest die in that set. I took my Blending brush and Bermuda Bay ink and scrubbed on some color to the center of that circle. I taped the circles together and set them aside.

The owl was stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock and was fussy cut. Then I colored it in using my Blends pens. I used light Crumb Cake, light Soft Suede, light Pumpkin Pie, Light Bermuda Bay and light Balmy Blue (for the eyes).  I did find that if I colored in the face and belly with the brush part of the pen I could use the fine tip end for the highlights. It seems that the finer tip colored a bit darker.  Except for my Pumpkin Pie one, it barely had any color. I set Dimensionals behind the owl and set it aside.

The words are from the "Wildflower Path" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I die cut it with the ribbon die in the Stylish Shapes set.

Now I was ready to assemble. I taped the DSP to the Bermuda Bay layer and then that was taped to the card base.

The strip was added using tape and it was about 1-1/8" from the fold.

The circle layers was set in place about 1-1/4" from the top and bottom and 3/8" from the right edge. I just eyed it until I thought it looked good.

I set the owl in place on the top of the circles.

The words were added using a Dimensional under the "h" in happy and tape along the rest of the piece.

I thought the card needed something more and I looked over at the items I had purchased and I saw the "Loose Daisy" embellishments. So I glued some of them on and it finished off the card.

This was another fun, quick and easy card to make.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
