Lovely & Lasting, Wonderful World, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

I'm not one for the fancy cut cards but now and then you just have to try it.  I found this layout from a card I had made a while back and I thought the busy Designer Series Paper from the "Wonderful World" 12" x 12" package would be perfect.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Polish Pink card stock. It's going to expire in May and I still have quite a bit in my package, so it was a win win for me today.  I cut the sheet of card stock on the 8-1/2" side so once it was cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  I folded it half. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

Next I cut off the top portion at 1-1/2" down and to the fold. Then I textured the front using the "Pretty Flowers" embossing folder. If the piece were a bit larger that was cut off, I would have just textured the whole thing so I could use that strip. But it's too small so I just when this route.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was taped to the inside of the card. I cut a strip of the DSP 4" x 1-1/2" and I taped it to the top of the Basic White piece.

The DSP on the front was cut at 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" and the Polished Pink layer behind it was cut at 2-3/4" x 4". I taped the DSP to the card stock and then I glued that piece to the front of the card. I centered it and made sure I didn't have any glue above the area that would be exposed. If I had, the card would not open. And I was smart this time and opened up the card when I did the gluing (just in case!!!).

The words are from the "Lovely & Lasting" set and were stamped using Polished Pink ink. The border around the words was from the same set and was stamped using Mossy Meadow ink. I punched the piece out using the matching punch. I added Dimensionals to the back and set it aside.

I just thought the front of the card could use something so I took some Baker's Twine and wrapped it in 3 different size circles and stuck them to the area where the center of the DSP piece using a glue dot. Then I set the word piece in place. I should have made the twine circles smaller but it is what it is.

This was a fun layout to play with and I didn't get the front glued to the back, so that's another win!!! LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's thinking of you card,
Wanda
